  1. Fantastic piece, looking forward to seeing it in person. Congrats.
  2. Good info Randy. I must have had different versions, none of the wheel fit, the pivots were different sizes, and the balance wheel staff was too long and jamming up. The rest of the stuff you mention seems the same, cannon, hour, minute, keyless works stuff, winding gears, etc...
  3. Well if you pick up a 212, I can take care of the rest of the mods.
  4. Looks great, nice clear pictures. Congrats, it's a beauty.
  5. I am so sorry, haven't had my tea yet, and for some reason I read the post as a sales one, my apologies. Understood on the stock picture. The Dark Grey lume is cool, but the glow is quite faint, ok if your a SEAL I guess and don't want to be spotted. I agree on keeping it, I like the uniqueness of it, same goes for my Fiddy with the old pocket watch movement, it's unique and a one of a kind. Sadly I don't have my Stealth 212 anymore, but I can always make another if I get the urge. It's the only one I have ever used the Dark Grey lume on, it's not a popular colour. That is a hard watch to photograph, your probably better if you exposed somewhere other than the dial, it being completely black makes the rest of the picture over exposed. Thanks for the feedback.
  6. I think most of the Keyless parts do exchange with the ETA parts. I don't think the gears or balance wheel etc are interchageable. I tried the same fix Francisco, but on the one I had, the problem came back, it was almost like the parts were not machined correctly and there was too much space between the gear you show, and the winding gear...
  7. Cool looking watch. I did up a similar type with the black lume and a PVD case. Very interesting to note the differences between your lume shot and the one from flav. I am glad to see that you listed the exposure information as well, it's much too easy to make the lume glow look much brighter than it actually is in person. One second is a good exposure and about as close to the real brightness in person.
  8. It is quite easy to mistake the Chinese copies with the ETA's, the signs are there, but are difficult to spot. It is not unusual for the watch to have a Genuine ETA, it happens all the time and a couple of years ago was the "norm", they all had genuine ETA"s in them, until the ETA crunch came... If you could post some detailed pictures, it would be interesting to see exactly what you have. And yes, ETA does have factories all over the orient, but it's irrelavant, simply because the movements are bought on the open surplus markets, the same source as Bob Frei uses and all the other supply houses, ETA doesn't sell outside of their own brands...
  9. Here you go, all you wanted to know but were afraid to ask... Asian 6497 review They are a less than $50 movement. Keep in mind that there are a number of variations on this same movement, none are better quality, some are not so good, stick with one from one of the dealers here.
  10. Vaccum is also in Florida...and it's probably a good idea to have it serviced, these models seem to have issues when they are not serviced.
  11. Well done, great results and amazing workmanship. Thanks for posting this.
  12. Too funny, seems to get the job done though.
  13. Very well done, nice to have the tooling.
  14. Size 10 is just slightly larger than a 6497, needs a bit of filling around the outer edge to fit a Fiddy case. Size 12 will also work, but you need to remove about 2mm around the outer edge to get it to fit the case. I have a number of each sizes from various makers that I use in my project watches, Hamilton 916, 917, 921, Burlington, etc...
  15. I have always used a simple easy out screw extractor tool, the kind with the twisty left hand threads, you simply use it as you would to remove a broken screw, twist and pull and the tubes come right out. Nice lathe btw.
