  1. Sorry if this has been covered here before... I promise I tried and failed to get an answer with the native and site directed Google search! I've been talking to a guy selling an SF240 that has a key winder, but he's not sure if it is a stem wound also. From a pic he sent me, it looks like there is space in the case to accept a stem, but I only want to buy if this thing will definitely NOT require conversion to accept a stem. What say the experts?
  2. Just posted this on another forum a lot of you may read, but this fake seller was so defiant and defensive I'm hoping for a big group reporting effort to get this taken down. This hobby doesn't need the undue attention these guys bring! Weak eBay rep: 200974956649. Please help sink this scammer!
  3. Whatever you do, don't let the dial be replaced. It will tank the value of the watch. I'd rather have an aftermarket bezel and the original dial than all genuine Rolex, but with a service dial.
  4. Forget the color for a second--what's wrong with the coronet? Looks like it's listing to the right. I'd say this guy is trying to pass a rep dial as a "refinished" gen.
  5. I have never seen a 1977 vintage watch that has between-the-lugs engraving that crisp and pristine, and with the vertical brushing intact.
  6. If you wanted to return it to standard specs, I also say no go, but I have a slightly different take... I have a gen 16610 and think the white/silver is a little cold and sterile looking. You could get this, put on a stainless/black bezel assembly and NATO strap, and you'll have a great and cheap 16610 with the warmer vintage feel of the flat dial 5513.
  7. Absolutely fantastic shots! Hard to make a good 16610 rep look unimpressive by comparison, but those beauties do. Can I ask, who sells the unmarked aftermarket case with the gen-like construction?
  8. I'm mostly with you, Freddy, but I'd argue that hate speech is never best left unanswered. Derogatory terms for gay men and women, just like racial slurs, have an ugly history of going hand in hand with real discrimination and even violence, so my own take is that a response is always worthwhile. All that said, as a rule you're right--no need to feed the trolls!
  9. I don't write in here often, but feel compelled to here-- Tessa, I complete agree with you about gen forums. I own a gen 16610 but could never spend time on TRF like I do here or RWI. But your use of the term 'homo' is unacceptable. You can dislike people for participating in boring websites, but using a slur is nasty and childish. If you're not embarrassed by it now, you will be in a few years when it falls out of the English lexicon (just like every other epithet that people eventually figured out wasn't ok), so cut your losses and cut it out.
  10. Welcome to the forums DC109 :)
