  1. Welcome to the forum !

Please consider that servicing a rep is a pain in the ass.

Most of the watchmakers won't touch it cause they could loose their license with the genuine brands.
That said, if you live in a big city maybe you will find one.

As others said: if you don't care about the inside and just want a nice watch, go cheap.

It will probably fail at a point but then replacing the movement is very cheap.

If you prefer peace of mind, go for Eta and it will last forever (if you have it serviced from time to time).

By the way, about servicing, opinions differ.

Some say it should be done as often as every other year, some say service should only happen when something goes wrong.
As usual, the truth is probably in between.

Most of my reps and gens were not serviced these last 5-6 years and they run fine.

    Hope this helps,

    Cheers

  2. Spend our honeymoon in Malta and enjoyed ourselves quite a bit. Great little island.

    Indeed. Nice little island ;-)

    Life's expensive there?

    Not at all.

Of course you can spend a lot if you go to expensive restaurants and drink quality wines.

But, you can also find a 2 bedroom penthouse for rent at 500€/ Month with a sea view or buying one at 150.000€.

Not even mentioning cooking at home with local vegetables, fruits, meat ...My meal yesterday was around 3€ ;-)

  3. I need to visit Malta after those pictures haha :D

Well, trust me, it's worth the journey.

But avoid july/august as it is very very hot !

I'm Maltese, but live in Australia. I'm visiting next year. =)

Sent from my Guide using the Sub-Etha Net.

    Bongu!

This is probably the only word I know ;-)

Well, if you're here, drop me a PM and we'll share a Kinnie (or a bottle of Melquart)

    Cheers

  4. if you guys were to buy a gen rolex would you get a 1675, 5513, 16610 ? Or something else?

I think I'm coming to the crossroads of wanting a gen..

    Budget wise, I'm limited.

I owned a 1680 (White), my favorite, together with some other Rolex.

The only gen Rolex I kept is the 16610.

I would recommend you find one of the last lug holed ones ;-)

I'm lucky to have found the "rare" dial with SWISS and the flat S !

  5. The gen jubilee in some of the pictures was picked up on ebay for $250 but I think I'm sending it back because I belive it was for a Datejust as endlinks and bracelt will not fit gen spec soring bars....., would you keep it anyway??)

Tony, I'm a little confused about this!

I don't see it in the pictures.

  6. what do you guys make of this website, they claim that they sell the most flawless replica rolexes and for an average price of $1,250 i should hope so lol.

can you guys have a look and let me know what you think because my friend is actually mad enough to buy one and hes chomping at the bit!

Don't push people to such stupid places pls.

If you claim that they sell reps at that price, you  should know that it is scam anyway.

By the way, the link has been edited.
