Do you tell people at work that you are wearing reps?
oakland replied to Jawo's topic in General Discussion
I think I just [censored] in my pants laughing so hard! -
Awesome pics. Thanks for posting em.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I really like the TT Navitimers. And like I said before that daydate in glacier blue is pretty cool. @ Timeshare - Which bentley's do you have? Can you post a pic? I'd love to get a tourbillon, but I don't know if I'm up for spending the dough just yet. I'm going to check out the roger dubius easy diver later today, and see what I think. I certainly have some looking around to do. Of course I won't be locking myself in a room looking at watches when my family is over for the holiday this weekend... Thanks.

Wow, forget that last question! I obvoiusly was distracted by my avatar when looking at that picture. I'm checking his site now.
-
BEAUTIFUL I was actually just looking at some of our dealers pages for it, and so far no luck. I found one with the diamonds, but no numerals. Thanks for the pic, It's definately the kind of watch I'd like. Where'd you get it?

I know you have an EVO, but my vote would be another one. I have the Two tone Blue dial and I can't stop saying wow!!! Other than that i could tell you to go for a day date in SS with the glacier blue dial and roman #'s. Either that or an all gold Breitling Bentley. I'll look into the TT Evo and the Day date glacier blue. Great suggestions. I'm not into an all gold watch, at least not yet. Thanks. BAJONKA BAJONKA!!!! LET THEM JUGS WOBBLE! That damn avatar always makes me linger a little bit! Wobble they will. Enjoy. Breitling. Navitimer on a bracelet. Bentley (on anything). Shiny, relfective, no lame CZ, big, highly desired out in the real world. Any Navitimer's in particular? A friend of mine got a white one from Andrew on SS bracelet, and it didn't thrill me. I think maybe blue would be more eye catching. Thanks, If anyone else has more suggestions, please write em.

I have a bunch of reps, but I'm looking for something new. I have a PO and a graphite EVO. They're great, but they don't have that WOW factor. I also have a LV 277 or 227 i Forget which, and a TT Sub blue/gold. Those watches, although not as accurate, have what I'm looking for. The dial stands out, and they look great. Have any of you guys bought a rep that you were surprised at how beautiful it was? I can tell you that the LV blew me away. Again, I'm not looking for accuracy this time, just something eye catching. And no, No watches with CZ's. I don't need bling. Thanks

THANKS! It's great. Of course, as in real life, it always distracts people from the topic at hand. what were we talking about?

There are quite a few reviews on steinhausen winders, all in all you should be fine, just be prepared for it to stop winding in 2 years or so. Do a quick search and look around. There is also one guy on Ebay that ships individual winders out of Hawaii. The winders are cheap, it's the shipping to the US that stopped me from buying them. Look for single watch winers on the bay. Good luck.

Do you tell people at work that you are wearing reps?
oakland replied to Jawo's topic in General Discussion
I made the BIG MISTAKE of telling my brother who I work with about my growing rep collection. He was so impressed, he blabbed to everyone. Picture someone holding up your arm saying "Check out this watch, can you believe it's a fake?!" Now, not only can I not hide it, but people think my gens are fake too! I can't tell you how annoying it is when a co workers, friends, family members ask me if my Ulysee Nardin Maxi Diver, or my gen seamaster pro is a rep. Then again, I would buy the UN rep if they made a good one... -
I've never used WU but from what I've heard you have really nothing to worry about as far as giving up your ID. "The Man" isn't looking for every guy online buying a rep, and with so many WU transactions internationally every single day, yours won't even get noticed. I worry more about someone taking my money and running off with it. That why I won't use western union. If it's a dealer you trust, then don't sweat it. I know a lot of people that have had nothing but good experiences. I'm sure plenty will chime in. Of course I also know someone who thought they won a French Lottery and had to send money via WU to China in order to get his winnings from Switzerland, but then again he deserved to lose his money, can't really blame the guys at WU for that. Good luck, you should be fine. P.S. What kind of watch are we talking about here...

I've recently done a lot of checking up on this subject. The bottom line, unless you get scammed, you get what you pay for. Eilux is good, very quiet and reliable. If you want to go cheaper you can go with the steinhausen's from Acetimer, I got mine there. I don't think you can expect a winder to last forever, but If you want it to last for more than 2 years I'd say go with something more pricey. I doubt my steinhausen will be quiet in 6 months, and I'll be amazed if all of the turntables work in 18 months. Good luck. Oh, one more thing, avoid the really cheap ones on Ebay like the plague, my brother got one and it hasn't worked right from day one. Good luck!

For the record... I DO get on the ass of Student Drivers, honk my horn and scare them. It's fun. Seriously, it's really fun. On the other hand you, like the student driver I would honk at, should just ignore it and learn what you want to learn and contribute what you can. Skip over the Aholes and do what you want to do. That's the beauty of internet forums. There's no real danger (in Jersey road rage usually involves a baseball bat but that's another story). I'm a noob too, and I know what you mean. I personally don't feel qualifie to share my reviews since I've read some great ones from the usual guys, but in time I will. All in time. Enjoy the watches, ignore the schmoes who give you a hard time. Hell I still get crap for my avatar, but I'm not changin in. Cheers.

Anyone got the new replica 45mm PO rubber strap yet?
oakland replied to dangerman's topic in The Omega Area
I've had my rubber strap for a little over a month now, and It's definately worth it! Barely any dust build up, and it can take a lot of wear and tear. I wear it almost every morning. I live near the beach so it makes the PO a perfect casual watch, running watch etc. Good luck. -
@ rag9fx - She's my first cousin. I wish I was born in Alabama. Just kidding. I wish I knew... @ everyone - I assumed when watcher said "perfect" he was using the term from Andrew, and that's where the sub came from. That's my guess.
-
I could also server as a nifty cup holder.... I love the fact that they put this huge F'n thing on a 9 year olds wrist! The watch is HUGE! we get the point, no need to go that far! It would look huge on anyone.
-
Congrats! Very nice watch. Good luck with it.

After a visit to the AD a week ago I am itching for a blue and gold two tone Sub. That combined with a little tax refund have me leaning towards picking one up. I've read the general two tone reviews (thanks to all of you) but I just wanted to see if anyone had purchased one from andrew, and if so, your thoughts. I'm not picky as far as accuracy, i know about the plating issues, especialy where the bracelet meest the watch. He has one that is 18K not 14, I'm curious to know if anyone can vouch for the overall appearance. All of your thoughts are appreciated. Thanks

Thanks for the heads up! Good warning. That is horrible Customer Service. That's what I'm hearing. Thanks to you all of the advice. I'm going to grab a Steinhausen today or tomorrow. I think it will suit me well. Maybe when my collecion grows, and I have some more money to blow on winders instead of watches I'll get a higher quality winder. Thanks, Oakland
-
Thanks! I appreciate it. That review definately make me feel more confident purchasing one. Anyone else have a good experience, or bad experience...
-
I'm no expert but do you have security software? It's possible that it noticed an odd cookie and thus deleted your cookies, and in essence timing you out, and logging you out. Just a guess though. May I suggest, you could send me the payment and I could take care of it...

I'm in need of a winder. My collection is up to four and I can't keep setting my PO and Ingy when I want to wear them. I have read the posts about winders, and there are a bunch. I didn't see any on steinhausen. Anyone own a steinhausen? If so, are they worth the extra money or what? I'm trying to make a decision today or tomorrow. I've read that you get what you pay for, but I'm thinking the steinhausen's are just as shoddy as any e-bay winder out there. Thanks for your input. Cheers, Oakland

I think everyone reading and adding to this post shares the same good sentiments about the group of people that make up this forum. Cheers to that! It's what makes us all come back time and again, even when we know that there's no new watch to look at tomorrow. I come back every day to laugh at some funny reference, or a pic someone threw up. (and honestly the hope of a new AP RO). I enjoy the type of people interacting on the board. But, I have a hard time missing a 25 page post filled with resentment and fiery discussion. I read most of it, but the bottom line it that is keeps me from wanting to check the general discussion board. I come here to have fun, get away from drama and the seriousness of regular life, as well as to learn about my new hobby. I personally think that the post should be moved to the dealer review section. Let all of those concerned with dealers read and write about it there. Leave the general discussion board for precisely that, the discussion we all enjoy. Short of that, I'm just going to spend less and less time on the board until it comes around again. Keep in mind, I think it's a viable and important topic to dicuss, but I don't know if it belongs in general discussion. Let's get back to the wristchek's, the info on custom's and all of the new things hitting the replica world. Put dealer reviews and concerns good or bad in the dealer review section. Regards, Oakland

I would bet that someone has over 50. I can't wait to see where this tops out!
