  1. Haven't been here in a while!!! That watch is looking good!!!! Gotta love that movement. It's my fave.
  2. I'll post pics and caliper measurements over the wknd. Gotta watch me some football now though!!
  3. Now is this a watch that one could transplant a GEN 7750 into??
  4. Didn't know that?? How about for the 063?? I just picked up a GEN crystal for a 23A and it's interesting since a hole is milled out of the crystal and inset into what appears to be two layers of crystal glued together. I'll have to post pics. A lot of work went into that crystal.
  5. Count me in for 2 hands, or 4 if they aren't too expensive
  6. I'm happy with a plain movement to stick under my closed caseback PAMs. If you want the movement to look visually like a GEN movement, you're probably better off with an Asian 6497-2. Just mho.
  7. Very cool Marco!! Those look like Cali hands?? Or were they originally for something else??
  8. I think the regular T19 GEN crystal looks great. And when I look at most of the GEN pics, that's what I see. I bought one for $50 from Astorlive and it's really nice.
  9. I would recommend Vac. He does great work. I would think that your problem would be an easy fix. And dare I call Vac a 6497 specialist Contact Vac directly at his email: jorellanes@gmail.com
  10. Buy the caseback tool from Angus. He sells them at a GREAT price and you'll have no risk of damaging your caseback or the crystal. While a big wad of duct tape will remove your caseback, I find it tricky to re-install it securely with that same sticky wad of tape. The aluminum tool from Angus is much easier to use. Best $50 you'll spend if you like playing around with various casebacks and movement mods like I do.
  11. Palp crowns will soon be no more. Also, Jimmy Fu has ZERO desire to make any more crown guards. I must have asked him 6 times in the last 6 mos. I received some Palp/PAM crowns with machining flaws. Missing metal etc.... if you get a good one, they're nice, but if you don't, it's really disappointing. Also, some of the Palp/PAM crowns are threaded at an angle so they install somewhat cockeyed. Your mileage may vary, so please no flames I picked up a few of the GEN/Turkey crowns and had them sent to Vacuum. According to Sir Vac, they are super nice, but really best suited to auto pams due to the thread diameter. They just require some lever modifications to seat properly with the correct distance from the case. Now I'm DEFINITELY in if someone is willing to purchase some true GEN crowns or crown guards for reasonable money. That would be GREAT. My fave PAMs these days are D series and earlier PAMs based on the JimmyFu case. It's truly a higher quality case with better polish/finish/lugs and screws.
  12. How is the "long arrow" different from the standard dial? I did a search and came up with longer and shorter "3's" and stuff but I'm still confused? Is the logo larger?? Is it the L Swiss L vs. Swiss Made? thanks for the info!! I have an 005 sourced from Joshua and my dial looks very similar to the GEN other than the more upright logo.
  13. Hey Arch, I'm not concerned about the genuineness of your 000. I've just never seen a GEN panerai movement behind a closed caseback. Just the ones that we've all seen on open back PAMs. If it has the engraving and looks like the E-G series movement, then I've seen that one before sherwin
  14. Hey Rolli, Love the watch and I love the strap!! The Cortebert 616 is currently my favorite movement. It's just drop dead gorgeous and a real workhorse of a movement. Upgrading the movement will really improve your watch!! sherwin
  15. You can always wear a rubber strap. My vanilla scented rubber on deployant from Angus gets a lot of wrist time!!! But that SS band is looking good to me. Now you have a 220/221 look.
  16. I'm not sure where this originated from?? Maybe Tourby?? But if you look at any GEN Panerai movement, you will see that the screws are blue in the slots. The Soprod movements have very nice blued screws and the slots are silver. So, Asian copy and GEN Panerai movements have completely blued screws
  17. Really......an undecorated 6497-2 in a GEN Panerai?? I just assumed that they were all decorated open caseback or not?? I'd love to see pics of the GEN movement. Please take a shot of the balance assembly, the large ratchet wheel and crown wheel and also if possible, get a close up of the eta stampings underneath the balance wheel. Pics like these if possible: http://replica-watch.info/forum/viewtopic.php?t=30466 Thanks!!!
  18. They don't have it. Just confirmed this morning: Dear Sir Unfortunately we do not have this movement. I am sorry we could not be more helpful on this occasion. Best regards Cousins Hello, I am looking for the ETA 6497-2 movement. Do you currently have any in stock?
  19. There is no "perfect" REP. Not on a Panerai especially. And GEN parts are next to impossible to find so you're stuck with REP World parts. I suggest that you go to panerai.com or paneristi.com and decide which model/models that you like. Some of the REPs are very accurate and can fool even the highly seasoned paneristi. Check out this recent attempt to sell a REP as a GEN. How do I know that it's not real?? Well.....first of all, I have the same caseback. The lume is the wrong color, the cannon pin is recessed, and the crown guard is polished. But it still looks nice, right??? hxxp://www.network54.com/Forum/353390/thread/1191091313/last-1191108921/FS-++PAM+1B++%28for+Panerai+collectors%29 Just change the xx to tt.
  20. The 6497-2 is really just a novelty. A movement that is used in the GEN Panerai since day one. The only reason it's so expensive is because it was supposedly made just for Officine Panerai. That's why no one stocks it. I just heard back from Cousins and they don't have it in stock......just the 6498-2 which is a different animal. The newer Asian 6497-2 is actually a very nice movement. It's dirt cheap, reliable, and has the thumbs up from both The Zigmeister and Vacuum. It's also visually more accurate than the "getting hard to find" GEN Swiss movement. Is it worth $600?? I don't know?? But if the point is to create the most accurate REP possible, there is no substitution for the GEN movement. I've asked Vacuum to try to swap some parts to create the Franken 6497-2. I'll report on how well that works. With regards to Kai's movement, I'm not sure what that is?? But if it was a fully decorated GEN Panerai movement, I would gladly pay $600 for it
  21. The swan neck is added on. Soprod, Panerai etc.. GEN Swiss 6497 movements do not come from the factory with swan neck regulators. And most of the GEN movements do not have beveled gears. When these movements were available, they were very costly. I remember hearing that they sold for $400+. However, I've never seen a GEN Swiss movement with the ETA stampings behind the balance wheel. Only the Asian REP movements come without the stampings. But I could be wrong......
  22. Please check to see if the 6497-2 has not only the high beat movement but the longer 56 hr. power reserve? I have a base 6497-2 movement and I really like it. You can really hear the difference in comparison to the 6497-1. As it was mentioned, all of the GEN Panerai use the 6497-2. And this movement has the correct balance wheel with the flared spokes. Unfortunately, none of the 6497-2 have the Panerai embellishments, so I guess these movements would be best suited to closed back Panerai REPs. Mine sits in an 001B with a JimmyFu case and crown guard. Probably my nicest Panerai REP. I'd love to see some pictures!! Here is the base 6497-2 movement in my watch: http://replica-watch.info/forum/viewtopic.php?t=30466
