  1. Rob I am sure you have trained ants or some mystical ability you're not telling us about.....whatever it is it's pretty unique!!! If I ever have an accident and need micro type surgery, can I hire your hands for the day....as I'd trust you more than most surgeons I've met so far Best FGD
  2. Short game ...DSN 202/A or 195 may help feed your need Long Game ...assemble all the parts and custom build your dream.. V 1:1 CG 2 Screw Lug bars SS Rep case with lug holes adapted for 2 screw lug bars (Ideally an old case with correct Pre-V shape) OEM crown , or T-60 , or PALP Proper PVD coating from one of the members who offer a service here These below you can use from the "short game" watch or just start with fresh parts ETA 6497 with correct Cannon Pinion and Hour Wheel DSN Non-AR Sapphire DSN case back Dial wise , there are some decent versions of 202/A kicking about , DSN's is OK but the font and cut out indices are it's worst flaws 218/A is on my "to do list" ....along with 195 , 203/A, 205/A and 207/A funnily enough! I'm sure a better dial option will come along one day. Best of luck FGD
  3. DSN advises "These are the standard rep case only, thus there is lug slopes. oem (his custom?) case i do not make any more." One bit of good news anyway ...DSN custom case with it's troublesome CG screws is history. Regards FGD
  4. Outstanding workmanship and attention to detail ...I love it !! I have been extremely fortunate to acquire the parts required to make exactly the same model... I sincerely thank RossMcSherry and Madasboot without whom this would not have been possible... I am yet to acquire the skills to finish my project to this level and would welcome any "step by step" photos on your next project in progress... I hope to have the "finishing touch" for 26mm Vintage straps ready soon.. Best FGD
  5. Bar "strap curve" it looks good IMHO...! Loving the 2 screws .....and 201/A it has to be ..!! Best FGD
  6. Hoorah!!!....now this I am rea ly looking forward to see....:-) Best FGD
  7. Kent is good Rob , but not better than you ... When I first started down this path I had 2 dials done by Kent, 2 done by Vacuum and 2 by you ... I have only ever had them done by you since...:-) Nothing wrong at all with Kent or Johel's work but your "total service offering" takes some beating ...WORLDWIDE All the best Simon
  8. Not always ...the 036 from Ruby / Joshua (with fat crown and flatter CG )has a much thinner dial and when I attempted to fit a 177 sandwich dial in the case it doesn't allow the stem to line up with the tube + the case clamps cannot be tightened... Best FGD
  9. It looks nice and square alright ...just hope that someone can confirm the CG hole size?? Cheers FGD
  10. Nice story, nice strap , very very nice watch !!! That 112 must be getting dusty by now V...|!! Best FGD
  11. Looks the dogs CC...love that colour finish and your stap combos!!! What's the cost of the service with Avitt...PM if you like .... Enjoy FGD
  12. Great post Mike The 111 case you show looks very good ...with the exception of the strap dimple which is the leas obvious element by far (now 2 screw lug bars are in the pipe!) The square corners where the lugs meet and slightly "fatter" profile are the other defining features ......the gen may even be slightly thicker. I've pinched some images V posted in the Best Pre-V Case thread. PAM88 (up) and 5218-201/A (down) V's CG is the best of course and I do think the T-60 crown is by far the best ever functionally and cosmetically regardless of teeth!!! DSN's new caseback is acceptable in my book, I think you'll struggle on the 201/A on TT's site ...this is well gone discontinued.....maybe I-offer ? Best of luck FGD
  13. Outstanding Theo......do I spy a gen 002-A and 004-B with T dials there........beautiful 28 too!!! Fabulous 5 .......now I want to see the 0ther 35.!!!! Best FGD
  14. First ...thanks to everybody who has supported this project and made it a success....I really appreciate it. Second ....Peace to all.....it's a rep game we're playing here ...not life and death. I know sticking a 201/A dial on my Helenarou case with T-60 Crown and V CG ....doesn't make this $40,000 watch , but it has made it one of the most satisfying reps in my collection. Same with my 202/A and 002 (and I even have a Gen Dial 002 !!) Every effort has been made to get these dials as accurate looking as possible, a lot of time was spent by myself and one other INCREDIBLE member to nail all the little details previous DSN versions just didn't come close to Dial Text - raised glossy finish - Correct font , correct A,s correct Logo Correct Shape 6 and 9 Recessed indices and numerals with "gloss" varnish effect finish Flat dial finish I don't see this as a competition , but no-one else seemed to want to do anything about the flaws in DSN's dials ...especially DSN and the gauntlet was thrown down by PAMMan many months ago. SO I took up the challenge , put over $2000 of my own money in....and took a gamble!! Some people are not satisfied with the results , one person in particular is a great disappointment to me but that's just life and you learn every day. You can't please everybody , and nor should you try, but I do think there will be a lot of very satisfied members out there and some great looking watches when these start to get installed. I am most excited to see what Ziggy can do on the lume front ....just watch this space. Thanks once again , and watch out for the next project Everyone who has supported and expressed interest (even if you missed out) will be on the next invitation list Cheers FGD
  15. An amazing project Rolf as we have already discussed , just waiting to hear back from you on costs for this service... All you need to improve upon is the dial.... FGD
  16. I say why not Have you picked up any hands from Jimmyzfu on ebay ....you have a choice of colours and only a few sets left.....top quality Item 140268514086 Cheers FGD
  17. More random nonsense that has nothing to do with Panerai...??? I'm off to watch Madonna Live in concert and drink some Woo Woo's Have a fabulously uninteresting discussion while I'm gone and try to keep the place tidy .. Oh and please..put the lid down on the toilet if you use it.... FGD
  18. Pretty good IMHO ...just depends if the CG screws are still DSN custom size or std rep size.....if DSN size then no good with a V CG......boooo! I'd be keen to find out as the CG doesn't look to shabby either!! FGD
  19. A collection is not complete without a Fiddy ...got to agree. This is a mighty fine example as well!!! Enjoy FGD
  20. Beautiful watch ...missing from my collection ...but soon to be put right!! Enjoy ...it looks the mutts and an inspiration for me!!! FGD
  21. Double Base ....lovely choices RR...enjoy FGD
  22. Hmmm...too fat ...I think it depends on which picture of a gen you look at....I have hundreds of images and they all look different. It probably depends upon how much chianti got drank with lunch when they were made!! Gen 202/A Gen 201/A These Dials 202 201 002 The Pre-A 002 was filled differently to the Pre-V , it didn't have the painted indices so I'd I concede that one needs a re-lume for definitive finish. The Pre-V dials here are only painted shallow, the depth magnifies the width ...you can see the extent of this visual effect from the low light shots of the dials only. And yes these can be re-lumed , I did one badly and cleaned it up but the indices take a loose lume solution fine with no bleed out ...if you have a steady hand (Which I don't) The tone of the indices is not white , just the balance on the photos makes them look more so ...it's actually a light coffee shade. And I'm 1 Zillion % sure you have not seen these months ago......unless you can dream yourself into other peoples heads!!! FGD
  23. The Helenarou cases I picked up have the exact same profile as the Pre-V ....I am beginning to think that as PAMMan said , these were made using a gen 201 as a sample...... I just wish Helenarou could supply a job lot of the same case ....I might give MK a shout with the details/spec and see if he can source 20-30 cases for us ... Keep you posted Regards FGD
  24. That's a huge amount of wrist candy to accumulate in 12 months......congratulations ...I think ...:-) Of course ...loving those PAM's!!! Enjoy FGD
  25. Cordovan is very nice ....but OEM Gator does it for me ....and you only just showed a hint of those scales and grain...!!! Great watch V ...really good choice to complement the 112 FGD
