  1. I have to admit, I'd be interested in getting the watch and then getting all the yellow replaced with blue lume, but you're quite right, it's not the most attractive of watches 'as is'
  2. Welcome to the forum I believe your only real route, is to build one yourself from available parts, rather than purchasing a completed replica... Best of luck
  3. I know what you mean about the look of the strap, it looks 'a bit forced' somehow... Oh well, I'm sure they'll get there in the end
  4. That's what makes me laugh too, I've seen a UN on Tony's site which I quite like (even though it's not the Rhodium dial) but it's only on the silicone strap, and I think I'd really only like it on the bracelet. I guess I could buy one of the other models which are on the bracelet, do a part swap, and then try and sell off the other one with the rubber strap installed
  5. Absolutely Given the finish of the less accurate Yacht-Masters, I would think that they would be able to replicate it easily enough, I think the real question though, is, given the popularity of the watch, might this be one which gets a 'basic' release, only for a V2, V3 Ultimate V released in quick succession
  6. Maybe That said, how the dial looks on the less accurate Yacht-Master reps, (Silvery 'sunburst') I don't think it'd be too far from that finish to get the UN correct I'm really surprized they've repped all these models so far, and 'left that one till last'
  7. Awesome Still no 'RobbieG' Rhodium dial All in good time, I'm sure
  8. I'm guessing it's gen, but I would love to hear it was a rep
  9. Why not indeed, they work well together The Milgauss' lugs are thick enough that the strap doesn't over-power the case
  10. Awesome Have you put a few major dings into it as well? Once the wabi-sabi aesthetic gets you, you're hooked
  11. As above, I wouldn't've expected it to work, but it does, and makes a really awesome combination Definitely a peanut-butter and jelly kind of situation, but nice result
  12. Oh yeah, this is going to look sweet when it's put together
  13. Pristine is over-rated Okay, sure, it's one thing to wear clothes which are clean and not falling to pieces, but some things (and I think watches fall into this catagory) just look better, and certainly feel more personal, when they've acquired a few knocks and scrapes When I was younger, I used to get a new watch every year, and until it picked up its first ding, all the time it was still 'factory new', it didn't ever feel like it was 'my watch'. I remember seeng a Biker Buildoff where one builder had an OCD about being worried about getting new things damaged, so what he'd do, as soon as he got something new, be it a helmet, a bike, etc, he'd dump it on the floor to intentionally mark it up, so he wouldn't have to worry about keeping it pristine anymore Sure, it's nice to keep a nice watch in a reasonable condition for special occasions, but even then, that's no need to turn a watch into a safe queen
  14. I'm sure I've heard that Rolex will allow people to enter the US with one Rolex without having to pay duty on it, but I can't remember the source...
  15. I spaced them out a bit for the photo, but they packed smaller, and I still managed to get in my clothes, without the need for a second case or bag, just my usual LV messenger bag, from my man KB, for the little things like magazines, drinks bottles etc You know, of all the fetishes there are, feet is the one thing I can never get my head round... Besides, my shoes aren't a fetish, just a collection
  16. That's a fantastic and very comprehensive review, thanks for taking the time to put it all together It's interesting how the rep actually has a few improvements over the gen, such as the bolder date font, and bolder wave-pattern in the bezel insert, and I would agree, that these are definitely worth calling improvements, rather than 'flaws in replication', as they enhance those aspects of the watch
  17. That is nice I'm loving the look of the bezel assembly, it looks fantastic Thanks for sharing it with us Edit to add, I just noticed that it has Ranger hands :tu: This is a piece which just keeps on giving
  18. Absolutely so, consumerism and marketing is all a big con
