swiss PAM177H with swan's neck regulator from River, crown and CG modded by me, hands from davidsen, relume and cannon pinion by FP..on a honey tan gator from beacon, darkened to a vintage brown using mink oil and restitched at the lung ends. buckle custom brushed to simulate Ti.

    hope u guys like it...

Wow! I thought that was a gen at first glance! the bright white printing on the dial gave it away....looks like you took the crown and cg from the bad ass 036?

    most excelent looking beast!

  2. Nice to see you got your watch and it's working well. I received my 202a a few days ago, but as they say "if you don't have anything nice to say....". So, until he and i work this all out I'll wait to post my review. :wounded1:

    ohhh...that sux :(

I know it is hard to get over the initial let down - from the high of receiving a new watch to be deflated by a bad specimen. But for what it is worth, David seems like a stand up guy, so I am sure he will take care of you!

  3. got my PVD 195 from david today. initial once over, it looks really good. I did notice there are a few nicks in the finish....but very small, an mostly on the edges....I will try and post some pics tonight after work and let you guys decide if they are big enough to be an issue...

But is a very sweet watch!

    *EDIT*

Upon closer inspection, watch is quite awsome. Really good AR on the crystal. the nicks in the finish dont even show up in the photo's, so no biggie. Lume on the hands is killer, but the dial will defenitly need a re-lume job. another observation, the second hand does not sweep as smoothly as my 7753 196.

Strap looks pretty decent, was actualy barley able to get it on the first notch for some wrist shots...Custome strap was a no show today :(

    Ok, here are the pics!

  4. Hang on, I just read Palps post...so i understand it to say he fixed the problems on the watch already?

If this is so, what is the problem? Joe sent you a messed up watch, but offerd to fix it, when you declined due to shipping issues he agreed to do it your way by having Palp fix it...so he went out of his way to do it your way inorder make sure it got fixed?

if I am reading this right, what exactly is the problem Namor?

  5. I didn't chose a short-cut Nebakanezzar, this was a regular option Joe offered. I never said Joe crooked the cyclops (just to take an example) - it sure was crooked including the bad bracelet.

Only thing that would make sense in this case is to exchange that bad watch with king and write me a little mail that the whole watch will be delayed 2-3 weeks cause king delivered a less nice watch with serious issues.

That easy. It was wrong to start a whole modding package on such a watch.

But that is not the problem of the customer ! If I get a watch from a dealer and the send it to Joe he is not responsible for any existing issues with that watch.

But if he regularly offers in his pricelist to get the watch for you and mod it directly and THEN send it out to you he IS responsible for that. He even charged 20,- USD more than kings regular price.

He explained me this additional fee and that was ok for me. I prevented trouble to have the watch firstly sent to me, than to Joe and then back to me.

well, this depends. if this is a service that Joe "offers", than yeah I geuss that implies he should be responsible for making sure the watch he recievs is in good order. if this is a service "you" asked of him, than I dont think it would be his responsobility to make sure the watch is in good order...as you would be giving up the right to inspect it yourself...either way, you are putting yourself in a bad possition "assuming" he would check it over and bypassing the step of having the watch sent to you first to inspect. Ultimatly (weather Joe should have or shouldnt have checked it) you chose to rely upon him...IMH that is to some degree your fault for being lazy (maybe not the best term...but you get the point I think). when I talked to Joe about a DRSD, I now remember he did mention he could have it shipped to him...but I remember thinking I would want to see it first myself, and not wanting to pursue that option.....I know zig does not (or at least didnt before) accept watches that are shipped directly to him from dealers...for just this reason I would assume.

but yeah, I guess Joe probobly should have closly inspected the watch on arival.

what about having palp fix the problems? did that occure? is the watch better now?

  6. @Namor.

You have a much too "holier than thou" attitude. you have to share some blame in this. you chose to have a watch sent from king to Joe for you, and then expect Joe to know exactly what to do, what you would do? while I agree those seem to be glaring flaws in the watch...it was your choice to take a short cut, so you need to accept partial blame for that.

And this whole anger thing towards Joe seems a little misplaced to me. This is not the first time Joe has had this problem. If I remember correct, about this time last year he was laid up with this allergies/asthma problem for a several weeks…so I doubt seriously he is faking it.

I reread your post, I didn’t see anywhere if Palp fixed the scratch and bracelet as Joe said he asked him to do….did palp do these repairs?

I am unsure of this bad blood thing between Zig and Joe, dont know what it is over, who is right or wrong, or who started it. frankly I dont care. I have not dealt with either, but I plan to send some business to zig for re-luming and service. And I plan to eventually have Joe mod a WM/MBW DRSD for me (dont have the $$ now). they both have such great reps that I am confident I will be happy with their work. Knowing I am impatient, I will wait for Joe to get better before I send him anything though.....(thats known as "managing expectations")

  7. Hmm Namor, I have had a really bad experience with one of the most reputable dealers on this board. so because of that, I was willing to give you the benefit of the doubt. we - all of us on the forum....members, dealers and repairers/moders - are all capable of mistakes, and [censored] does sometimes happen. now I dont know all the details of what happend, only you palp and joe do....but going around bad mouthing people like you did in this last post, you lose credability. dont throw [censored], just facts, and be willing to come up with a mutualy benefitial solution.

    Edit - I like Slay's solution also :)

  8. he has wrote like 20 times that he is sick and stuff... it already started to bother me.. so ppl who didnt read that have to be blind :)

Oh, I only caught a few of them, but as I said, he has been making sure we were all updated and aware of his condition, and that Mods/repairs would be delayed....which shows good will and unfortunate circumstances. Not a scammer...

Glad to see RBJ able to respond. Hope you start feeling better.

  9. and the wrapup........

Well...the first rep watch norcal lunch meeting was attended by Chicken Manny and I. I am quite sure the waitress didn't care for us hogging a table for a few hours, but I think she got over it. In short, the best of the rep watch world has to offer was shown as well as the worst examples(somewhat) of what canal street had to offer was there too. Those of you who could show up really should next time. Chicken Manny has some of the most incredible pieces to show. Pics don't do these watches justice. You just have to see/touch and feel them just to appreciate just how well built they are. His PAM 187 is a must see and feel! As far as the Rolexes goes, in order to be really appreciated, they should be put side-by-side and the differences are incredible. I had my black bezel China special, pepsi Klink special and Manny's LV gmt put nexto to each other and the differences were very obvious(outside of the bezel color). Final agreement....the best reps were a true work of art and the canal street specials were still solid deals.

As long as I am in town, I don't mind setting up a monthly or bi-monthly get together, I think its a great way to see the stuff you wouldn't normally buy and it might even convince you to go after one. I know that a PAM 29 and a 187 is on my list of "must buy" in the near future. Also, for those of you who want to do something a little more than just eat and drool at watches, possibilities of heading to the range to kill some paper targets is a definite possibility too. Bottom line....show up and have fun!

Aww man! Sorry I missed it.....but I did recently get my CZ 75 out of storage....so killing tree's could be in order....
