Just follow the money-trail. It leads straight to the Porta-Potty Lobby. Something about this doesn't smell right.

That's all well and good, but how does he get his Green Card?

Something tells me that The Zigmeister doesn't go that way....

If it's a more or less temporary position - and with the right documents from his firm - he might be able to remain under Canadian tax jurisdiction quite legally. Otherwise, and with just one dependant, the tax bracket would be steep....

China? If accounting doesn't work out there are always replica watches

No worries for me! Stocked up on all that stuff for the Y2K meltdown Those goats are a real pain in the ass.

Yes, but what's his stand on replica watches? See also: http://iowahawk.typepad.com/iowahawk/2008/...logging-th.html

We're screwed. A little birdie told me so.

Got to disagree with you here, Pugs - despite your stay in this fair city: most neighborhood boulangeries now sell both pains aux chocolate aux amandes and croissants aux chocolate et amandes - logical for the pains aux chocolate of course, but not at all limited to the tourist trade, since they're absolutely delicious - and a clever way for bakeries to add a bit of added-value to an otherwise more or less staple item. Hope life is working out for you up there in the Land of the Scots. Perhaps we'll see you again one of these weekends. In the meantime, you'll have to excuse me while I go play with the pigeons...

If Vicky was staying in a youth hostel, that must have been some time ago...in Brussels (or any other big city) it's possible that the cab driver, playing on her youth and inexperience, really 'took her for a ride' - and thus the huge fare. There are always two sides to every story, and sometimes both versions are true. Why fight about it? As for Brussels, it's a cool town - nice little bars open late, more relaxed atmosphere than Paris. I've always liked it - with one reservation: the urban planners who tore down blocks of traditional neighborhoods in the name of some sort of whacked-out technocratic vision of urban-renewal, should have been shot. And then propped up and shot again.

I rarely comment on other people's watches (after all, what hasn't already been said?), but I have to say that that's one fine piece you've got there. Very handsome.

Thanks for the confirmation of what I had read.... Pisses me off mightily: idiots are a dime a dozen, but Siberian tigers are an endangered species. And even if they weren't, it's the right payback for tormenting any animal. I've no sympathy for those kids, and nothing but regrets for the tiger. And now the surviving azzhats are trying to slap a huge lawsuit on the zoo for negligence. It makes me want to sue their parents for neglecting to abort them when they had the chance. On more or less the same subject, I learned from a resident in Las Vegas that there was also much more behind the story of the albino tiger that nearly killed Roy (of Sigmund and Roy) during their show at one of the big casinos. In word, the tiger had been frightened by the unexpected movements of a woman in the front row and tried to grab Roy by the head/neck - like it would have done with one of its own cubs - to 'save' him from the perceived danger. That's why the guy was never put down. The story never really made it into print, however - perhaps not as dramatic as the original media spin.

Will you be getting hardship pay for the Paris job? Man, it's tough here....

Hey Slay, long time no see - and Happy New Year, dude! By the way, even with a moustache, your girl is a real looker

Along with the Darwin Award, this guy deserves an 'Enny'! In the meantime, and while we're on the subject of total asses, more and more evidence is arising pointing to the taunting of the Siberian tiger that attacked (and killed) a boy in the S.F. Zoo: empty vodka bottle in friend's car; slingshots found on other members of group; suspicious objects (stones, tree branch found in tiger's enclosure) and now an eye-witness who watched the group shout at and try to provoke the animal. Unfortunately - and contrary to Darwinian Award rules - it looks like two 'innocents' were killed in this one: the magnificent Siberian tiger, and the boy himself, who according to the eye-witness, was the only one not participating in the verbal taunting at the time that she and her family were still observing the scene.

Postal services have improved vastly - registered packages should not be a problem. One the other hand, customs could be a (potential) problem for non-EU packages. As for EU residents, this would be a great advantage...

A retirement/weekend place in Burgundy or the Perigord is definitely the way to go.... even milder winters a few hundred kilometers south - with incredible bargains still to be found off the beaten path. If it's for a job, income taxes and retirement could be payable via Canada - with no double taxation. Medical should fall under the French system, which means that you'll have total coverage for moderate fees. Feel free to PM me for any questions or further info...

At dollar-euro parity, you're talking about more than $100,000 per year. In a word (or two) - and without addressing any of your questions specifically - I can assure that you'll live very, very, very comfortably here. Should be fun - for about six months. After, reality hits. Afterthoughts: Your greatest advantage (other than being in the top 5 percent of the population, money-wise) is being French-speaking. That's going to save you a lot of the grief usually reserved for those who don't. Another thought: Paris all the time? Sounds a bit like a life-sentence. Why not offer yourselves a little parole and live some of the time (spring, summer, fall and a bit of the winter, mainly) in any of the absolutely beautiful provinces: the farther away one gets from Paris, the better it gets... Also, your money goes twice as far: with the exception of tourist-magnets such as the French Riveria, life is significantly less expensive - and much more enjoyable. The bottom line is that it all depends on the life you want to live: some people find it hard to tear themselves away from Paris (personally, I have a love/hate relationship with it) and others prefer a hybrid existence, alternating periods of time in the capital with relaxing down-time in a country place in the provinces. Financially, you should be able to set up the sort of existence that pleases you best; the rest is just a question of personal preference.

What you guys need is a nice quiet place where you can jerk each other off to your hearts' content without having to tolerate clutter posted by people you don't appreciate - instead of coming here and crapping all over their threads. /festive greetings & flameproofing, my left bun.

Did someone already say not to egg people on?

Life as it should be lived... Sigh. Happy New Year, Lanikai!

Of course, but these are not really posts. And they're very short.
