  1. It's always a pleasure to read some positive news. It's great to hear that RBJ is tooling up again...
  2. Every clod has its silver lining: all this publicity, coupled with the ill-will generated by Mr. Lazerus's appropriation of the Dirk name, will doubtlessly stimulate new customers for the authentic straps. Speaking for myself, I had never really paid much attention to the subject before, but were I to be in the market for a strap in the future, the real Dirk would certainly be among the manufacturers I would check out. As they say, what goes round, comes round...
  3. Because it will be so much fun to get it PayPal'd back, Slay. Or even to donate it to RWG: So many members So few supporters...
  4. Too cool. I wonder when he's going to start selling TC Veni12 straps...
  5. I'm selling the exclusive rights to 'fu$§*tard' Would look great on a calling-card, corporate logo or your dog's ID collar. All proceeds donated to the Edge Fund...
  6. We're almost half way there, good people... Now's the time to donate a little (or more!) so that we can get this behind us... Chris was the canary in the coal mine for other members who could very well have experienced the same fate had the password alert not been given. Not only that, but our Chris is known for his selfless volonteer work in a Glasgow clinic for recovering repaholics. He also feeds homeless dogs and cats; reads erotic novels to the sight impaired; repairs old bicycles, televisions, microwave ovens and nuculear power plants for the needy; is a model son for his doting parents; a shining and scholarly star at his university (where he conducts free language classes for new English immigrants to Scotland); never steps on ants, always washes his hands before eating his one frugal repast of the day (usually cold porridge with a dollop of haggis); is single-handedly reshingling the entire roof of the Glasgow Cathedral.... The list is almost endless, but I'm sure you get the picture: Chris is exactly the sort of bloke that you would love to sit around with chewing the mutton fat and downing a couple of pints and a few bags of salted vinegar crisps at your local Al-Anon meeting: 'Aye Chris, ye sheep-bugger, this litre o' brew is on me, ye' damned tree-hugger!' you would be saying as you both got drunker and drunker.... Well, for the same price as that litre of awful swill and minus the hangover, you can bang a little bling into the RWG common kitty and proudly see your name appear on the list as someone who puts his money where his ballocks were...your principles are...well, you know what I mean. http://www.rwg.cc/donations/ And if you're a little low on the old moola, why not reach way back in that watch drawer and drag out that ticker that you bought a year ago, put on once, and have never worn since? Put it up for auction, someone will be happy to acquire it! No watch to donate? How about your baseball card collection? Your girlfriend or wife? Imagination's the only limit here, guys! Give 'till it hurts! 'till it bleeds! Give 'till you can give no more - then give some more! Try it and see: it will feel good! May God Bless You, Lads!
  7. RWG has always attracted more good apples than bad... It's one of the specificities that differentiate it from 99% of the other forums out there. On the other hand, a few bad apples can spoil the rest by creating an atmosphere of indifference and looking the other way when they do their dirty-work. In fact, they count on it. Now's the time to show your 'core' values, guys: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=5202&hl= Do something: it sends a powerful message of solidarity and purpose and gives you the chance to turn something negative into a positive statement - both towards a member who has been generous to another in a time of need, and for the forum itself as a living entity composed of real people. Now's the time to give something back, however small or large.....
  8. Donation sent earlier by a more circuitous method prior to the posting of this topic. The several others who did the same might want to add their names to the list below...
  9. Not at all - couldn't ask for anything better. I think there's enough desire on the part of many members to see this turn out well for Chris to justify the Admin taking it forward as a project....
  10. Payback's a [censored], Chris. We're not there yet, but if we make it, try and take it like a man...
  11. Either some of you misguided souls imagine that I'm trying to gather these funds for myself or that I'm such a fu$§*tard that you don't want to get involved in anything I'm associated with. To the first, allow me to say that you're mistaken. For the second, I quite understand your feelings. For the latter reason, I'm leaving this thread to the next member who wants to move it forward with more success and dynamism than I'm capable of mustering. Perhaps someone else will want to pick it up after the next person takes it to the next level, and so on.... My pledge to Chris stands, however.

  13. Ok, we have SEVEN members who have responded to the call so far: 1. Ghostface 2. leitztozeiss 3. [censored] Tracy 4. Dutchy 5. Fitch 6. Sherrington 7. Ryyannon Only 73 more members to go!
  14. Where's the Scottish Mafia? We need some some organizaiton here...
  15. Well, I reckon we know where Chris is.... Dutchy will sort himself out.
  16. Some simple math: 80 members x $10.00 and Chris is out of the woods. 40 members x $20.00....etc. Once we decide how to do it, we post the message and keep bumping it up till we get there. Remember, it could have happened to anyone of you... Whadda think, guys...
  17. Done. Thanks for the sage advice, Bill.
  18. Very good news indeed!
  19. Do you have the telephone number of PP in the UK (a direct line and not some button-punching arsewering machine?). I don't have it myself, but it can be found, either though board members or by a search - if one is lucky. If we could be of any help for you with this, just post. Otherwise, it looks like an open-and-shut case of account hacking. I would like to think that pp will re-credit your account once they have established that it has been criminally breached. Keep us informed, and don't hesitate to ask for help in terms of info and/or prior experience. Best of luck with it, Ryyannon Update: This is their verified business info, copied off the pp Sucks site: http://www.paypalsucks.com/faqs.shtml and re-verified by myself using the FSA register: http://www.fsa.gov.uk/register/ Current Status: Authorised Effective Date: 13/02/2004 Address: Hotham House 1 Heron Square Richmond upon Thames Surrey Post Code: TW9 1EJ Phone: 440870 730 7191 Fax: 44020 8605 3001 Email: No email address supplied Also, we DO have a member who is apparently a private detective posting here (I've forgotten his moniker). He appears capable of finding out what you had for breakfast this morning using means unknown to common mortals such as ourselves... He might be someone to contact if you think you've enough information to trace and track your hacker/blackmailers. Of course, confronting them in Tchechenia, Romania or the Gobi Desert might be another problem, but it could be a lead....
  20. The thing that differentiates RWG from Fortune 500 companies is that is not just business...it's personal. We like being 'sensitive'....it keep us feeling human, and not ready to betray our friendships, core values and our ideas of what's right and what's wrong for a thirty percent discount on a piece of leather that one can find just by clicking on RWI.
  21. Thanks for the music, admin - it's always interesting to see what people are listening to - and to discover what it actually sounds like! :-)
  22. Welcome back Veni... I've never bought a strap from you (I've never bought a strap from anyone) but I've followed your projects and contributions to this forum. In a word, you're family.
  23. In all fairness relative to my earlier post, Paul seems to be personally trying to resolve the problems evoked in the 'Similar Topics' threads listed below. A very good move indeed.
