  1. I actually have a PO Chrono (orange with orange rubber strap) on the way in from Intime.   Took Ryan quite a while to find one that met his quality standards, but the QC pics look like he was successful!   I'll update in a week or so, when it arrives.

  2. There's quite a bit of info here and there on this subject.   For the most part, movements in reps coming from China CAN be poorly lubed and/or dirty.   That being said, I have a number of pieces that have never been opened and operate perfectly!

If you are purchasing a rep that will get a LOT of wrist time and one you want to keep for the long term, a basic clean & lube service is not a bad idea.   It'll cost you in the area of $100-$150.

There are a number of members here who do such work, but they tend to be very busy.   The do great work, but you'll need a lot of patience as it may take months to work your way through their backlog and get the watch back.

Another option is to search out watch-smiths in your area.   You'll need to carefully approach them to determine if they are willing to work on reps.   Many will not.    When talking with them, make it clear that you aren't talking about a Canal St. quality rep, but one that really is well made, with an Asian movement.

  3. Having some 28 watches to choose from has changed my attitude since discovering this hobby.    I love the two gens I have, but frankly, they get almost no wrist time.   Having a wide selection of choices every day is far more attractive to me than spending $5k and up for a plain old SS Sub.

  4. I think there's a lot of validity in this question.   So many of the recent PAM releases are offer only very slight differences from previous models.   Personally, I have 6 PAM reps in my collection and there is nothing new out there that makes me want a number 7.

    My preferences focus around 44mm and 47mm pieces of which I have 3 each.   029, 196 Daylight, 188 Daylight, 389, 371 Regatta, 382 Bronzo

Is the concept of introducing new models which are only slight variants of existing models finally wearing thin?

  5. I look at it more simply. These guys who can mode with such skill make me envious. They spend substantial monies to satisfy the urge to make these wonderful pieces.

Of course, if and when it comes time to sell, they want to recoup as much of their investment as possible. If someone takes it, all is good! If they are priced above what anyone is willing to pay, they have decisions to make.

Why criticize? Let the market decide. So simple.

  6. There have been so many posts in these forums regarding the situation with reps and Swiss ETA's, that it's hard to imagine anyone visiting here regularly and not being aware of it.    Or is it just the paradigm of thinking that a Swiss movement MUST be the better choice, especially since it costs more?

Maybe someone should press the TD's for their point of view on these movements and request that until something changes, they refrain from offering them?   Mods here seem to have a great rapport with many TD's and MIGHT be able to pry some real info from them?

  7. LOL!!!   There are a number of replica watch forums besides this one.   In ALL of them, you will find that asking "Who makes the best sub" will immediately get you on the top of the shit list.   There's a wealth of information in the new member area and it does take some time and patience to weed through it, but that's what you need to do.   Take ample time to learn and you'll then find this is a great place.   I'm in several forums and this one is by far, the best.

what kind of forum is this! somebody wants help! but everybody writing here like an enemy, that s not right
