  1. Throwing this out for discussion....

I'm not clear on how TD's are managed, but I would think that Ryan (Intime) should be considered for new TD status here.   All reviews I have seen, both here and on RWI, point to them as being a stellar dealer.   I personally have done one deal with them and could not have been more impressed.

Is there some process or protocol than needs to be followed?   Does the dealer have to request it?

  2. Too late for that!   Your reputation is cast in cement already.

Can I afford a $6,000 Rolex?   Sure I can.    Can I afford GEN versions of all 17 reps I have?   No I cannot.

Do I try to pass my reps off as gens when asked?    NEVER.

Why do I find myself drawn to this hobby?   Because a $6,000 Rolex Submariner is a farce in my view.   A stainless steel sub is a great $500 watch, but not worth anywhere near $6,000 in any sense of reasonability.   I refuse to make Rolex super rich on my back.   A well made rep sub, with proper service and treatment can be 95% of the gen, @ 10% (or less) of the cost.   The current 1:1 reps are amazingly well made, especially for what they cost.    I enjoy having a well made mechanical watch on my wrist, without having to spend a small fortune, only to line someone else's pockets.

Part of the challenge in this hobby is to have a high quality piece, for a fraction of the GEN cost.........

. I am not here to gain "reputation"

  3. Push the crown fully IN, then carefully pull it out until you find the right position for date adjustment.   Some of these Chinese movements can be finnicky, so you just have to diddle with it till you get the knack of it.

Setting the time then trying to push in a click to do the date is almost impossible, I find.

  4. I've always leaned the same way as Nikki6 in that I don't typically care what others think about my choice of watches.    HOWEVER, I have to admit I'm having a bit of a difficult time with my new AP Schumi.   Even though nobody around here actually knows the value and details of the Gen version, this thing draws a lot of attention!   This is my 3rd day with it and I've received at least 5 comments on it.   Nothing else in my collection even comes close to that level of attention.  Even my Pam Bronzo with the baseball glove strap doesn't get as much attention..........

I wear mainly Breits, the odd Tag and Pam. Kinda like Big Minty Bear, I don't consider them to be flash or showing off, hell I can't even see them, but wear them as a part of myself. I hate the feeling of not having a watch on my wrist!

Not sure what people think of me or my watches, don't really care to be honest, but most are more concerned with making fun of my hair and clothes than taking note of a watch!

  5. Gotta ask. Why are you in here at all? You clearly have no love or desire for owning reps. Trolling maybe?

I have been a part of this hobby for only a year. But, I do have a box full of reps and have yet to have a single one one fail on me. These include a number of A7750 based chronos.

Do I expect Gen-like performance over the long haul? Not at all. But I'm not spending Gen money either. Could I afford gen versions of all 17 reps in my watch box? Nope. Do I pretend that they are gens when questioned? Nope!

I enjoy them for what they are. Regardless of any and all shortcomings, they really are quite well made for the price paid.

The hobby seems not to be for you, so accept it and troll elsewhere.

MY Mall FixIT watch place can't repair any automatics.....Basically battery changers. One of the reasons I rather buy Citizens, Ritmos Seikos Bulovas ETC for $300+. I cannot find a local watchmaker who will service a counterfeit watch. Some of them stop within months. Plus many are selling for over $500. I won't pay $300+ for any Chinese watch. Especially Chronos with 7750s

  6. Ask them if they work on Reps.   Tell them exactly what you have and what the movement is.   See if they are receptive or if it scares them away.   If they don't want to deal with Reps, they won't hesitate to tell you.

Tell them you want a clean & lube.  If it's gaining or losing significant time, ask them to adjust that as well.
