  1. Just google "riyi002 ebay" and you'll find his store page. Message him there.
  2. Last fall I bought a 6542 bakelite insert for my Pan Am build from dung_chrono that appears to be the same as the one posted here... It's almost finished, and when it is I was planning on selling it because I've since acquired dlf's Pan Am (picking it up today in person), however now I'm thinking of getting a black dial for this one after seeing these pics - are those dials supposed to be gilt?
  3. Definitely helps! Now… howzabout a shot of that dial?
  4. Brilliant, thanks M! So in the end it appears a $6 Clark 25-21 will do the trick. Or perhaps I bin the whole thing and build a v72? Spent another hour last night consuming "That Big Red Freshness" again And Mark I'm betting yours was a gen service T21 as well. But I'll take your advice and go with the dome. Thanks all!
  5. To make it more specific, droptop's friend also wants to get a watchny bezel and insert as well... http://www.ebay.com/itm/281739316447?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT So the question, then, is whether or not a flat top (beveled) T22 would work with the NY bezel as opposed to the more rounded T21, assuming the bezel assembly is gen spec (I believe LHOOQ used this on his V72 build). By the way, the case is a DW.
  6. Attaboy Mark! Looks incredible… I love those beveled edges. I didn't realize there was such texture in the dial. Easily the most vintage looking new watch I've ever seen. Well done sir
  7. I'm not here much, but I'll pop in once a day or so to see what's happening. My home forum (where I post more often) is RWG.bz - this is probably one of the forums many of you are referring to when noting a lack of civility toward newer members. It's the wild west over there. We have a few rather notorious members who make a living disparaging other people. For some reason, the staff don't seem to mind - perhaps because they're entertained, or the members in question benefit from longevity, or whatever (our staff are a cooky tribe) - but on at least a semi-regular basis, someone's getting ripped somewhere. At times, and with the benefit of experience, I will find myself furrowing with weariness at yet another noob question that would take them three seconds to solve on their own if only the search button was employed. But I s'pose we were all there once. However, for each one of those idiots, there are 10 more people just as kind. I make a mental note of people I have no desire to interact with, and simply ignore everything they say. I've found that with every one of those people, there is a driving desire to be noticed. These attention-whores are weak flames needing oxygen (attention) to survive. Without it they flicker out. I wish more people adopted my attitude, because I think these muppets would just go away. But inevitably someone fires back, my neck gets sore watching the volley of insults, and the whole progression is reinforced. On the whole though, in my experience, the ratio of kindness to douchebaggery leans toward the former. I possess zero animosity toward anyone on the fora - this is fun, not life. The only response the members in question tend to provoke in me is indifference. I will say that as a relative "outsider" here, I can confirm that you lot are quite genteel and immediately friendly. It's that "immediate" part you don't see as often on other forums. Cheers gents
  8. Thank you sir! I spent a wee bit of time yesterday spying your 6263 build you sold awhile back - holy mother of god that thing was gorgeous. Hats off to you fella
  9. Think I can finally post a couple pics now… let's have a go...
  10. I've been on the brink of selling the lot more times than I can count. Trouble is the only gen I would do it for would require selling a heck of a lot more than just my watch collection. So instead, I sold most of 'em, and set out to find some really rare reps. Did that for a bit, and now I find myself with another full watch box Oh well. I tried
  11. This is sickening to read OP… To put so much work in collecting and refining - I'd lose my s*** if that happened to me. Hopefully all of it is replaceable and you didn't have too many rare pieces.
  12. I agree with this. Personally, if I were ever going to consider dropping several K on a franken it would be for a vintage Daytona, as the gen would run me north of $30k. So something really close for a heck of a lot cheaper than the real deal would be worth it to me. To each his own. Some love the hunt, but I've read enough build threads to know how much of a headache they can be, so in effect I'm paying a premium to have all the work done for me. On the other hand, as some here have said, if the gen isn't that much more in price, I'd be less willing. Just my 2c.
  13. Just outside of Portland, OR. And yes, I've spent the last few hours reading all the vinTona posts I could get my hands on. Some unbelievably impressive stuff.
  14. Technically, I've been a member here for over a year, but I spend most of my time on RWG.bz, some on RWI, and I dabble a bit on the Geek. But today a buddy of mine on the .bz sent me a link to a watch for sale here to ask my opinion. Tried the link and couldn't see it because I wasn't logged on here. Didn't even know if I had an account, so I tried my login/password from the other fora, and sure enough! Figured while I'm at it I'd mosey over here and introduce myself. So hello! I'm up in the good ole' Pacific Northwest, and my long-suffering wife has been putting up with my rep hobby for the last decade plus. As I said, I spend most of my time on the other RWG, but as my tastes have expanded, so has my fora participation. I'm primarily interested in vintage Daytonas - a fancy that can quickly bankrupt its unsuspecting victim. Aside from that, I'm into Breitling (just picked up an SOH V2), A. Lange, Patek, Omega, Tudor, and I've got a bit of a thing for rose gold AP ROOs (Don Ramon, RG Themes, LBJ) - I know I know, they're blingy, and the movement is a time bomb, but I'm easily distracted by shiny things. But my first love is the 6263. I have a couple DWs (gold dial; Albino), a modded cartel gold/black dial, and a special Big Red built by another member. I'd post pics of them here but apparently I can't until I have 5 posts (I'll rectify that shortly). So hi gents; good to be aboard! Cheers, Ish
