cib0rgman,
the watch turned out great; hats off to ziggy too. my GW is due back any day now. i too am impressed by the superior lume job. i am confident that my dial will display the master's touch. keep us in the loop as to the progress you make with further modifications.
OK the cannon will be an easy fix but for the crown I guess I need to get busy looking for one. I bought a Palp crown months ago, that Ziggy profiled in a post, that had a bent stem that rendered it useless.
Do anyone have a spare SS palp crown?
No black dial. The panerist reference page lists it as being brown for the 219 but a while back V told me it should be black. The movement is being replaced with something appropriate. I need to file down and level the lever pin in the crown guard too. Anything else?
My 219 is having some work done soon. Would the Panerai experts take a look at my photo and chime in on what should be done on this final journey.
Thank you.
Congratulations Cats.
You got a real looker there. I will have my GW back in a few days. Even though I went with the flat-top I really like the look of the domed crystal. I guess that will be for the next project.
Wear it in good health!
Thank you asad for your gen picture. This really gives me more perspective and a much better sense of contrast. I see from your signature that you too own a 219.
Base love brother.
asad would you care to elaborate?
Thank you Victoria. I am a quality over quantity kind of guy and usually do exhaustive research to find it. That being said, I take steps to modify my reps to be as close to the real thing as possible. Wouldn't this watch serve both my objectives well?
I got a jones for another base pam. This time I want a case-back model and have been considering the 000. Just the other day I noticed this post by Davidsen:
