I use a sawn-off dental probe, myself. I got several of them a few years ago at a swap meet. Dirt cheap, but the link removal tool is probably a safer way to go if you're not too 'handy'. A pierced finger or thumb is still not in vogue!

Well, I finally decided to see what all the Rolex fuss was about, and dropped all of $98 (+$30 S&H) on this (pretty accurate) LV from 'Trusty'. Only eight days to get here, and keeping great time, too. http://usera.imagecave.com/f5mando/1st-ROLEX/

Thanks. It arrived two days ago, and it's in really good nick, & appears to be a 1961 flavour.. It got a new strap yesterday, and entrusted to my "little man down the road" for a check-up, regulation, and general rub down with an oily rag (as my dear ole' dad used to say)! More pics when I get it home again.

It arrived today, and it's a beaut. It's actually SS, but in really good nick. The strap's knackered, and the Omega buckle digs into my wrist at the pin end. A replacement strap should take care of that little problem. I'll be taking it to my watch guy for a good going-over and a cleaning/service in any case (pardon the incidental pun). I'll post some pics when it's done..

I bought one this year from Silix but I had to return it: wonky markers and a couple of other probs. They take a long time to do anything, and after trying them a couple more times (again with duff product) it's highly doubtful I'll buy again.

The '3' position marker size varies on these, depending on the dial colour and/or case material. All the with dial/gold marker gen. AT's I've seen have the larger marker at 3. I've not seen any with the seconds hand lume that big, though.

That's beauty! These beauties are so rarely discussed on the boards (I haven't come across any, yet). Regretfully, I don't have the answer to any of your questions, but I too am looking for a particular Aqua Terra: The white dial with blue "trim", including the blue logo. The dealers' offerings I've seen all bear a silver Omega dial logo. Anyone?

That's a-one tasty full-size. HINT: small dials configuration - FULL SIZE: 60......30 .......................12 REDUCED: 30......60 .......................12

If it's supposed to be a Schumacher "Legend" it should look like this http://www.omegawatches.com/index.php?id=2...&no_cache=1 otherwise, if it's a reduced then the small dials are configured correctly. Fot a 'full size' they would be reversed. The "Legend" appears to be a different animal altogether, judging by the dials, their respective positions, and of course, the date window. Yes, the caseback is incorrect, but so is the seconds hand. The '007' should be '007', and at the pointer end of it there's a hole where it should be showing luminous paint!

The GMT 2007 at precioustime seems to my eye to be as close to a gen as any I've seen. A dab of red paint to the tip of the seconds and GMT hand* will finish it off quite nicely. That's next on my list. The others I've seen have short hands, and/or incorrect lettering ie. 'AUTOMATIC' instead of "CHRONOMETER'. *I believe a new version may be on the way that won't need my paintbrush..

My vote goes to the Byzantium model. It's not so common in gen or rep versions, but the rep I got is the closest to gen as I've seen anywhere. I got mine in May. My only gripe is the datewheel, which is slightly off, being a little off-position toward the centre of the dial, and the font is inaccurate, too. A small issue, but one that I've been attempting to resolve with Jay and Angel for many months, now. I don't have a pic of a gen, but here's the one from the Omega site. I'll attempt a shot of mine, though I'm not so hot with the camera. BTW: It keeps perfect time ever since it was regulated. It gets compliments all the time.

The 'Seamaster' logo in red denotes the co-axial (virtually maintenance-free) escape movt.
