  1. A relentlessly agreeable horologist? I don't think I've ever seen one of those.... No, of course we won't tell her (unless you accidentally tell us where she goes to grad school..and her name)!
  2. Hey, lanikai- That's an awesome looking example. Well done, sir! Nice pearl, fantastic AR, and cherry topping correct DW. Did you replace the bezel insert and DW, or did you just get lucky?
  3. (Quote: Toadtorrent) "Thanks for that. Good to hear you can get one with pins. Do you know if they finished the inside better? The old rep bracelet didn't have the cleanest finishing on the inside surface of the bracelet". Yes, the inside of the bracelet is very clean. None of that ole sharp edge, either. The only thing I had to do was file down the lug links, as they weren't finished. This obviously wouldn't be a problem with a complete watch, but they were too wide to fit between the lugs before I took a file to them.
  4. Is the omega writing and number on the clasp there? it's hard to tell from Andrew's pics. But of course!
  5. Right! This is what we (who buy/bought the chrono rep) all have. Some got lucky with the good ETA type date font, but other than that, if they're not side by side (or being examined by an 'expert'), one can't tell the difference. Bottom line - on your wrist, even examined up close by 99.99% of folks with whom you will come into contact will not even think that it's not a gen - mostly because the assumption, unless they're informed otherwise (or if it's an obviously nasty $10 knock-off) is that it is the genuine article. You too, will be happy with the look and feel of this rep.
  6. The "line through the logo" feature to which you refer is only on the new models/versions. I can't speak so definitively on the logo. I have a gen SMP 300m, but I'd need a magnifying glass to see something that minute.
  7. As promised, here are some shots of the replacement bracelet from Andrew that I'm so pleased wih. You probably can't see the pins (just trust me). The extender has the proper hook which locks under the pin nicely, too (something the original didn't have).
  8. OMG, triplehd- I can't believe we still have to say, "Show us - don't tell us"! Where are the photo's! Especially to a member of your stature..
  9. What date? We can watch it online!
  10. I'd buy (hell - I'd even even sell) tickets to see that! Maybe "America's Got Talent" or some other 'reality' show would be interested?
  11. I'll try - but my photo's usually suck! Watch this space...
  12. Nah det's vadda call a votch! Great work on your in-depth pre-view review. Thanks so much. I really like this watch, but I think I'm still going to wait for a better all 'round rep of this one. Maybe the 4th generation "Ultimate" Hour Vision?!
  13. I just got a replacement bracelet for mine from Andrew. It's loads better than its original one: this new one has pins instead of those horrible screws, and seems to be all around of better quality and build. I especially like the clasp 'click' when I close it, which is almost as smooth (but will never be as good) as the clasp action on my gen SMP300. It even wins out on more wrist time, too. *The difference is definitely not worth filing a 'clasp action suit over' (sorry - I couldn't resist)..
  14. If you find this set of instructions intimidating, I suggest a visit to your friendly local watchsmith. My fellow replaced those parts with generic on my SMP chrono when the threads stripped. I'm only guessing, of course, but I would imagine he could do the same for this one. Good luck with whichever route you decide to take.
  15. Ouch! There speaks the bitter voice of experience, methinks..
  16. Damn, you're right! I'd forgotten about this beauty (perhaps because it's SOOOO far out of my budget..this month, anyway)..!
  17. I couldn't disagree with you more, sir: The whole point of these boards isn't to protect the dealers, and condone their bad behavior, low standards, and lack of ethics because, "compared to my previous experiences he is a relative saint.."! When I read rubbish like, "He's always been good to me..yadda-yadda-yadda caveat emptor", and all that - all I can say is, "bully for you, mate"! This "I'm alright, Jack" attitude is of no use to anyone but the braggardt saying it. That doesn't do anything for the rest of the unfortunate dupes who got screwed where you got lucky. Aren't we here (and please correct me if I'm wrong) to share and to benefit from each others' experience, and keep the standards of replication and dealings as high as we can at reasonable prices? For too long I've been hearing this line of wussie excuses being made on the dealers' behalf, and it just doesn't wash - it never did. Some of us at least are, "mad as hell and we're not going to take it any more". Why should Jandrew (or any other wheeler-dealer/drop-shippers, for that matter) continue to benefit from the (oft-misguided) loyalty of our board members? Illegal business or not, these boards full of enthusiasts parting collectively with large sums of hard-earned dosh has legitimized their dealerships. Who else feels like their walking on egg-shells when trying to resolve a dispute with one of them? I for one am glad this has all come out. I only hope that some good can come of this, like the honest dealers will reap the rewards of their honesty by getting the redirected business that would have gone to that watch mafia.
  18. What a beaut! Where did you get this version? It looks pretty good to me (I have the old version). What are the "serious mods" needed? It looks like the gen to my eye - comparing to the Omega site pics. http://www.omegawatches.com/index.php?id=2...&no_cache=1
  19. This one's my choice. I got a new in-the-box 2531.80 a few months ago. The rest of my watches have lost 90% of their wrist time since then. If you like these, you'll have to hunt for a new one. All the AD's I found only had the new co-axial. It compares to its predecessor in the same way that the MkII Range Rover lost most of its panache..
  20. I've had a Silix and a couple of Jandrews, and they all sucked compared to the King one shown here. If I hadn't already sprung for a gen, I'd jump on one of these (not with shoes on, of course)!
  21. What a beautiful collection, Richard. These can't really all be reps - Consider me officially green..I must (learn to) take and post a photo of my modest 'collection'!
