  1. True. Speaking for myself, I have to be sold on what I'm wearing to enjoy it. *I do get a kick out of throwing them whatever I have on to inspect, when asked about it, though!
  2. Yeah, I know what you mean. I just can't get past that funky sub-dial spacing. Only the SMP chrono configuration can look right (although I still can't source a correct font date-wheel for the asian Valj)..Anyone?
  3. Just ordered mine from WBK, but I've already decided - I'm definitely going to buy a used 2531.80 in the next few weeks!
  4. You can find a gen insert for less than that on fleabay.
  5. Well, you got exactly what you looked, found, and paid for, didn't you, sir? A cheap quartz knock-off of a great watch. If all you wanted it for was a 'larf' why would the maintenance be an issue with an auto? Don't even bother to service it, and only wear it for a lark. At least a good auto rep of this model is one of the best 'out of the box', & will fool most people..even dealers are fooled by the SMP chrono automatic.
  6. Same here! I have yet to get a good one. I had one from Jay, and two from Andrew. All of them duff. I've been promised a replacement from Andrew next week. I'll let you know... * I guess the 'new factory' models aren't up to snuff.
  7. Yup, that's a beauty. Mine arrived a few days ago, but I've had no luck with the bezel alignment. Tried the hairdryer method, and it won't budge. The bezel wont come off complete, either. Surprising, as it rotates very easily - not the crisp clicks of a SMP.. Amendment, March: Half an hour on a sunny windowsill worked a treat. Mine's perfick, now!
  8. I don't understand. I just got one last week, and I don't see any diiference between the gen and rep crown. Did you repalce the date-wheel? The font on mine is crappy..
  9. Have you ever tried to regulate it? If you're nervous about it, just take it to a repair shop and have them do it for you. It's a common request from customers. They do it all the time, and it should only cost you a few dollars (or equivalent in your local currency). I've had several done this way, and even do them myself these days. My ETA-powered Omega Byzantium rep for example, keeps the closest time to my Casio Wave Raptor. After synchronizing all my watches (reps and gens alike) two months ago to the aforementioned self-adjusting digital, the Byzantium is only eleven seconds behind it (slow). My guess is the gen of this wouldn't be this accurate. The rep cost me $150 last year! Happy twiddlin'!
  10. Welcome- and yes, it is a great board.
  11. Thanks for that, keiron99 - Is he kidding? For $400 I'd expect superlative service and a [censored] by the FCC. Where's the bargain here? :cc_confused:
  12. Would you mind posting the working link/s you use for a dumbass like me (could I be the only one, or just the only one owning up)? I just ordered a SMP chrono from (your favourite) Andrew..
  13. Well, all I see is a few rings, no watches whatsoever. No contact info, either! No joy at the eBay link..
  14. I just went to the site, and I couldn't find any watches from him..unless I'm missing something.
  15. Ain't that the truth!
  16. No question. Send it back. No QC in some of these places. Bloody annoying, considering the added expense to return it + the additional wait time, all the while hoping you're going to get satisfaction this time around..Who sent you this?
  17. Nice gurning, luisik! Not you, I take it..?!
  18. Welcome from sunny California (where chemtrails rule the sky..)!
  19. Love that '06 Limited (I never did find one close enough)..What was Mal wearing when he dropped his bike?!
  20. Did you get the newer co-axial one, or the 'original flavour'?
  21. [quote name='FxrAndy' You can find these with the correct case back with aqua terra engraved fitted with ETA 2824/36 and Seagull ST 18, the ST 18 looks more accurate than the 2824/36 versians due to the fact it is a copy of the ETA 2892, the base movement to the co-axial works fitted in the AT 39mm rep. The railmaster is just a top watch if you get the 2006 version with the better dial.
  22. Congrats, Andy - that's a beautiful watch, and well worth the wait. Superb photo's and very impressive, detailed review. This is what we love to see (well, I do - I dunno 'bout the reat of yuz)! I haven't been able to find one I could live with, so I've a feeling I'll be buying a gen at some point down the road. Wear it in good health, and enjoy!
  23. RE: "Time flies like the wind. Fruit flies like bananas". I use this one myself, and I believe it is actually thus: "Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana". Groucho Marx
  24. I just saw "The Assassination Of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford" followed by a Q & A with Casey Affleck. I really enjoyed it on the big screen (made me jump a couple of times, too)! Cheers
