  1. I just finished watching the James Bond Special. The first thing I noticed was the date mag, then the CG
  2. The Swiss-T<25 denotes a Tritium Dial. These sub dials were manufactured in the late 80,s and 90's. The tritium of course makes the markers and the hands glow in the dark.
  3. Thanks for that alligoat, it
  4. It's 1995 alligoat. > > Well, I hope it's all on the level anyway, because I just agreed to buy the dam thing. (Just waiting on a final delivered price) Would anyone like to look it over before I send the money? Remember the dollars are in AU so $3500 is around US $3125. Submariner Link I think I've done enough homework on this one and I'm hoping with a service it shoud come up a treat.
  5. Thanks guys, I also found this Gen "W" Serial Sub, which is a match.
  6. Thanks By-Tor. I tried hard to find a picture of a gen dial the same as this one. Could you give me a little push in the right direction? EDIT: The '1' in 1000, looks oddly close to the '000'.
  7. Hey Guys, Do you think this is a Gen or a Rep? Notice the (flatter) font, especially on the 'S' in Submariner. Submariner Link Also the '1' in 1000. I don't know enough about these mid 90's Subs to make the call, but the font looks different to a lot of gen sub dials from the same period. Rip into it...if you can.
  8. Looks great pfff, I reckon ageing is one of the most convincing mods you can make to a rep. Instead of
  9. Makes me want to go climbing. :0) Credit where credit is due By-Tor, that
  10. Look forward to seeing some clear close ups.
  11. My sentiment exactly. Thanks Freddy; that's gorgeous.

Thanks TeeJay. Agreed, that's a good read.

I can't say I'd agree with that, I would like to own the Sub as well as my Black SMP and I like both watches for different reasons. If I could justify paying the price of two of these 2254's to buy one Rolex Sub, I would buy one. I'm a fairly pragmatic person however and I just can't see the sense in it, out side of the investment potential. I have found the speedy style bracelet to be very smooth and comfy and easy to forget about, it is heavy though and I guess sosme people don't like that.

Heh, that's a clever point P4GTR. Ha, thanks Pug I'll keep that in mind. Don't get me wrong I actually really admire both watches a lot. It would seem my disappointment however was based on a misunderstanding of the Sub design. I still may in the future 'go all in' and buy a Sub atm though, I can't go past the beauty of this Black gen SMP that I am wearing right now. In fact I just sized and attached a secondhand gen bracelet to it so that I can put the original bracelet away and keep it in mint condition for any possible future sale. Would you like to have a shot at explaining the pointy CG

Thanks for that Toadtorrent, this point did occur to me after Pugs comment on the weight. It certainly has redeemed the watch somewhat in my mind.

Thanks Pug, that brings back a little of the magic. Yes I

    Hey Pugwash. How so?

Thanks guys. Swdivad, I actually read that article a few times before I bought the SMP this year. Now that I look at it again the stand out to me (and I am well aware of the irony of what I am about to type) was the Gen Sub
  19. That looks awesome freddy; Merry Christmas. How could anyone call that without holding it under their nose?
  20. Hey striker, I was about to disagree with you and say that they are made to handle general shock in sport; but 3900 shocks a week? That is not something I would want an expensive chronometer to be enduring. Having said that though, I was finally convinced to by mine by a bricklayer who said he wears his to work everyday. Leaving it laying around though, that's yet another story and a point well made.
  21. I think it is not moving because it's missing the Bond factor. With the hour markers, speedy bracelet and sword hands, it's doesn't resemble the Bond Seamaster 2531.80 and with a blue dial and silver bezel, it doesn't resemble a Rolex Submariner. I'll probably get shot in the Omega area for this, but I think that a big portion of the popularity of the black version of that watch, (the 2254.50) and the new Planet Oceans, (apart from the fact that the PO 'is' a bond watch) is that they both resemble a Rolex Sub and look the part on a black NATO. I like what Pug said; buy what floats your boat, life is too short to do otherwise and you can't take it with you.
  22. That's a good suggestion. How about it lanikai, can you get the bracelet off that beauty?
  23. O.k. lanikai...best I could do atm with your shots. First Josh's MBW, then out of the box MBW then, Gen. First Josh's MBW, then TTK's MWB. First Josh's MBW, then TTK's MWB. First Josh's MBW, then paso's MWB.
