  1. they were little sticker sortve things? tell me you didnt disgard them. :whistling: If you kept them, you can just paste them back on the indices they fell out of. Everyone will have their opinions on glue, a tiny dot of elmers will work just fine. Make sure you paste it right side up (match the texture to the other ones on the dial). If you've lost them, then your looking at a dial replacement or relume, unless you can find someone here with an extra endice they can send you. I can check to be sure, but I just got rid of all of the spare Rlx sport dials I had laying around or i'd volunteer one for you.

  2. The very one indeed. It may even be indirectly responsible for the factory deciding to make it after seeing it on the boards on patrol - at least that is what one dealer told me once. A great watch for sure. I'm just out of my big substantial braceleted steel phase I guess. Doing more in the way of comfort and smaller understated elegance these days. Still the best looking in its class though. I will never dispute that...

    How you been brother?

Me? I've been.. Well, I'll just say fine and leave it at that. It's always a pleasure to see you pop in, all the best to you and yours my friend.

So I think you're right about that factory thing. I'd actually wondered if that could've been a factor.

I was disappointed there was none with your dial color made. None of the others grew on me quite enough.

  3. Welcome! not sure what a b/m store is. A lot of the watches you will notice are the opposite, rearing their crystals outwards like ape's flaunting their chest size. There are a lot of really nice TAG and Omega reps out there. For you, I might suggest a Planet Ocean from Reg on the boards here. Dealer name is Narikaa. Won't run you but about one Franklin. Nice starter watch, or a submariner from him, about the same price.

If you want to look into either the planet ocean or submariner, search for the terms POrikaa and noobmariner. Those are the nicknames for both of those.

Here's my 42mm POrikaa on leather and bracelet, all from Reg.

    Crystals aren't very protected nowadays.

  4. My current watch box? Oh, a liddle-a-dis and a liddle-o-dat... :whistling:

You're right, the stories are similar. The 6536 came from a cantankerous old fart who owned it from day 1. The DR came from a real great guy who owned it from day 1. The first guy was a commando type diver, the second guy was a commercial diver and instructor. First guy never had kids, second guy never had 'em. Both liked working with their hands, cutting wood, taking care of their missus. Both pretty much lived loner lives out on the fringe of society, taking big risks. Solid gents, both of them. But one died and his wife was glad to see him go (partially joking) and the other... when he died it just devastated her. He had a huge heart.

You know that SeaLab thing? He was there and helped build it. Jacques Cousteau? Diving buddies. Orange DOXA watches in the 60s and 70s? He helped them get the design right; they gave him one as a thank-you. He's been to the bottom of every sea with the DR, every large body of water as far as I know. Classified missions beneath the ice cap, worked the North Sea oil manifolds, you name it. That DR earned its scars. He's watched crystals blow off watches in chambers and he's been to 2,000' in chambers more times than you can shake a stick at. Years and years ago I asked him if I could borrow the DR for a dinner out, and swore up and down I'd get it back to him pronto. His reply? "I trust you with my life. Do you think I care about a watch?" That's who he was. Great guy.

Thats legendary, thanks for sharing. Hearing it in person while having a look at that DR would be good times, I'm willing to bet.

  5. Thanks mjmj, that one belonged to a SpecOps troop ... it was issued to him by the military. Because it's a recognizable brand, it was also considered "currency" in case they got in a jam. They could sell their watches anywhere in the world and get funds to get back home.

I used to cut and split quite a lot of wood with him, and would admire it as we worked. Well, he finally passed away ... can't really say he died, he was too ornery for that. Let's just say this world got tired of putting up with him.

At his funeral his widow found me and handed me something wrapped up in a rag, saying he wanted me to have it. I unwrapped it and just held my breath. He was a cantankerous old fart, and it was beat to hell and back, but it meant a lot that he wanted me to have it.

Now, many years later, it's getting close to being presentable again. Anyone have a gen bezel they want to sell cheap? :tu:

Sounds a resemblance of the double red. Surely not the same guy. So, different friends different Subs?

Either way I'm confused as to what Nanuq's current watchbox is looking like. Curious as to what our other admin's daily watch drawer is looking like these days, too. :whistling:

  6. Nice idea for a topic Chief.

Jkay, i'm flattered to see one of my watches in the 2nd post. That UN is very special, given to me by the owner of the 1st watch in the thread, Mr. Ubi-doo. ^_^

By-Tor and I have similar taste, so here are two beauties captured with class..

Nanuqs Gen double Red. A watch that looks like if it could talk, would have some good stories.

  7. The first pic. The Lamborghini LP640SV. The fastest Lamborghini in the world. I saw one in matte black at a show. I just stare and stare, gives me the chills to be around cars like that. Amazing Lani, I know i'm a little late to post but thanks for sharing!
