OK ?..but I'm trying to get this movement indentified first. I purchased this rep in Turkey 2 yrs ago. After extensive research and advice Im told it's a very high end rep but for my knowledge I would like help to indentify the movement first. If it's a good movement  clone or otherwise I will keep it as is👍

Extensive research and advice? Not even remotely a very high-end rep... at all.

You have a lot more extensive research to do my friend, and a lot more advice to take in. Or perhaps recalibrate your expectation of a high-end rep. I consider a high-end Sub rep to be minimum $600 - $1,000 and they do not have $15 movements inside them. All out quality 'franken' Sub rep's are $2500 to $3,200 for my money.

Here is someone selling the base to your watch (case, dial, movement) for $85

I don't mean to sound harsh, just hoping to give you some perspective so you don't get ripped off [again.]

Welcome to the community :) Enjoy!

There are things which cannot be seen (heard) in the QC pics.

Besides the crooked markers at 12, 3, and 9, which are very common, the miyota movement sounds cheap and noisy, and the rotor bearings of about 90% of the v3 15400 need to be silenced and oiled. Visually, the thickness is also a flaw which can be resolved. The watch can be thinned to 9.9mm (vs gen thickness of 9.8mm).

Also, I don't like the way the date changes. The date starts changing around 2300 - 2330 each day, and completes the change at midnight. The gen has an instant date change at midnight, much like the Rolex caliber 3135 or ETA2836. But that is me nitpicking. Most people can live with this flaw, but I just cannot.

Would you venture it possible to swap in a ETA movement, with the deco-plate on top to get that nice swiss reliability, and maintain the look? I wish they were closed-back... the movement will never be up to snuff, but I agree the slow prolonged date change is terrible.

Legend could you really work one of these over real nicely?

I don't know about our rep suppliers using the same steel as Rolex, now I know some of guys could test it (they have the know how) maybe they could.

Read this, call me pessimist but I doubt it comes close.

Makes sense - I would have to wonder what they're using? I'd love to see a 1:1 comparison with an older model versus newer 904L

I have an older explorer rep, I'm considering ordering the new "904L" one just to see what the difference looks like - I don't have any friends or contacts that are metallurgists... maybe I could send a link off to one and see what they say.

    thanks for your answers.

my real answer is how i can know what is good movement and what is not?

Almost anything that is standard non-complicated ETA clone will be fine or cheaply made to be fine. Some of the Venus 175 derivatives (ST19) can be a bit fragile.

ETA 7750 with full working chrono's in Daytona setup are bad news

As Mike says the different factories.have different specialties. For a modern Sub you should consider the Noob V7, for the 16610 the JF is the best currently available. If you are looking for a vintage piece, the answer is not so straight forward

A vintage piece is a right proper jump down the rabbit hole, eh mates?

Life cycle changes? I bought a house in the burbs, a Lexus, and started two college funds... no more building several thousand dollar frankens for a while, and also just not enough time. Perhaps that's it? Each board I'm on for whatever it happens to be for, experiences attrition due to varying factors, usually it's economic, lifestyle, and aging out of members.

  7. I have bought and traded many reps, built a crazy franken, and lost money on many,

STILL CHEAPER and less heartbreaking than saltwater fish :bangin:

That said I am disappointed by the lack of ingenuity/quality in chrono movements, but thrilled to see an improvement in decoration and thinness in others. Quality over-all is up across the board just in the few short years I've been here.

Not only are they real they are AMAZING.  Well I dont have the watch yet but the tracking number show that it will be here tomorrow.

Let me explain.  My friend said he ordered the 126600 ARF sea dweller from them.  So on Sunday night the 7th of January I sent Andrew a message asking if it was in stock.  He messaged me back saying yes.  I put my order in and paid.  On Monday the 8th I got QC pics.  I reviewed them.  They looked great.  So I OK'ed the watch.  On the Wednesday the 10, this morning at 430 am I got a message from them telling me it shipped.  Check this out.  It shipped and is being delivered tomorrow by end of business day.  That means it is shipped DHL next day.  WOW.  Talk about customer service.  Then at 12 pm I got a message from DHL (I signed up for notifications) that it was at customs in Cincinnati.  Then at 3pm I got a message that it cleared customs and is in route to NJ/NY and destination.  That is so cool.

I have never had customer service like this from a trusted dealer.  While the others are great, I have waited for long times and if I got it in 2 to 3 weeks I was happy.  Never did I get a watch in 4 days!  I will be buying from them from now on.

    That is unprecedented!
