  1. looks great.. hard to tell if the bead blastin is to harsh.. it can be fixed I'm sure

Armin.. use whatever service you want .. I'm upset for the tactics not the person.. and I'm definitely not saying to use one over the other.

    AC/L

lol lani.. i dont really mind whichever service i use either.. either way just like urs my project will go to zigmeister.. and i havnt decide what kind of pvd ill use anyway.. i do like the idea of dlc since its harder.. and i guess that means going with avitt.. but now im focusing more about the case :p.. i mean if theres no case theres no service is there? :p

but yeah i guess if the bead blast is too harsh im sure theres a way to reblast it.. :)

  2. I wouldn't hesitate to go with a Ti case, AVB! I've DLC coated a couple of them now, and have found the look to be identical to a coated steel case...I think it's all about the preparation.

hey avitt yeah i might do it if i cant get this ss case.. im at the point where im nearly giving up lol.. but the thing is.. would i be able to use ss crownguard on a ti case? would that look different, and would it fit? because i have a gen ss cg..

and how would the balance be? lol would it be heavy-sided if i do this? lol

  3. the pic you posted the other night appeared to be the correct case armin .. did you not get that one ??

nah unfortunately someone already took it.. you know what tho.. ive seen all these cartel titanium cases.. it kind of looked really good but im still not sure.. what do u think?

  4. :thumbsupsmileyanim: Just tried the crimp method and worked for me too. But the bad news is a fat part of the crimper pushed up on the crown and actually popped the crown and stem straight out of the movement when I squeezed. So now the stem no longer engages the movement and pulls freely in and out. :( I would definitely recommend removing the crown and stem first before crimping the tube just to be safe.

damn thats not good :(.. yeah this should be stickied in the iwc section i reckon.. but make sure that u take the crown out first!

  5. hey guys.. im still on a search for a correct pre-v pam case (after more than 1 yr believe it or not) right now.. i don't know if anyone has one for sale but i really do want to buy a pam 44mm case (older version case) so that i can finish my pre-v project!!!

  6. blah here we go.. ive always liked the EOD and when the secs at 12 came out i didnt have any cash what so ever.. but now my finance is getting better.. so i might want to get an audemars piguet to start building my collection again.. does anyone have any photos of the secs @ 12 of the end of days.. or the las vegas strip??

and other than the datewindow and the AP logo what are the flaws on the eod? thanks everyone

  7. I know for sure that EL's oiginal 100 was the first to be produced. There are some slight differences most certainly with the dial (markers/lume), and possibly with things like the case back, overall finising, engraving etc. I can't really say for sure whether these latter differences are intrinsic or even palpable by physical examination only; I've not had an EL100 and a 3rd generation example in hand to review side by side.

I can say for certain that the dials are different, and this may or may not be the selling point. The original EL100 is easier/better for relume work due to the construction of the luminous markers. The V3 is more problematic as the markers are applied differently, and stand to risk more damage to the dial upon removal.

Aside from that, I am not certain if there are any major differences with case or bracelet otherwise.

oh yes i understand about the lume markers on the dial :).. i got told by zigmeister when he did the relume for me that EL version was better in terms of the dial.. but i just dont understand why eddie lee actually charged for more back in the days.. only for the fact that his dial has the right lume where as the others had the numbers lumed (what is now known as v2)?

  8. well if i give out a name would i get in trouble or not is the question :p.. like i said its one of the cartel dealer anyway.. but it doesnt matter now.. i managed to fix it using sander's advice..

now i just hope that i got enough to pass the exam today :S

  9. The crown tube is the problem with these models. I'm pretty sure the crown is still ok.

The best way to solve it is to replace it for a new one but unfortunately the dealers will not supply it.

What normally works is to squeeze the tube just a little.

i just tried it and it actually worked :) for now anyway.. thanks for that :D

  10. ive name and shame this dealer so many times.. i dont think it work anymore.. all i can say that its one of the cartel.. the only reason i got it from them is because there was no other dealer to get the bp from.. all the other dealers i usually use dont stock the bp 5002.. does anyone know where i can get the replacement tube from?

  11. hey guys.. i had the worst day in my life ever.. the day started with me going to the exam.. and there was a car crash on the way so i was jammed in traffic.. by the time i got to the exam place.. i actually missed out on the first 20 mins of the exam!! this in turn i wasnt really settled throughout the exam and ended up not finishing it.. so i thought oh whatever.. at least my new bp is actually waiting at home.. so when i got home.. i went straight to the post office and got my bp from the post office..

then i opened the package.. and set the time on my bp.. however when i tried to screw the crown back in.. i found out that the thread is actually stripped.. and now im wearing it without the crown actually screwed in!!

so i emailed the dealer that i bought it from.. and he said that he 100% checked the watch before sending it and was sure that the screw wasn't stripped.. eventho i dont believe that he actually qc'd it (reason was because the watch had fingerprints inside the crystal and i asked him to check the datewheel that its aligned and non-recessed.. it came in with recessed and datewheel aligned to the left.. didnt really care about this tho).. but anyway.. i asked whether he could send me a replacement tube and crown.. and his reply was that since it's my fault (my fault for setting the time?) he won't send me a replacement.. so does anyone know where i can get a replacement crown and tube from this is for IWC BP 5002.. as i love the watch very much but i cant wear it now.. any help would be appreciated here thanks guys

  12. well i really dont know what restaurant kitchen condition is like.. but i really like cooking.. and if kitchen condition is like what it's like with the sous chef and head chef in iron chef.. then working fast pace like that is fine with me.. i can do it 12-14 hrs a day in it non stop...

but if it was like hells kitchen with marco or gordon.. with dumb ppl shouting in ur ear for no reason then i wouldn't work at that place.. ive heard alot on tv though that alot of other celebrity chef really despises gordon ramsay.. including mario batali saying that gordon actually makes other che look bad... and not many head chefs out there actually scream at their employees like gordon does..

so based on this comment, i would think that eventhough kitchen environment is fast paced and ur always under pressure.. u wouldnt actually get shouted non stop by ur executive chef like in hells kitchen? lol

nah cutting story short... really i want to be in the food industry because its really something im passionate about.. my sister and i actually have savings already that we saved up with a lil support of my parents to open up a restaurant (i heard u can start up a fine dining restaurant from $500k).. but i really want to learn how fine dining style restaurant works.. so i thought by gaining experience through apprenticeship then opening up my own little family restaurant then venturing into a fine dining restaurant as a long term goal would be feasible isnt it? i mean financial capital wise we're set... experience and skills wise.. we're no where there yet.. so i was thinking what steps can i take to achieve that (again my goal isnt really to be a famous celebrity chef or writing books), i just want to have a succesful restaurant that can provide a comfy living (maybe around 100-200k/yr) later on in my life..

i mean its good to hear that its not too late for me to start now.. :)

because really its at that point in my life that i finished uni and i really dont know where to start.. i really do want to start but eventhough im a marketing and management graduate.. i really cant stand working 9-5 every single day under an office roof sitting there doing boring things.. i would've thought working fast pace under pressure preparing some kind of art and knowing that ppl enjoy your work would be alot more interesting.. but hey im just a 20 yr old kid.. i need to learn from everyone here whos much more experience than me.. so any advice on what career path i should take? or whether or not my dream is feasible or not
