Finally my Franken Super Avenger is finished
anton replied to bwhitesox's topic in The Breitling Area
That is one beautiful SA. How about some shots of the caseback? It surely is getting there... Just one question, how is K222's AR coating? -
Perfection is what you define it to be. The "Asian SFSO" (21J Version) is far from it. Cosmetically, it is "perfect", but when you take aesthetics into consideration like how: 1) The "screws" on the bezel are irremovable 2) Some crooked lume markers 3) For some, the bezel pearl is off-center 4) and while we're still talking bezel, some have also reported that their bezels are also a click or two off perfect alignment at 12:00. Bear in mind I don't hate the SFSO. It is truly a rep to be deserving of "super rep" status, but the bezel not being able to be removed, to me, is what takes it off the "perfect" short list.

If that's a gen bracelet, you might wanna also "re-etch" the lines on the endlinks.
-
...would you let a watchmaker reverse-engineer it just to replicate the movement? There had been a growing desire to finally have some great reps out there, like the IWC Big Pilot, Omega PO Chronograph or even the new Breguet Chronograph. Heck, even we want split-timer functions on our PAM253 or Top Gun Doppelchronograph rep! And if the project was successfully reverse-engineered and engineered back again, at what premium would you pay for the replicated movement? Is it worth the extra bucks to finally have F.Piguet 1185 Copy or Rolex 4130 Copy movement(s)? The only downside is to find a qualified watchmaker that will service your movement.

Now we all know that the majority of the members on here have a rep or two and post it in their wristchecks, where's the love for the Gen Watch Wristchecks? You could tell me to go to TZ and see those, but I only care about the members of RWG. I'd like to see some variety besides all of those A7750-based reps and since all of you have a gen of some brand, let's see it! I also know some of you have the most INTERESTING gens out there! And no "frankens", please! I'll start off by doing the honors:
-
You can't expect "perfection" out of a $250 wannabe of a $4K watch. I know these "faults" are unacceptable, but most of us wouldn't even pay a premium if they decided to engineer all the details down to the "cartier" printing at 7:00. Of course, you could always buy the watch as is, replace the bezel screws (which scream FAKE, BTW), get a NOS dial, and you're already halfway there.
-
I've seen Ryan Seacrest wearing a Cartier Santos 100 lately.
-
I love the show. I like the up-and-coming starlets and the commentary. It's like a "little guy" competition. Randy Jackson usually wears a diamond-studded Ritmo Mvndo watch. Simon Cowell usually wears a Chopard Mille Migla (2894 version). Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Here's an interesting read about that function: Tachymeter Usage and Function But right now, unless you know your math and are pretty quick in calculations, I think it's pretty safe to say that most of the time, the tachymeter is pretty much cosmetic. I remember it being used back when it was relevant in the 50's and 60's. But now you benefit from more accuracy with quartz and digital chronographs that instantaneously calculate this information with almost no rate of error.

Are you talking about those posts with seemingly "retaliatory" titles? I guess those were in response to some member's displeasure with his work.

Wow, i thought that was a woman! Then i take it back! The funniest avatar I've seen of you so far is the one with the legomen and the floppydisk. I went by that corner of Broadway and Canal Sts. today. That area is leased by Sleepy's and they had been trying to get those vendors out of there for awhile now so they could start building a first floor (or an entrance at least) to their showroom, which is located on the second floor. It was stark empty today and no hustle and bustle. I still saw some of the vendors (solicitators) out there and they were hollering at me over like a tourist (could be my Texas Tech hat). Only things I could see were pasmina scarves and umbrellas. I'll be there tomorrow and I'll try to get some shots in. Since I forgot my real-camera, you'll all have to suffice with some cameraphone shots. @ 12:12PM I couldn't get in any meaningful pictures; it didn't help that most of Canal St. is still boarded up. It's like walking right into a ghost town.
-
Victoria, That must be THE UGLIEST avatar you have selected, ever. And I'm possibly counting the future. Heaven forbid you look like that. Then you need to stay in the house. Lights off and blinds shut. We see the half-a s sed efforts the governments take on "cracking down" on counterfeit goods, but it never stops. Maybe it might slow down, but it'll never stop. Do you all remember that one picture of that man who steamrolled all those reps on the road? (I can't remember where it came from). I think it just creates media frenzy and puts a slightly positive tone to the government(s) participating in the raids. Look at how concerned we are getting about the canal st. raids when maybe but a few of us buy our reps there. So should we worry? Not, since someone is already working on a way to get the reps back out there.
-
And now back to the issue at hand... are you assuming that all Chinese Nationals are involved in some type of counterfeiting industry? that, my friend, is conspiracy theory at its' finest. besides, I think we all know how the US Government operates. If they can't figure out a way to make money off us, why not make it illegal right? I know that the essence of combating the "counterfeiting industries" is to protect the Intellectual Properties of its' designer. But let's say that hypothetically, in a perfect world, all these "counterfeit" items came into the shores as novelty items and nothing else, thus being legal, thus having to be taxed by the government. I see no raids there.

Which one? I've got a BR01-96!
-
Hi Magiko, and Welcome to the forum. If you are interested in any Bell & Ross replicas, please visit the "Other Watch Reviews" section where you will find a write-up of some of the B&R Replicas I owned, namely the BR01 series. The 1.3mm screws that are on the gen, but just a cosmetic lookalike on the rep on the backside of the case allow to remove the "endlinks" on the watchcase. One of the uses of the BR01 was to use it as a deskclock; therefore the screws on the back that could be moved and then placed on the deskstand. One the rep, unfortunately, this "endlink" is not removable.

Cousins Material Shop in the UK should have some; make sure you order the 3.15mm version and not the 2.65mm!
-
Doesn't the so-called 'upgraded version' have the silver rings around the lume indices, thus making it "not so much upgraded"?
-
It is a modified ETA 2892-A2 with Dubois-Depraz 14400 Jump-Hour Complication. And in case you were wondering if there is a "rep version" of this movement, read this: Alpha Jump Hour Watch So a Flying B impossible??? I think not!
-
All I see for this "newer" bracelet design is mimicry and cost reduction. Sure, prices may stay the same, but less precision, time, and effort is needed to produce the bracelet. At least the good news is that maybe the rep makers will finally get the replication of the bracelet right. I wonder why they could never replicate how the bracelet tapers down?!?!?
-
I wonder if that guy also calls his Submariner a "Submarine-er" instead of a "Sub-Mariner" Oh, and I was doing some watch-spotting too, but again, we come to argument, the wife and I. Apparently she wasn't paying attention to the movie(s) being won and asked me. And though I looked to be concentrating on the TV screen, it wasn't surely for the women's duds or award recipients.
-
Anyone who tells you that they can't differentiate between the Gen and Rep bracelet is grossly misinformed, IMO. The endlinks are the biggest tell---they etched lines of the endlinks on the rep are not as pronounced and as deep as the gen. That includes the navitimer and pilot bracelets. Other than that you can't go wrong with the Rep TT Bracelet. Its' plating doesn't wear away as fast as popular belief would lead you to believe, but do use it sparingly and be gentle! If you're interested in getting it close to gen in terms of appearance, I recommed in addition to changing the DW, you could get yourself a dial and bezel with ridertabs. They don't come often on e-bay, but they are there.

Not a relume, but those are two different watches, and those are two different versions of the 187. The one on the left looks like the "cartel" version with the dark "1000" (incorrect). The one on the right looks like a honpo version with a bright "1000" (correct). I prefer the version on the right as the markers seem to be much thicker, the bezel pearl protrudes from the marker, but I'd take the CG from the left.

That's what my wife says whenever we are out and she is talking to me. We are nortorious for going to restaurants often and when it gets a bit warmer, we go to outdoor cafes. We love walking down the street and shop as well. Although I am very observant about my surroundings, I've seemed to lose a little touch with the outside world for now. What have I been doing? Watch spotting! And my wife hates it. And to think looking at other women was bad enough. Ever since I've gotten to the fashion of watch collection and the attention to details and tastes, I've found myself peering over to other wrists whenever I have a chance. Maybe one might call me a peeping tom, but of the other kind. I stare and I see the usual suspects: A Seiko, Citizen, a Rolex Submariner, Datejust, and maybe some Tag Heuers. Everywhere I go; whether it's to Ralph Wilson Stadium to the offices by the Financial Markets, to the French Cafe in SoHo, people wear the same kinds of watches. I have been bored. Maybe if I get lucky, I see a Panerai or Breitling. That's when my appetite is whetted and I urge to strike conversation. No; it's not flirting, but the kind of excitement that someone may (hopefully) know a thing or two about their watch and what kinds of taste(s) they have. Maybe some might see it as a "sick" interest I have, but I'm guilty of "watch spotting". I love to see a Panerai or a JLC of someonw's wrist other than mine. Then I know that there are other eccentric folks like myself. Do you do it also? And if so, does it make you disappointed when the person knows nothing about the watch on their wrist?

The little "spring" that flew off is part of the heart/cam assembly that runs the 30-minute counter. Without it, the mini-hands won't reset properly. Your seconds hand not resetting to 12 would be caused by a slipping hand. Common with plenty of A7750 movements. It is fixable, but without previous trial-and-error, you're bound to mess something else. Purchase a new movement and re-install the hands yourself if you have the confidence.

Potential Scam Over At TRC...All Forums Be Warned!
anton replied to DuDro's topic in General Discussion
Even if it doesn't turn out to be a so-called 'scam', this thread does help us determine who we should be taking our business to. These "fumbles" with tracking information, packages being delivered to the wrong address, no responses, etc. does not bode well with the seller. Sure, we all make mistakes, but it's best to deal with them in private and in a timely manner. Once it goes out in the public forum, it's PUBLIC, and they will interpret it any way they want.
