  1. The best answer you're going to get is one you don't want to hear... Bergeon Bezel Remover.... over $400, but goes a long way.
  2. Today: The prelude to the MBK that will be arriving soon... You should have seen the finishing on the watch when I received it...
  3. The inner bezel is the hardest part, IMO. The gens' inner bezel is attached to the top part of the case, not the bezel. Therefore, the crystal is also not attached to the bezel, but on the case. I can relate the inner bezel system as it is like on the IWC Aquatimer series, except the movement is controlled by the bezel, which causes a pinion to turn and rotate the inner bezel. Why do you think that "button" @ 9 o'clock is there for?
  4. Good analogy! Apologizing to go off topic again, but in response to Victoria's commnent: Imagine the horror when the wife and I went to Orlando last month and came home with Disney World souvenirs. Cost of Disney World souvenirs: $200 Overall cost to buy these souvenirs: $3,000.
  5. It's not so much the stupid and impolite PMs that bother me. It's those kinds of PMs where their question could be answered by reading the following sentence in the specific post (or posts) that gave them the inspiration to make such an insipid inquiry. True Example: Hi Where can I buy MBW? Thx My Response: Unless you're talking about a BMW (you can buy those on AutoTrader), do a search and you'll find that MBWs come in all shapes and sizes, and can be found in MBK Shopping Center. Their Response: Where is MBK? ------------------ Now not even a "Hi"? That, sir, does not even deserve a automatic reply.
  6. Very nice!!!! Now, I'm just waiting for you to sell... Just kidding! Thanks 4 the Aquatimer!
  7. RG, it looks beautiful. everytime you show the watches you mod, I always wait for the day you will sell some of these beauties. But since you probably won't, I take a page or two from the The Zigmeister 'textbook' and learn, with disastrous results. At least I'm getting a bit better now. Will you consider also getting a gen inner bezel ring?
  8. You must be talking about the Ingenieur. That model has the flaw of it being "Co." instead of "CO." All GST gens have "Co."
  9. Then the seller should have put a reserve of at least $500. Let's say it ends up selling for $499.99. Do you think the seller will say, "forget it, i can't send it out since it didn't end up selling for at least $500."?
  10. I am getting funds together to buy a kortho hotprinter (someone please chime in if this would be a bad investment)...
  11. Or what about this: Hermes Watch You could take advantage of the fact that the seller has misspelled "Hermes" so he may not receive alot of bids. Brutal, I know.
  12. Accutron PR Watch This watch uses the same movement. One day left and it's at $105.00. Go for it!
  13. Theoretically, dropping in a Swiss 7750 should work because the seconds @ 3 and big-date modifications are placed on a jeweled bridge plate that can be removed and dropped on top of the mainplate. But, some modding is necessary (or maybe not), since The Zigmeister's review of the modified A7750 says that that mainplate was slightly modified to accomodate the bridge plate.
  14. Funny! and sad at the same time... This weekend. The watch that has made me treat it like an actual 10K valued watch: You know you're crazy when you are caring for these watches better than your own gens of the same relative value.
  15. As UB7 recommended, get the Slevin on SS. The AR on that piece is four-folds better than the Slevin on Rubber and also the plus points all mentioned above. If you are in the USA, I recommend Super Mirrors, but he's a dealer on another forum. Located in the US, and if you are in the US, you'll get watch in 2-3 days or so. If you are also replacing day/date discs, make sure you also order a retaining ring as many people have said this crucial part is missing on the A7750. Without this part, you run the risk of the daywheel running out of alignment (happened to me when I made the mistake of setting the time between 8PM - 12AM).
  16. The "Genta 4" will always be classics, in my book. I guess if you're a watch manufacturer and you want iconic---you go to him. I don't seem too fond of his own personal line, though. Looks like he went "jump hour" crazy. Dluddy, the date font on the aquanut looks fantastic, did it come from the dealer like that, or did you mod it yourself? And speaking of mods, my VCO and Nautilus will be getting lume jobs and datewheel overlays printed, so I hope it goes well (I hoped to get gen dials, but seems near impossible; and someone was selling their nautilus dial for 900 EURO!)
  17. The part number is: Valjoux Cal. 7750 2556 in watchpart.co.uk. It shouldn't be that hard to find; it's one of their top 5 parts ordered on the front page. Cousins UK has them as well; and I think Jules Borel in the USA might have them as well; if you call. and FYI, There's a
  18. I think Rocket had a guy doing a dial for him; I don't know if he actually used it, but I remember he posted a thread in the forum about six months ago regarding a possible group buy of new santos dials.

    GEN or REP?

I'm just curious; the 60's Speedy that you decided to trade; was it "Pre-Moon" or "Post-Moon" model?

    GEN or REP?

If you look at the movement pic in the OP's post, you'll see (although small) that the "AI" is also cut off in that picture as well. @ asad: The speedy (and if yours is the manual-wind version) had held some type of historical value as the "original moon watch" and it's style hasn't changed for over 35 years. I would keep it if I were you, but go trade for it if the 112 speaks volumes to you. Remember, a watch is only good to you if it holds some relevant meaning other than "just another watch". The speedies have recently begun to fetch a little more than the past couple of years. I've seen the Cal. 321 versions to fetch almost double of that the Cal. 861 or 863 gets.

    GEN or REP?

It's a gen. Here are some hi-res shots of another 112 (though F-series) that will help you evaluate: PAM112
  22. For lack of a better term, this response is "spot on". There is not a part of the watch that screams "nmeeds improvement!", but possibly only the slide-rule bezel system.
  23. "Bottle effect" happens when the crystal is flat on the bottom but domed at the top. I have a gen SA and viewing the watch from the sides does NOT give a gistorted view of the rest of the dial. Perhaps because it is concave in the inside.
  24. Thanks for all your replies! Especially Victoria's, who gave a good hearty laugh (and even made me look up "snobfu1665" on TZ). The reason I started this thread is that I'm also a member on a number of Gen forums and I despise those gen owners who quickly jump the gun on flaming any and all rep owners. To top it off, I re-read an old article from another infamous Omega website that quotes: "Here's what buying and wearing fake/counterfeit watches really says about the wearer: Poor Grasp of Value - Replicas are made to sell by looking like something far more valuable than they are. They are seldom made for quality, carry no warranty, are made from cheap parts and are usually not worth repairing. They are basically overpriced disposable products, so are a poor value for your money. Lack of Integrity - Those that choose cheap replicas to try to impress others that they have a real luxury watch are using falsehoods to represent themselves. So that makes people wonder what else about how you represent yourself is false. Weak Ethics - Choosing replica watches shows the world that you are willing to support unethical and illegal businesses--not giving a care about the ethics and legalities involved if they get in the way of getting something that you want cheaply. Gullible - Especially where someone unknowingly buys a fake, they show themselves to be easily deceived and someone that throws caution to the winds trying to get a super deal on an expensive item. Isolated - Certainly there are no clubs for owners of fakes. No comraderie among fellow owners. No sharing of tips, tricks and performance issues. No assistance with operation, warranty or repair issues. Fake buyers are on their own with nobody to care, nobody to help and nobody to compliment or encourage them--except for the occasional person you might encounter that doesn't know enough about watches to realize you are trying to 'impress' them with a cheap counterfeit." I think you know what website I'm talking about. Well, as we let them continue to bash us with their nonsensical rantings about "I'd NEVER buy a fake! That would be most appalling!", let's sit back and laugh at the follies. Today, I'm preparing for another unwanted business trip:
  25. It is simply beautiful, The Zigmeister. I plan on doing the same thing to my Slevin (my lume kit just came in...), but was perplexed as to where I should apply the lume. You post answered all my questions...thanks! Tell me, what kind of tool did you use to apply the lume?
