  1. My watch looks exactly the same as #2 and the Crown is BANG in the middle between watch case and inner edge of Crown guard.

THERE IS MORE GAP THAN IT SHOULD BE, genuine PAM the gap is no more 25% whilst the Rep PAM gap is 50%, visually BIG gap!

I 'handled' 3 genuine PAM handwind including a PAM 111.

All three handwind PAMs had a SMALL gap between watch case and Crown, for all intended purposes it was 'almost 'flush.

There was NO discernible gap and I also had a go at handwinding the genuine PAM movement and it feels so smooth like turning the crown to set the time compared to ratcheting feeling when winding Asian Unitas movements. Also when the gen PAM movement is fully wound its like a fully tightened screw, IMPOSSIBLE to turn anymore you would need to to HERCULES to turn it anymore when its fully wound!

Anyway I digress and THERE WAS NO DISCERNIBLE GAP between watchcase and Crown for Genuine PAM handwind.

After studying the 3 genuine handwind PAMs I conclude for Rep PAM handwinds the the top of the tube PROTRUDES too much from watch case and the Crown does not sit enough over the top of the tube. In fact the top of the gen tube is 50% shorter and a different shape more like a hexagonal short nut if that makes sense!

Crown on rep PAM 111 NOT close to being FLUSH

Any other advice other than 'matched tube and Crown"/

It seems the problem that the Crown does not "sit enough" over the top of tube when the Crown is depressed in?

is it possible that the stem is too long or the rep tube is too long [i.e the bit that sticks out from end of watch case]

the gen PAM tube is way shorter and sticks out 50% less than the Rep tube

    Advice and comments please

    OK, I understand. Easy mod.

Grind away the tube untill you're satisfied with the spacing. Therefor you need to remove the CG, crown and movement. You can best use a dremel with a sandpaper grinding plate at a low rpm. After that you need to do the same to the 'feet' of the CG zo that the lever comes closer to the case. Than you need to reinstall the movement and shorten the stem. Voila,

Good luck and let us know how it turnd out!

  2. Make sure to line the hands up @ 12 o clock (very important). Lay the minute hand on top of the hour hand, lay down some transparent plastic kitchen foil over the hands (to avoid scratches) and gently push the hand down @12 and @6 position using tooth pics (as near to the centre as possible). You need both hand.

Easy tip if you don't have professional tools. Make sure to check the hand is parallel with the hour hand otherwise they will touch.

Good luck and let us know ho it went!

  3. The problem is not the movement but the modification to make the seconds run @12 the movement wasn't designed for that kind of strain and no service can change that. I've serviced dozens of APs and I always advice to diconnect the seconds @12 so that the reliabilty increases.

  4. So I got word back from my contact who talked to the strap factory and apparently the Panerai design made all bells go off. He told me they can make the strap in the amount we want but not at that price. The proto types I saw were smaller and as this strap was bigger with oval holes it was more expensive bla bla bla..

It all comes down that I can offer the strap but at a higher price: 120 euro including shipping worldwide. Still a very good price for a genuine alligator OEM strap.

Please let me know ASAP if that is okay by making the payment. I already send most of you a PM. Otherwise shoot me a PM and I will give you instructions.

The sooner I get the payments, the sooner I can start the order.

  5. I am nervous! :( I'm one of those people who never does anything wrong and with my luck, I'll have watch companies going after me...

Isn't there a law about BUYING replica watches?

Don't do it bro! The FBI is probably already monitoring you as the word 'replica' makes all bells go of at the Pentagon. Your computers IP adress is logged. Happened to me also the first time. Bummer!

  6. Groupbuy CLOSED!

Here's the final list. This tuesday I will go by my contact en talk through all the details. If I get a thumbs up I will contact all members through PM for a 50% down payment.

I will post all updates here. If you have any general questions you can also post them here.

Great to see this come together this fast :thumbsupsmileyanim:

  10. A big local 'watch enthusiast' and whole-saler of watch parts can get genuine alligator Panerai straps. They come from the same factory but without the Panerai stamp on the back. I've seen some specimens in small sizes (22-20) and they look perfect. They indeed are OEM or what ever it's called.

For the first run I was thinking of buying:

    *10 black/ black stitching

    *10 tabacco brown/ white-ivory stitching

All 24/22 for tang buckle, normal size 115:75. With these numbers I can offer them for 100 euros shipped world-wide.

When the demand is higher I perhaps can negotiate better prices...

This is not another BS group buy thread which can never be realized. I vouch for this guy and his straps. They are made on demand so tang, deployment, colour, stitching, sizes etc. can all be determined by us. As long as we are talking numers.

If all 'slots' are accounted for I will give the order to make them. He told me turn-around is usually around 4 weeks

    Let me know! :victory:

  11. Actually no, the movement is reliable and jewelled where needed :)

Like all Asian 7750 based watches though, a full service and regulation would be a good idea ;)

Secs@12 is nothing like the future "paperweight" secs@9, I have no idea why people think it is. I have owned quite a few of these over time, they have all worked without any problems B)

Maybe it's because I serviced dozens and I actually know what I'm talking about. All the watches that ended up on my workbench had the same problem with the second wheel @12 which grinds over the added plate because it is NOT jeweled at that crucial spot. It's a matter of time before the extra drag will cause parts to either wear out or break completely. So imo you're just lucky until now ;)

I'm working on another one right now which stopped running completely. Yup, same problem. This movement was designed for running seconds @9. The best Swiss technicians designed this movement (Valjoux 7750) and the Chinese just randomly ad stuff so it looks better in our reps. It's like letting your car drive on NOS constantly. Things will break or wear down soon as all the other parts of the car aren't calculated for that kind of wear and tear ...
