177H arriving soon; which strap/buckle best matches?
Victoria replied to erwinner's topic in The Panerai Area
I'm outtie for the day, but just to say Erwinner that that is a good choice given your profession, and is perhaps a not overly elegant choice (like the gator). One thing about Micah: he's a restauranteur in Napa Valley, whose restaurant was recently featured in US-cable channel, The Food Network. He's been swamped since then, and his strap-making (always a secondary hobby), has taken a bit of a back seat. Not sure he answers his emails for orders, as Greg Stevens does (instantaneously). Try the Risti forums (Paneristi.com) but DO NOT tell them you have reps. Just check out the Accessories corner for used or new Micahs. They have excellent prices, and bargaining is expected. Good luck! -
Start of The Week Wrist-Check (August 13-14, 2007)
Victoria replied to Victoria's topic in General Discussion
Robert, you always have the nicest or most unusual watches! I am putting you in my "Members whose taste you admire" category. @Kollektor: Thanks! Now that's a compliment, boy! I also was motivated by b16a2 to get that strap, and 005, so just further proof we inspire each other here. @Hambone: Very unusual photo, thanks for posting it for the group! I should do one with my Fiddy in Coventry, which was flattened by the Luftwaffe, when I return to London possibly this December. @TMG: Love the NASA strap! @Puggy: Wow, et tu PAM? Great V strap! I have the exact V-strap on one of my 111hs too. @Muckinho: Hey there! Glad you liked the thread. Check it out every Mon, Wed, and Friday. No one has "charge" of the post. It's whomever gets to it first, so maybe you can try your hand posting one day, yes? @Stephane below: Now that's a Stephane watch! Classic, elegant, manly. TeeJay, really, you still mean it? I will say YES! But only if you read this. *g* @Watcher in the third page: WOW! Like another member said, that gen crystal makes your PO. That's the best orange bezel version I've seen in these threads! -
I'm buying 2 PO from Andrew in about 20 min... need advice.
Victoria replied to guanaco's topic in The Omega Area
Guanaco, I don't know, since before I order anything on the site I just ask Andrew first. The member above counselled you to do so, and I would certainly concur. Andrew hasn't gotten up yet. It's 3 AM in China, and he gets up in a few hours to check emails. I can't tell you what to do, but if I were you, I'd wait to get answers before charging that card. (Add strap/box does sound just like that though) Good luck! P.S.: Good, his email is up and running again. I have to email him too! -
177H arriving soon; which strap/buckle best matches?
Victoria replied to erwinner's topic in The Panerai Area
Since I am up at this ungodly time of the night, dealing as usual with a rep related question in China, I have heard your plaintive plea, and shot a photo of my 177h still on the Micah, but with an Elliot/Timeconnection.biz custom-made gator strap over it. THE COMBINATION LOOKS AWESOME, Erwinner. Hang on, let me upload the pic. (EDIT: Here it is) Note, it was Rolli's strap first, so if you want info on ordering it, you should perhaps PM him instead. But whichever gator you go with, it's certainly elegant enough for your job. Good luck! -
Note about the Micah V Dark: opinions on it from my friends vary from "ooh, that's a nice colour!", to "wow, it's not as nice as a leather strap", the implication being that it's plastic or something. It's true that the V Dark doesn't have a rich, leather texture. In fact, it's a bit matte, TBH. The Flat Black looks similar in look and feel, don't you think? It's very different from the Copperplate (w/ white stitching) which I also have now. Didn't look the best on the 177h, so I didn't mention it. The Micah straps I fancy at the moment are the Red, Pale Rider, and especially the Gobi (the latter for the 177h specifically!). I have 5.7" wrists, and somehow, I'm crazy enough to pull a Fiddy off. I know the recent wrist-check shots make it look a bit ungainly on me, but when seen full frontal, it's gorgeous. My normal wristsize is 115/75, using the third or fourth top-most hole, but often, the second since I like it TIGHT. The Micah I have, as I said, has a "tongue" which is 150 long, and it gives one a gorgeous tail effect. Either way, you can't lose with a Micah or a Strapculture on the 177!

Guys, I waited and waited for someone to post this wrist-check so I wouldn't dominate the threads. However, after reading Flavor Flav's post, I sense some kind of ill-wind overcoming this forum of late... We need what my Cuban buddies call "un trabajito" performed to rid ourselves of this gloom & doom, pee & vinegar! :cc_surrender: So, not to make light of real concerns, but here goes the happiest thread series of them all -- THE WRIST-CHECK! MONDAY My Davidsen Fiddy arrived!!! So what did I do? Took it for a spin on my kick ass motorcycle! FxrAndy just fainted. PAV 91 LOVE BABY! Lume Shot! I was too excited to wait for it to lume properly. This was only after a few minutes in the sun. TUESDAY What are the chances I'll take off the Fiddy from my wrist all this week? Slim to none, and none just got served. BUT if I do, I'll be rocking my PAM 113 on Bob Vanilla strap. THANK YOU for the strap tip, b16a2! Rolling with my Pannies! @Cableguy: Aww, that's a great shot! It's a Stephane hommage, with a Droste effect, and a lot of Cableguy Yachtie moxie thrown in!
-
First, CONGRATS, hugs! Second, wow that Vaclume is fantastic. I've also been noticing that a lot of people are plumping down for the 177h of late, like erwinner, slai, me, phoband, and others. If you're stuck for strap suggestions, here is a great recent thread on it. http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?s=&...st&p=297717

Hehe. Maybe not next time. But hey, also I'm thinking, I'm super proud of what I did. That's hours late at night dealing with a myriad of Chinese vendors, trying to get just the right watches, etc. I've packed a year's worth of experience in 1 month! And anything I learn, I share with newbies! HAH. That's so true, MK08. But as Kruzer00 guessed already, I've already made discrete enquiries into buying a gen Panerai. I'm thinking the base 112. But don't worry. RWG.CC is my "home". I'll not ever leave you for the oft-snobbish gen forums.

Love the Shoutbox, Admin. Whatever happened to that new feature I noticed in the new system? When you posted a thread, you as thread starter (only) got to see who had read it. Or was that too Big Brotherish for you to let it remain? FOLLOWUP: Gotcha, Admin! Good to know.

Thanks! You saved me a PM. I got this for the Radiomir: Legend Special Brown w/ Beige Stitch (SCLG - R972), but I confess, it's lighter than I anticipated. Still love it, and will just have to wait until it gets a patina, is all. @Slay: Have you ANYTHING positive to say? Just wonderin'. (Update: Sure it does. Like telling a woman, "just don't like what you're wearing". Every woman would think, wow! He must love everything else about me!).
-
YAAAARRRR! Whew, I feel like Keira Knightley, only with more meat on me bones. P.S.: I got the same little pouch, and card pictured in the Wrist-Check thread. Love it. They have a return customer in me for SURE, and your second strap, Slai, will be the one I choose.
-
Thanks, Chris! Any story you'd like to share, we'd love to hear! Of course, some stories have already been told, so if there's a thread you'd like to link to, Chris, that's grand. Popped to the supermarket wearing it just now, wow! The looks I got were fantastic. I notice the lume is not as strong as the light sabre effect I was expecting, though. But it is 6:44PM where I am, so... UPDATE: Whoa! I just turned on television to cable channel, CourTV. There's a series on about female Miami bounty hunters, and one of the gals (Gloria) was wearing a PAM 113 on light pink strap! I am almost sure it's a PAM 113, because of the CG. I like that strap, too...oh boy.
-
LOL! Funny you should say that, Phoband, as I collect stuff with cows on them (mugs, pens, mousepads, etc.). But I think someone took you at your word!

A NATO (usually striped) or Military strap. There is a lady *bay merchant some guys use here, whom I've been told is excellent, but I use the chap Chubbchubb referred me to, also on the *bay, "watchesu571". He's exceptionally fast from HK. This is a great (recent) reference post on them: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showto...amp;hl=military

First, thanks to Davidsen for my ultimate Fiddy, woo! I am SO HAPPY, I cannot begin to describe how much. Some pics as I unwrap it (literally just picked this package up, seconds ago): Thoughts: Wow, I've received more bubble-wrap around one measely STRAP than Davidsen's staff sent for this precious $420 Fiddy...thank God his crystal is real sapphire. Like the two "rep" straps, in brown and tan, and already see myself taking those logo buckles unto my more pricier aftermarket straps. I find myself unable to open the package! I am just looking at the Fiddy, lovingly, at the moment, drinking in the moment. Usually I just rip open the plastic, but this time, because I know I won't be buying any more PAMs any time soon, I am taking my time, like a Chateau Latour at its peak. One thing though. Bought a smashing strap in anticipation already. Stay tuned for tomorrow's wrist-check! UPDATE: RECEIVED the StrapCulture strap for the Radiomir in another package! YARR mateys! What an awesome day...I must celebrate this tiny but lovely bounty from heaven.

Gosh, I don't think so. Never saw it at silix-prime, or at his cheapie site, watchsilix.com. Heard that Trevor's Store offered such items, but I am not a fan.
-
She's so sweet, Rima! Unfortunately, don't hate me, but I can't stand cats personally (being a Leo doesn't help...). I am a dog person, par excellence! But hey, you love what you love, and that's wonderful. Oh, and no Mac for me. Dude, you're getting a Dell (WinXP not Vista yet).

177H arriving soon; which strap/buckle best matches?
Victoria replied to erwinner's topic in The Panerai Area
Fitipaldi, you could await a PM or you could google Strapculture. I believe they are based out of the Far East (Singapore? Hong Kong? Not sure, but the guy from whom you order is very nice in emails). -
THIS COMING FROM YOU, LANIKAI??? Dude, I have a pink cover on my phone, a pink Motorola bluetooth earthingie, and a pink laptop cover! Oh, and these pink Chucks. P.S.: Got my LV natural cherry from Pawmaker, which counts as pink. And also my Bob Vanilla which looks to-die-for with my 113. So there!

177H arriving soon; which strap/buckle best matches?
Victoria replied to erwinner's topic in The Panerai Area
Yay! I'm the benchmark for strap excess now. Okay, just for you erwinner, I went out and took a photo of my 177h on new Micah strap. Micah is on Paneristi, and his website was referenced by me last night on the Wrist-Check thread. I also have my 177h on Senape shown on that thread, reproduced here just for you. First, Micah's website (DO NOT MENTION YOU HAVE A REP. Some strapmakers do care...): http://www.vintagerstraps.com/ Secondly, here are the wristies: This is Micah's VDark strap, which is so brown, it's black, and goes remarkably well with both colours of clothes. The white stitching also gives the Titanium some "bite", which I notice it sometimes lacks when compared to the SS of the regular PAMs. Note, I wanted the strap to have a bit of "tail" so this is the 150/80 size. Here is a close-up of the polished buckle: Yes, it would've been nice to get a brushed buckle to go with the Ti, but I personally prefer polished as a rule. Here's the 177h with Senape in a clever shot, inside a rock: The 177h is an EXCELLENT Panerai watch, versatile, and good-looking. But Titanium gets scratched up a lot. I'm thinking of getting one of those Titanium scratch removal pens one sees on the *bay. Opinions? @Slai, below: Love Strapculture straps. Waiting to get my own soon for the Radiomir. I chose a beautiful Legend burnt umber colour. Loved both your straps, but the second is more "Strapculturish". -
You're going to get me into trouble with Rolli, babola! This isn't a competition. It's a bazaar of crazy strap addiction.
-
I'll take it! Because this is the alternative slur. P.S.: This thread is being hijacked by...ME! Noooooo. This isn't about me. Where's that nice Rolli to show his massive collection of straps, which puts mine under the shade?
-
756! Nope. That photo was last Sunday. Since then I've received at least 20-30 more! Nope. Bought 11 PAMs in exactly one month, sent one Fiddy back with broken sapphire crystal, bought a DSN Fiddy, and 3 Andrew PAMs not shown in this photo, which I have gotten this past week. That's 15 PAMs. And maybe 20 other reps, my mother included in this stat. Don't worry. It'll last us for years, so it's not a pace we're continuing or anything! 15 PAMS in 1 month and 5 days, exactly. Nope, isn't into watches. He's into soccer, movies, and me. Bacione, caro!
-
Yeah, I know! I saw a photo of a real Paneristi's strap collection once, and it was extraordinary. It lined every inch of space on his wall, like touche-touche paintings. Ahh. In the "A Warning if You Like to go Shooting" thread earlier this month, I posted that I wanted to go to the pistol range soon -- but which watch to use? As you can see, I wore my Hublot Big Bang with my AK-47.

Need Opinions for Cartier Santos 100 & Pasha
Victoria replied to alant's topic in General Discussion
Two gens: I have this Santos 100 and my mother has this Seatimer Pasha. Unfortunately, so does her hairdresser (a man), so she rarely wears it since some watches can be "ruined" for one, if you see it on the hand of someone else. (He apparently competes with her a bit, and always shows her his custom-made, Parisian-bought straps for the Pasha, some being exotic snakeskin and crocs. So she countered the other day with her gold Cartier Tankissime, a rep she bought from Josh. He glowered at her, sulking because he can't compete with that, heh) As for my Santos, I wore it for a whole year after I got it in the early 2000s, but honestly, now it seems rather blah comparatively. I agree that the chronos version would probably give it more oomph, but honestly, I think it looks dead fussy, which is the opposite of elegance. My 2p for you.
