I believe that they are not the same person. If that were the case, that would be very bad for all concerned. I personally would not like that in the least...and it could wreck a very nice relationship, because I've asked a similar question (not about Joshua) and was assured it wasn't the case. But when you are partners with a good friend, there are often shared accounts, and the procedures are almost identical because of a possible mentor-pupil relationship has made it so (you learn and adopt the same practises). Certainly both websites are identical in feel and tone. And what though? Maybe they paid the same webmaster. (Not saying anything to you, Pix, just in general!) Having dealt with Andrew exclusively, I can say that what he does is mind-boggling for one man. But if I were to be told he does the work of two men, all on his own, wow, that's beyond belief, full stop.

Noticed. Being an ex-English instructor, I also teased Andrew that he and Joshua have similar syntax in English. Now, I wasn't implying anything, since I've read Josh's emails to my mum, and the manner is completely different (Joshua, business-like; Andrew, affable) and not saying they are emanating from the same being, but these guys must be very close buddies. Perhaps childhood friends. Hence, it's not surprising this TT88, PC88.

First, I am not experienced enough to give you feedback on this, but I wish you luck. Also, this situation reminds me of why I would sell straps in a heartbeat, but never a watch... Secondly, have you noticed that Eddie Lee watches are always on sale in the Member Trade sections of the forums? Always. Rarely do you come across a DSN. Reminds me of what my mum says, that BMWs one can find in AutoTraders by the dozen. But Mercedeses not nearly as many. There's a reason for that, my friends.

My collection so far, reps and gens, madness!
Victoria replied to TomRiddle's topic in My Collection
RRRRR! Please allow me to link to it, after having Googled: http://www.sleeptracker.com/ FASCINATING. Since starting my rep watch career, you have noticed I'm up at all hours, trying to contact this or that Chinese collector during their working hours. Well, it has wrecked havoc on my body, people. 11 packages don't just materialise out of thin air. You have to work at it. So this is a perfect watch. AND...check out the video on the link which shows Dr. Phil (whose programme I have never watched) giving a Sleeptracker watch to a woman who has infinite trouble waking up in the mornings. Breitling Evo? Just wondering what watch the good quack is wearing. LOVELY collection, Tom. Thanks for posting it here as well as RWI. My fave is still the HBB for the reason you mentioned, and may I purr yet again, RRRRRRR. -
THANKS! I needed to have just such a sensible reply for these activities. I don't much like Casio...and they look very masculine in general...but I'll give it a go because *looks around* I feel naked without a watch on my wrist. Again, letter perfect reply given my original question, and to boot, from a fellow Floridian who realises the impact of our weather, not only to ourselves, but to our goodies. My boyfriend is always asking why I have flat tyres all the time, when in 15 years of driving, he doesn't remember having a flat once up in Canada. I said, Florida baby. The heat wears those suckers down. It could well be advertising-only, but in the TAG HEUER Youtube advert I saw, he was taking a swing in a bunker wearing his namesake watch. One chap over at RWI said the first time he wore his rep version, he shot under 90 for the first time in his life. It's got Tiger Magic! @Docblackrock: LOL. Best "reply" using emoticons ever.

Are you kidding me! This is gorgeous, CBR. Looks way better with the gen strap and deployant (which you also get when you buy this rare watch). Nice deal. I had seen Denise selling it, and you got it at an awesome price! Hmm, no edition numbers? I'm sure that's not the term for it, but you know E0017/1950, etc.

Well, what do you know! It's Clive from the other RWG, replying to a newbie about which PAM he should get, unlike the help I asked for and didn't get from the mighty Clive. Well, how do you like me now, beeatch?! http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=42508&st=0 Yes, nothing like a fellow Brit going above and beyond for another. I will now sing a Vera Lynn medley in your honour.

Dazzling watch/strap combo. I am REALLY impressed. The Corum looks awesome. Next to the Bob Vanilla and 005 combo, this is my new favourite combination on RWG!
-
EEK! So it does...ah well. Confirmed. BOTH! Me want! :sorcerer: *jumps up and down on V's lap like a little girl*
-
Andrew McCarthy man...yum! My childhood dreamboat. Yeah, but, TeeJay, remember I'm a tease.
-
I can't and wouldn't tell you what to feel about this issue, TeeJay. But just to say that the moneys you donated mean SO MUCH more than just this one issue, to the welfare of this place. I know from having spoken to you, that you have a shall we say, distaste for the collector cartel, but so long as Andrew isn't actually posting his wares on this thread, IMHO, it was a legitimate and important update for his clients. I certainly would've been lost, if I hadn't been in his mailing list already. Now, absolutely you would be correct if he said, "Roll up roll up, here's my new Aquaracer". Admin, would you be so kind, when you can spare a moment, to upgrade TeeJay? I have already paid an extra little bit on behalf of his lovely guinea pig, Patches, if you recall. Fair's fair.

GASP. Blasphemer. TBC is the single-best teen movie EVER. And much more relevant than that stupid Rebel Without a Cause. I was kidding! Well, my dad could indeed use that watch, but he's got 3 rep VCs already...my mother would groan if she saw even the otherwise beautiful Overseas. Who knows though. We'll keep in touch, I'm sure.
-
Sound proposition. By the way, thanks to Admin for the avatar re-revamp!! Looks more like the old RWG.CC now.
-
Of ALL the changes, this is my least favourite upgrade. I also liked the vertical avatar-info. Same here. I also miss the "View New Posts" with the number next to them. Early days. If only I could get my old blue skin back, I would feel so happy, but then as I said, I don't do change well in general.

I thought so, V. They came with the little "Made in Austria" package and everything, and look very nice, smell of leather, and have the correct markings, I admit. But something told me they weren't OEMs. But I paid a fraction of the OEM cost... I will amend the post with inverted commas for "OEM". P.S.: Somewhere, maybe in Don, or Dirk's Photobucket site, I've seen the waffle offered. And on ViaPaneristi, they have one photograph in the "World of Straps" section, which shows it. So I said, hey, why not. P.P.S.: The only one I am missing, of the big strapmakers, unless you count Hirsch and Camille Fournet, et al., is the XaMas model. I remember your own hommage to the XaMas, and if you ever get a spare moment from your house-building, I'm in for one!

I stopped watching after S2, when Pussy was killed. On another note, member VDBroucke informs me that I goofed. The watch forum in German was a gen watch forum, similar to Risti. Trust the Germans to be so anal.
-
Those who know you, Miss Understood, knew it was a blackguard lie to end all lies. Personally, I would sue. Ahh, say no more. He floats your milk-float. Sounds fishy to me.
-
Thanks, Rima! And may I just say that YOU and Maciek's girlfriend were the single reason I decided to try out my first PAM. That's it. Both your photo series. If not for your photos, I would still be emailing Paul about "Where is my Calatrava, beeatch!". I owe you, big time. P.S.: Haha, Cornerstone. It so happens my bf is a very confident man. He doesn't need a big ole Fiddy to compensate for certain, ahem, shortcomings that certain, ahem, men have here, okay! Anyway, everyone knows the mama rules the roost in Italian households. I'm set for life. @swidad: It gets worse???? Dear Baby Jesus on Swiss Cheese!

WAFFLES! What happened?? I thought you were going to cancel your order with Joshua, and flee the country before the Feds got unto you?! Obviously, just yankin' your Waffle-chain. I'm glad your Noobmariner deal went through, and all is well. Just let me say, I was you exactly one month ago. And look at me now! So, as a person who JUST started her PAM career, I would say pay CLOSE attention to the suggestions of the Panerai veterans here, who will give you excellent advice. I went for a Fantasy Mini-Fiddy for my very first PAM, and it so happens it's been my most problematic, least-liked PAM ever. I hate "fantasy" watches with a passion, not because I want to pass off my watches as gens (although, let's be honest, a little part of one wouldn't like to be called out as wearing a rep, either), but because they're usually badly-made. I also suspect that the Chinese rep dealers had a bad batch project they were working on, and decided to create FrankenPAMs out of the spare parts. Whatever reason, I would suggest: 1- NO Fantasy Panerais 2- NO super cheapo movements (AJ21s) 3- Stay away from Asian Automatics, and go for the Handwind variety 4- Know the first rule a PAM rep owner learns, "The Rep strap is crap" so figure into your $200 at least a NICE $60 strap. Trust me, if you see the rep strap you will die laughing, and people will laugh at you. 5- Followup of #4: There are three custom-makers of straps on these boards, V from here but who is busy at the moment. Plus Tootall and Savage over at RWI. They can make you BEAUTIFUL straps in all shades for under $100, but are frequently busy. Email them. 6- People told me to go for the rite-of-passage 111h first, and did I listen? No. But my second PAM was the 111h and I simply adore it. So much so, I ordered another, on its way as we speak, from Andrew. The one I ordered (x2): http://www.ttwristwatch.com/index.php?main...;products_id=94 ($158, not including S/H) 7- A member counselled to go for the 112 first. I suspect that's because it's the base, and less repped than the 111h. Sounds good to me, though as I said, I love the 111 model. 8- The Asian Unitas are very good movements, and don't feel badly if you can't immediately get a Swiss ETA (x2 the cost). However, should you get a windfall in the next few weeks, try for a DAVIDSEN model, especially the Fiddy, an enormous but utterly sexy Panerai which all sentient beings should own. Not that I'm biased or anything. 9- Figure into your later budget the modding your PAM WILL need, like cannon pin fix, lume job, swan neck, etc. There are great modders here, like Vacuum, The Zigmeisterzumba, Flavor Flav, and others. Check them out. 10- STAY AWAY FROM THE LOW-END DEALERS. PM me in case you need info. I don't want to malign anyone's reputation, but really, you're best off buying from certain dealers only. 10a- If this and other rep watch forums are of help to you, please consider upgrading your account to the VIP level. It really helps this community provide you with all these pieces of advice, which normally would take you months and lots of heartache to do on your own. Good luck! Remember what I said in that thread of my collection: Owning a Panerai is like... ...eating M&Ms. ...munching Fritos ...snacking on peanuts ...owning Jimmy Choos You CANNOT have just one.
-
I see the rumours of your untimely passing were greatly exaggerated, Miss Understood. And let me just say, "I hear ya, girlfriend". I prefer the milkman too.
-
Ahh, actually that's not correct, and I'm sure I don't need to reveal why (you can PM me to find out, if you really want to know!). Hint, Manuel: It's way down deep in the pile. And has nothing to do with our hobby, unless they went from selling Joan Rivers products to PAM watches.
-
Ooh, lots of contradictions covered here, Corgi. A prudish environmentalist who likes change but hates being harangued with advertisement. Dr. Freud would've had a field day with you! For the record, green is not my favourite colour. I much prefer blue. Or purple, the colour of royalty and hangovers.
-
LOL! Must've been composing my post as you posted this, Andrew. Mods, if you like please delete my thread. UPDATE: Thanks for taking care of the dupe thread! But I'm still curious what watches our collectors wear, themselves! Imagine having all those watches at one's disposal.
-
Aww, thanks, X! I am very gratified as to the replies, and what they said. I know it takes A LOT to impress members of this high-calibre board so I am doubly honoured. By the way, Fitmic, as mentioned in one of my 600+ posts , my boyfriend is not into watches at all. I will try to change that in time. (Off for the night. See you guys tomorrow!)

That's my middle name! Thanks, Maikel. I figure that buying 15 reps and 50 straps is better than buying 1 gen, and having money left over for MAYBE 5 straps. Though I am cash-strapped (groan) at the moment, at least I have loads of goodies to look at it for years to come.
