  1. WOW! StrapCulture straps are incredible...splendid choice, Verbal! I heard you get a little leather pouch with each strap too. (Too bad the Rad Historic Legend I ordered for my Radiomirs is taking so long to come) @X: Just saw your compliment to my hands. THANK YOU! Enjoy choosing amongst your Aladin's Cave of watches. @Stephane: YOU HAVE A PANERAI?? And a Fiddy to boot! Don't know why I didn't think you'd be the type to like that. @Scoobs: Lorenz, very unusual. You have a fine eye for quality I've been noticing in the Wristies. @Chubbchubb: I am not much for the SS bracelet on PAMs, but yours is beginning to change my mind. Lovely 111!
  2. Had been looking for this since your post, Carlsbadrolex. Not cheap $299, but at least available in case someone is not near a PAM AD. hxxp://www.network54.com/Forum/353393/thread/1186718137/last-1186718137/FS-+Fit+an+OEM+Panerai+bracelet+to+any+44mm+Panerai+or+1000m+Sub+-+Micro+Adapter%99+%24299 (Please change the hxxp to http...I know a window opens up reducing the risk of trackbacks to this site, but I am always very extra careful with Risti)
  3. It never ceases to amaze me how men think that women have the same security issues as they do. That because they can defend themselves against a thief, or feel relatively safe walking at night or in a dark Tube station, that we would too. Slay, for all I know, I wouldn't feel safe doing so in your small town either.
  4. The French do not understand "dress down". They had to be begged by Frank LeBoeuf to come to the Stade de France in WC 1998, to come dressed in t-shirts, not Dior jackets and Herm
  5. FRIDAY How about a little Droste effect to start us off? Mmm, so close Predfan2001, so close. That's right -- it's my new Andrew PAM 177h whose Ti case really goes well with the Senape strap, don't you think? Makes it look like a rattlesnake hiding in the bushes! SATURDAY I bought the AP T3 for my boyfriend, but I'm wearing it until he gets it. Member trade section rules! Thanks, Gareth, again. SUNDAY Sunday I'm hitting the beach, and then cooling off with my Navigater Planet Ocean under the shower! @Xim: AWESOME, X, what a great followup! @Evildee: I thought Tom's HBB was da schizzle, but yours is da massive! And that's the first time I think I've ever used those phrases.
  6. "Passing the buck". *g* Now who needs a translation?? EDIT UPDATE: Lanikai! Come on, remember Harry Truman's Passing the buck phrase? Fobbing off means something similar, in that he's POSSIBLY trying to tell me there are no more destros because he doesn't have them, suggesting that it's not his fault, but the other guy's fault. That's what fobbing off means (more or less, lol!).
  7. Check the most applicable, given the data above: Amused [ ] Incredulous [ ] Annoyed [ ] Aroused [ ] Jury's Out [ ] Mmm, Panerai [ ]
  8. I hit it going fast, age 12. You know the French. If you have some talent, any talent -- you can juggle, declaim Homer in Erasmian-accented Greek, show them how to make dreadlocks, or simply have an Audrey Hepburn pout drinking absinthe in a corner -- you're in. If she liked Allen Ginzberg, and his ilk, so much the better. But I personally saw her turn away Coconut Grove marina hippies when they came a-callin', and I'm sure their yachts were worth a fortune.
  9. I'm scared to ruin my leather straps with sweat, and I'd shoot myself if I injured even the crappiest Paul PAM. So I stick to the Nike Triax series when working out. Depending on my jogging/workout outfits, either the Nike Triax Swift (via Amazon): Or the Nike Triax Fly Ladies (via *bay): Both under U$100.
  10. I could swing $400, so count me in at that price.
  11. Wow, thanks, V! I love learning new stuff, and this is definitely a must for a Paneristi. Anyone know how the Slytech presentation box looked like? I'm guessing Panerai did something special, but not sure. @V: I was going to PM you, then thought the last thing you want to do is read your Inbox...but HAVE A GREAT HOL!
  12. Plebian!? Why I bet you many Rockefellers use the MTA card too. Seriously, in a metropolis, public transport is the only way to go. In NYC: I wouldn't wear jewelry and gold(-tone) watches on the street, let alone subway. In Rio: I wouldn't wear ANYTHING except plastic and Swatches, bought from camel
  13. Hehe. Yes, I think the 217h was not in question. I had asked this collector about the PAM 115, which I would love to have. He said, don't have. Then I inquired about other destro models (not the 217h at the time), and that's when he revealed what I wrote above. Could it be he was fobbing me off, to save explanations?
  14. Hence what I wrote, "a distant memory". By the way, disco was really the brain-child of the nightclub scene in the mid 1950s, later famous courtesy of Monaco's Jimmy'z by Regine -- as people can tell by the French term, discoth
  15. Wow! I didn't think anyone read those consumer reports. I have no idea, but it seems that the US car industry got a competitive jolt in the '80s from Japanese auto makers, and it's the best thing that could've happened to them. Tangentially, just yesterday my boyfriend was reading me (quite for quirky purposes) the top ten laundry detergents, according to Consumer Reports. I happen to use, by accident, the one rated number 1. Tide with Bleach Alternative.
  16. Grazie tant, carissimo! They say women have a civilising effect on males. Perhaps. RWI is still a zoo though.
  17. Heh. Great followup SS bracelet shots, Subzero1. And glad you "see" what I am saying. Also, Slay, I bought an "LV cherry" (very very light pink, practically white) strap from Paw Marker, which I am yet to receive. I noticed Taikonaut has a pure white one with yellow stitching too. (Strapcode.com -- anyone here ever order from them?) We'll see... P.S.: Rolli, just clicked on your shark. That looks great! I would buy one...
  18. I believe X is our most famous Bell & Ross PVD go-to-guy. He has some beautiful, innovative B&R wrist-checks. Perhaps he'll post them here.
  19. SEE! Guys look. You're posting mainly variations of reddish-coloured straps, and black ones! That's what I mean. V, I will note your suggestion about the MP distressed though. I have a brown distressed Toscana which I haven't worn, because it didn't go well with my black-faced ones. I do have to say that the SS bracelet looked much better on the white-dial than the black-faced PAMs though, Subzero1. Recently, Tootall on RWI posted a pic of a strap he had made which honoured his backwoods Florida boy roots -- it was rattle-snake! I thought to myself, now THAT would go beautifully with the white-dial PAMs. And why? Because it would give it OOMPH. That's what I feel the white-dials lack. OOMPH. They're gorgeous, but lack OOMPH. This message was brought to you by the Society for the Appreciation and Preservation of OOMPH (Miami Beach Chapter).
  20. You've obviously never been to Scotland, Stephane! Hey Euno, thanks for making a wonderful return to the Wristies. And guys, come on now! This is a great thread idea, and used to have pages full of wrist-checks. We have only 2!! Even Repgeeks has double that! Here is motivation for you, in honour of Puggy's beach shot, here is one of me in my new bikini!
  21. Ooh, gosh. I could do maybe half of that, so to quote Sam Goldwyn, include me out.
  22. If it's the same reliable source, I had that exact info too. My source also said they're not making destro models anymore, since the guy supplying the cases and movements quit (!?). However, Davidsen still has these all available...no? P.S.: Yay for SSsurfer! 'Bout time is right!
  23. PRECISELY! You went for the exact same colour "look" as I did, Carlsbadrolex, although my strap isn't nearly as gorgeous as yours, of course. I have found that deep russett is the best colour for the white-faced PAM. - I put on my Crazy Horse with black stitch. Eh. - The Anacardo. So-so. - The black cordovan/black stitches Manuffature Firenze, meh. Just the OF Mario Paci cognac strap above made the white-dial stand out beautifully. I bought a blue gator strap on RWI -- I'm hoping that might be interesting for the PAM 113. Still like the watch, a lot. But I am not pleased by its lack of versatility in strap changes...
  24. This is a call-out to any PAM 113 (or white-dial PAM) owner to show his or her strap to go with this white-faced beauty. Puhlease! So far, however, I've found that my black-faced PAM watches are more versatile for strap choice colours. Or is it me? And my lack of deep summer tan...
