Aye. Here you go, FxrAndy! MUCH more than you expected perhaps. But you know me, I go that extra mile each time. Pierce Brosnan at "The Matador" premiere, with Greg Kinnear. Oh dear, he's "That Guy", isn't he? Like the Shah of Iran, showing off his watch, as per my recent thread on that. Some men shouldn't wear beards. He looks like Billy Connolly...and look at the Nixon watch worn by the autograph hunter chick. Pierce Brosnan wearing his JLC Reverso, which I believe was the watch he wore in The Admin Crown Affair. Pierce with Michael "Feet of Flames" Flatley at the Spirit of Ireland Awards. From the photos, I thought he had those two watches. But I do believe this is an Ingy? And finally, this is the Pierce Brosnan I know and loved as 007 (at the Cartier in Windsor). My word, Irish guys are sooo handsome. ...even if they are a bit of a show off.

They tried to, and no one showed up (this was before my time as a registered member). Go for it! I would demur though.

In the UK, one usually wears a morning coat/cutaway not a dinner jacket/tuxedo since it's not de rigueur to wear a tux before 6 PM. If indeed it is a tux for the wedding, then Desuetude is more than ever correct. Never never anything but a watch on a strap. No Breits, Rolexes, APs. So far, Section8 has hit the nail on the head. EDIT: Some new suggestions given this info. Don't worry about strap colours. Collectors usually will change that, on request.

LOL!! That should be someone's .sig.

Nice! Thank you for this correction. I will research it a little more. Well naturally. There is an agenda in place to suggest that the US is going the way of all "empires", and its end is near. One such criteria is being a dissolute society. I have a theory about Gen X'ers (if you are one, as I am, even if I'm a late version). We don't marry until later because we are deathly afraid of divorce. Not just the failure that implies, and the legal hassle, but the loss of companionship which other generations had until their death. At least, this is why I haven't married yet. God knows I've been asked enough, but I was always scared...no one on either side of my family, Protestant and Catholic, has EVER been divorced. -
Nice SFSO, DET11! Yes, do this -- [ img ] [/ img] without the spaces. OR, do you see on the list of HTML buttons, just on top of your post? There's a smilie, a plus sign, THEN the image button. Highlight your Image Shack url, then hit that button. There's a popup window, so just click OK. Wallah! It'll be embedded unto the page.

LOL! If it had been Canada, he'd be a goner. Welcome back, Kru! God bless America indeed. Portuguese customs suck.

Thanks, Raymond! I love all kinds of animals. Strangely, that same Monday the native bird of Florida called an Ibis landed on my car. Before I could take a photo through the moonroof, it hopped unto another car! The Ibis is the first bird to fly away when a hurricane is coming, and is the first to return. The local indians, the Miccosukee, used that as their early warning for hundreds of years. It's also the mascot of the University of Miami. So, of course, Wristcheck near the Ibis!

I'm on record as saying you have one of the best collections on RWG, Robert, so obviously any blurriness has never impaired my opinion. The perfect Turkey Day Watch!! Classy all the way. Should be a conversation starter with your Uncle Rufus, whom you haven't seen since you were a nipper.

Brilliant! Thanks so much, Hambone. Will have to buy the mag this week, as I fancy that's the not the complete article on the link.

Yes, TD. Unfortunately, Jay has been having some problems of late, and there are several threads already on the topic. Someone said he had gmail problems, but I have to tell you that Jay is a slow emailer at the best of times. 1-2 days is a good timeline for him. Please read the other threads, and since I will email him soon, I can add your name to the queue, if you want. @TD: With pleasure, I'll use "Tigerdaytona" as the reference, then, shall I?

WEDNESDAY Going casual today with my DSN PAM 112 on an OEM Rubber Diver's strap/buckle. Though overcast, you can see one of the most famous places in Miami -- Dinner Key Marina. That's where PAN AM jets used to have their hub, in the early days of aviation. The exact place where I am standing to shoot these pics, is where Lindbergh, Rickenbacker, Mitchell and others landed. Fortunately, duck

EGGZAKLY. Single-best thing about being in a rep watch forum -- the utter diversity of the eyecandy. (Yes, I know a lot of people will disagree, because it's PAM this, Rolex that, but individually we have a varied collection which unless we were millionaires to a man and woman, we couldn't have if they were gens)

You got me good there, Maxmilian. Agreed.

Love it, Scoobs! BTW, did you or anyone here ever watch "The Last Days of Disco"? Typical Whit Stillman effort centering around the preppies of the late 1970s. In one scene, the characters are all talking at Studio 54 (!) about Lady and the Tramp (!), the famous Disney cartoon. This is my absolute favourite scene in the movie. One of the guys analyses why girls tend to like jerks when they start to date: "There is something depressing about it and it's not really about dogs. Except for some superficial bow-wow stuff at the start, the dogs all represent human types which is where it gets into real trouble. Lady, the ostensible protagonist, is a fluffy blond cocker spaniel with absolutely nothing on the brain. She's great looking but, let's be honest, incredibly insipid. Tramp, the love interest is a smarmy braggart of the most obnoxious kind, an oily jail bird out for a piece of tail or whatever he can get. He's a self confessed chicken thief; an all around sleaze ball. What's the function of a film of this kind? Essentially it's a primer about love and marriage directed at very young people, imprinting on their little psyches that smooth talking delinquents recently escaped from the local pound are a good match for nice girls in sheltered homes. When in ten years the icky human version of Tramp shows up around the house their hormones will be racing and no one will understand why. Films like this program women to adore jerks." -

Heh. Unfortunately, men read that and think of the famous "But she's got a great personality" slur, usually meaning she's not pretty. And men like pretty girls above all else, right? It's their number one criteria in dating, if perhaps not marrying. -

Loved the quote about reaching over to unlock the door. I just have to say, whenever I read "our generation" "kids today" types of quotes, I am both amused and sad. It's true, but you know, EVERY generation says that about the succeeding ones. Herodotus said that about young Greeks, Pliny said that about young Romans, and so and so and so on. It's not that it's not true. Clearly after the Counter-Culture of the 1960s, courtesy norms are not the same. But it's not as bad as all that. Yes, the divorce rate is up, but that's because there is greater freedom than before to choose how your life partner (and BTW, it's up in the West, but mostly in North America. Americans always had the "fame" in the UK for being many times divorced. I need not mention Mrs. Simpson...). Yet there are still ladies and gentlemen out there, and they are not scarce. It just depends on what you are looking for. Back when I used to date, I always found gentlemen. But that's because I like men like that. If a man likes a bad girl, the mot du jour in this thread, then don't be surprised if they're not ladies. I suppose when men date they are looking for something sexual or the prettiest girl they can find. That was never my criteria with men. It was intelligence, character, family, and worldliness. Then looks. Not too many "bad boys" fit those categories. -
Just about to suggest that too, Corgi! hxxp://phoenixlabs.org/pg2/ My boyfriend is extremely savvy in terms of internet downloads and taught me the barebones last year. Utorrent, Peerguardian, and TorrentFinder extension installed on the browser (Firefox). I used to download British telly programmes frequently, but it's been about a year now that I did so (recently UB7 told me of a Top Gear episode which I would love to see, since it mentions PAMs!). Since I started reviewing films, I receive free screener copies here and there, so it was no longer necessary. EDIT: As I was composing this, he called, and I told him what I was about to write. He suggested to download Dark Side of The Moon in quadraphonic sound. It's about 3 gigs. ...heh, didn't know he liked Pink Floyd. I am no expert in this, but apparently, one can download virii, but only if you click on a media viewer they ask you to download to watch their particular .rar'ed files. Also, I heard to stay away from "Denis Stalker" trackers, easily visible in Piratebay.org (the best place to find torrents, I thought, a year ago). So, to recap, you are VERY safe not to get a virus embedded in a torrented file, but be careful not to click on links to download viewers. Also, "Force Re-check" if you get a .rar corrupt file notice. You have to re-download the missing parts, usually a few kbs worth. Then "Extract Here" using WinRar, and you'll get the .avi or similar to view. I used Videolan's "VLC" player back in the day. It played literally everything you could throw at it. And to burn it, either NERO or ConvertXtoDVD. Please check with others, just in case any of this is outdated though, Steelerfan!

I enjoyed Transporters for the great watch sightings. So far, though, we've spoken of subdials and chronos, etc. How about the printing? That can really clutter up a lot of the watches. OTOH, I love me some Pateks, but this is just TOO plain.
-
I'll never doubt you again, b16a2! Sometimes, you really DO have to see a watch in person. This Breitling for Bentley is gorgeous, even if it's as busy as all get out. Wow! ...yes, I took a wristcheck shot. But oh dear. I look like a prison warden. No can post I'm afraid. It could come back to haunt me.
-
I already had a PM about this! I will definitely shoot the pics in a sec, guys. It's me mum's birthday, so I'm getting ready for a quick celebration. When I return, pics. It's the brown-dial Breitling for Bentley. Maybe it's a cheapie, maybe those of you with Breitlings would laugh, but WOW, this marque is macho, testosterone-filled sexiness! Let's club together and buy Redroom one to wear for his bad girl bird!
-
Thanks, Rima. Nice to see you on today. Happy Thanksigiving to you, your girlfriend and families! I demurred in buying the MM, because as you well pointed out once regarding another watch, it's too big for my wrists. Also, I heard that rotor sounds like an old Gypsy Moth aeroplane kicking in. It's a nice watch though, overall. Rima, guys, you won't believe this, but I JUST THIS MOMENT picked up a package containing a Breitling for Bentley. Busier than Grand Central Station on Turkey Day, hooboy. So many little dials, and wotsits. And guess what? I fell in love with it at first sight. Pics later.

Absolutely true. It also goes to that Importance of Function thread. Right, but that's aesthetic, which is in contrast to the functionality. My mum loves diamonds in watches, but though I wear them to show you on wristchecks, I don't much care for them myself. Agreed. I'm also wondering if pilots use all those "slideruler" functions, shown amazingly above in that Sinn watch. I realise they don't need to keep their eyes on the road, like automobile drivers, but man... I'm not big into chronos. I have two gens which have them, and I never use them. For my reps...well, with such a large collection, I'm sure I'll get the number wrong, but I must have about 5 too. If I had my druthers, I'd choose an atomic clock functionality on my watches without the clutter, though. Unfortunately, I'm not into Casios...
