Congrats, Mkymk! You're an awesome new member! (...was he ever seen here again?) P.S.: Not that anyone but you and By-Tor have votes, but if nominations for November are rolling, I would take a look at jsmith11.

Happy New Year! Whew, wow, thank God. This means I can totally skip Christmas Shopping. I'm sure Bergies will be okay without my orders! P.S.: Don't you love how they say, if you buy 3 watches you will get a 14% discount? Not 10, not 15, not 20. 14% if you please. Awesome find, Trios!

In one of the sailing photos I could've chosen for this post, it seemed like he was wearing a PO. I had to trudge through literally hundreds of photos, since it's really difficult to get closeups of people's watches. WTF. If I were a photographer (again), that's what I would concentrate on. *g* Interesting. Thanks, Ape.

so where does the name "Radiomir" come from?
Victoria replied to lanikai's topic in The Panerai Area
You just wait until I find celebrities wearing Alphas! -
BTW, I have a knee-jerk liberal reaction to posting info on anyone online. Even scammers. There are a lot of crazies out there, I mean really unhinged people, not just the pleasantly eccentric. It's a similar feeling I have about PayPal disputes, with a dealer who scammed me. You never know what series of repercussions it will lead to, not all of them related to our specific problem. But it's hard to actually say that, since who doesn't feel outraged at being scammed?

The man speaketh from experience! Painful painful gonad-shrivelling experience. BTW, since we're on the general topic of Radiomirs, here is a nice alternative Radiomir-hommage, the Alpha with Seagull ST19 movement: I dunno, I kinda like it. Pricetag? U$100-125! From: hxxp://forums.watchuseek.com/showthread.php?p=7711&mode=linear&highlight=st19#post7711 Despite it not being a real Panerai Radiomir, this is what those of you who don't want to be poseurs like Robin Williams, Bill Clinton, Jerome The Bus Bettis and other trivial celebrities should be wearing. -

Teacher, leave them kids alone! P.S.: I wasn't born yesterday. I know you better than your dealers do. -

Hmm. I seeeeeeeeeee. Since you're insistent on facts maybe you should consider spell-checking your post to Radiomir, not Radomir, unless RADO copied Panerai recently. -
Mr. Nanuq, may I ask you a technical question? I notice that the thread starter's post is now on top of each of the succeeding pages. Is this a new feature? I know it's a good reference, but I'd like to turn it "off". Thought of PMing Admin, but I'm lazy. EDIT: Ahh, now it also says "Replies" just under the original post. Convenient.

Took a dive with eyes closed (and fingers crossed)
Victoria replied to inmotion's topic in The Panerai Area
Gracious. Sunken weights no less. I totally agree. But I am batdoody scared to do the same, despite DSN telling me I can do what you did, so long as I have make sure the caseback's screwed on TIGHT, and checking the CG for the same. I really want to try this...ever since I saw member swimming with his sweet family in a pool. His wife told him if he ruined the PAM, he couldn't get another though. Hey, Inmotion thanks! Great blue-tint pic at that. -
Hanky Panky going on in the rep assembly line?
Victoria replied to RWG Technical's topic in General Discussion
Good God. There was poop too?? -
And we want to edumacate you. Since you Wiki'ed you already know, Ssabripo, the barebones history of the Xa Mas Flottiglia and its historic importance to the marque. But Panerai didn't really take off until an Italian-American actor who slurs more than speaks, spied a few chunky watches for a film he was making. He ordered a special set of them, and gave them to his high-powered California pals. In that decade and change, they became THE watch of choice for the nouveaux riche, the famous, the sporty, and those tired of Rolex. Curiously, as I mentioned on Risti, Panerai is our generation's Rolex. It's a cult watch, par excellence. http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=41501 Beats Scientology.

I am still searching for that special Panerista moment -- the infamous: "Excitedly spot a PAM. Raise your wrist at the person. Person does too. Exchange big silent knowing grins" I've been stuck inside my home for a while. Next week, I'm going to a Palm Beach do (it's the start of the season), and hope to meet my PAM soul mate there. PAnerai Model. First thing I asked here.

Ooh, what a great visual idea, Pug. That takes rep watch "wristchecks" (in this case, AR check) to a new level. And thanks to Slai for hosting it!

The good thing about humans is that their nature is constant, but their opinions always change. I think I admitted here I'm suggestible too, so I can relate! Oh, I'm sorry about that...you see my current avatar? That's my cousin at the time in Afghanistan. He got a tattoo to cover a (small) battlewound. He and I always swore never to get one. But if I had a disfigurement? Who knows. Wouldn't be Seal though. Very nice! Do you ever watch Miami Ink (correction, hehe)? It's actually in Miami Beach, obviously, but I pass by that place all the time. Wait, let me upload a photo later! One time, I had to go in and translate for an (ollllld) German woman, who wanted to get a tattoo. Thank God she had drawing skills, else I would've made a pig's breakfast of her description. Skinny Emo! LOLOL...well, I'll say this. If you're under 30, you get a pass from me. The girl who went through an all-black pseudo-French intellectual goth phase can't cast stones at anyone. But after 30, it becomes dodgy. Maybe the skinny Emo was too young? I thank you enormously for that. I'm fairly certain I won't take you up on your gracious offer, but I'd like to think there is someone out there I could turn to, for artistic inspiration!

Stapler? Yeah, we got that. Love it, TWP! Whatever makes you happy!

What do you mean "OR"? Thanks, Maxmsu!!

Stand back folks, M will destruct in 15 seconds! I SEE. Now I'm very intrigued. Show me a limited edition of anything, and I begin to covet it. Check it. Word. Oy.

Love it! People will think you're a bona fide spy. Not. Seriously, nice watch. A little pricey...what are its guts? BTW, Maxmsu, hope you saw my Tiffany shoutout in the Wristchecks this weekend!

Like some people swore they would never get a Panerai (me), these kinds of swears begin to prey on your mind. Then either consciously, or more often, unconsciously the idea filters through your mind -- willing itself to be contradicted. "Why shouldn't I get a tattoo? Hmm, that Panerai DOES look rather nice...". Before you know it, Glyph-city. Some people look magnificent with a tattoo. Some look like utter prats... Like the son of Rupert Murdoch I once met, at a vernissage at Saatchi & Saatchi...he wore one of those glyphs on his arm, which he made sure everyone saw by pushing up the sleeves of his formal suit! Reminded me of a recent remark this week, about watches. UPDATE: FOUND A PHOTO! I think the lighter-skinned you are, the better it looks. The skin's transluscence picks up the details so much better. Seems to be your case, TeeJay!
-
I agree with the others, Dylan. That's just your beautifully engraved PAM bridges, not stickers. Unless you can point a photo which raised your suspicions?

Hey thanks, Ryyannon! I love this watch...too bad I think it looks like a total guy's watch, or I would buy it LIKE THAT. I think this Rolex Explorer (6610) from 1957 is a steal: "Look at this (hard to find) vintage, 1957 ROLEX EXPLORER 6610! The substantial 36mm. stainless steel case (with 1957 date stamp) is as clean as one would ever find...shiny and pristine! The original rotor, automatic winding ROLEX, caliber 1030 movement was fully overhauled and serviced in October 2007. The expertly and expensively restored dial is a marvel to gaze upon...restored with evenly aged looking numerals, markers and original Mercedes hands to a mellow sepia tone...WOW! This is a stellar example of a Rarer ROLEX 6610 from 1957! $6495." ...oops, a little more than $500 though!

Heh. Funny reply. But you know me, I'm a pedant. So my reply is, let's not confuse the Office with the Person. The Pontiff has all those things you mentioned, including the Cross made under Michelangelo's direction (I touched above on the Fisherman's Ring given to each Pope, and smashed on his death). But Joseph Ratzinger himself tooled around in this Volkswagen. EDIT: Okay, he wears a watch. Whew. Discrete granpa watch. Nothing too unusual. Could be anything, from Timex to Patek. This, OTOH, looks VERY interesting to me. Bvlgari? Oakleys. You go girl!
