Its not the watch, the place, or the circumstance in these situations....... its YOU... a fool can be mugged in Mayfair, a savvy can traverse the ghettos of Rio without problem. Only you can decide, but the fact that youre asking is perhaps of itself the answer. .

China............wear what you like Few will appreciate quality (rep or real) Locals buy watches on an 'is it beautiful?' basis You wont even find any rep dealers with what could remotely be described as product knowledge! If you want your watch to be noticed, try something extreme..... my huge Tauchmeister did the trick a couple of trips back. As for bad guys........... same same everywhere, give off the aura of a sheep..... they'll come and shear you give off the aura of a rabid wolf.... they'll go look for a sheep (btw dont forget in China they're 4foot midgets and terrified of authority) .

Yesterday, after reading some of these posts I decided to wear my Sky/Moon. Wore it to a party. Within an hour I had about seven comments (I mean.....it kind of stands out!). When they asked me what it was and what it costs I told them the original costs over a million........but mine only cost a $100 bucks. Everybody just laughed.....and then wanted to know where they could get one. Ah yes, the Real World.... often overlooked in these threads I think that a replica of a one million dollar watch is more appreciated than a replica of a $4,000 watch. Any watch over $20,000 is more unatainable by most people. Wearing a replica of a $4,000 or even $10,000 watch sometimes says to people I want to be someone I'm not. Wearing a replica of a one million dollar watch says i appreciate watches and this is an homage to something I could never have. Absolutely correct! .............. Still, I would not do business with someone investing my money wearing a fake watch. You want someone who is successful investing your money. As opposed to someone wasteing $4K on a tawdry divers watch in the vain hope that it'll impress the pants off you to invest money with him When I do business face to face I always have a genuine Rolex on and there is no question to my client whether I am successful or not. It came across as the boss bought all of them reps and make them wear it to impress customers If I encounter people trying to impress me with a lame Rolex (real or not) I first wonder if I'm stuck in a 60's time warp when that sort of nonsense was real, then I kick myself for swimming into such a small pond and quickly get back out with the bigger fish. .

So just what statistical sector of the people out there should rep wearers be in fear of ?????? Watches are produced and broadly sold on their appeal to the eventual wearer. If the guy likes his PP rep he has all the rights in the world to own it and enjoy wearing it. I think this 'I caught you wearing a rep... tee hee' mentality reflects a little on yor own insecurity - and perhaps a little rationalisation of your own rep owning motives is in order. And as for 'I saw a penniless no-mark wearing a Pannie / Sub' remarks - last time I looked, back in the UK, any penniless no-mark (even one on benefits) could easily secure the relatively meagre finance needed to buy the origional. So the point is ???????? Rant over, Back to the rep-pots of Bangkok for another day's shopping .

All the Far East suppliers use a soft cloth and a wierd Chinese make up powder. (Not usually shipped out West due to looking too much like Pablo Escobar's finest) But I would reckon any Talc etc would be a good substitute. .

You are aware that the references are to the time on the watch - not - the time of day you set it. IDIOTS GUIDE TO SETTING: Step 1 advance the watch until the date changes (youve found midnight) Step 2 advance to 6am (or anytime outside the 10pm - 3am danger zone) Step 3 use pushers / crown to complete all day, date, month settings - set to Yesterday Step 4 advance to correct time today Step 5 Big self congrats for no grinding of cogs

Sorry but just cant bottle this up any more & I'm sincerely sorry if it bursts anyones bubble. BUT Am I the only one noticing the atrocious standard of stitching on many of the straps offered on the forum. I hark back to my days involved with pistols when the 'fit n finish' of the associated leatherwork was a faultless work of art, and any stitching doing this //// not this ----- or not in a true straight line would be dismissed as rubbish. Similarly edge finish was of paramount importance too. OK Rant Over Just seems incongruous to me that no one picks up on this when any manner of minuscule (and by comparison relatively unseen) 'flaws' on the reps they might support are the subject of incessant debate. .
