Within the next few weeks, I should be able to get them together for some actual side-by-side pics. That will be quite interesting. At least for me it will be. [emoji6] Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

So, my boss has a gen 1680 he picked up about 15 years or so ago from the original owner. IIRC, he said he paid somewhere around $1,000 for it. Last spring I asked him if I could take a bunch of pics as I would like to build a rep of it and needed some reference photos. He handed it to me and said go for it. As it turned out, I didn't have to build the rep myself. Instead I lucked into one already built up with a host of gen parts that I could purchase at a reasonable price. So, for comparison purposes, here are a couple of pics of my bosses gen and also of my recently acquired rep. Pics of gen are first, followed by a pic of the rep from a similar angle. For those that are interested, here are the build specs as I understand them. Case: Polex (laser etched 5513) Dial: gen Rolex service Hands: gen Rolex service Crystal: gen Rolex service Crown: gen Rolex service Crown Tube: gen Rolex service Bezel insert: gen Rolex service Movement: Gen ETA 2836 Bracelet: Tiger Concepts with WSO 580 end links and a TC 93250 clasp Pressure tested to 5atm by misiekped, who I also understand completed the original build. Let me know what you think. I also have more pics I will share later on in the thread. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

Just got my JF16610LN back from misiekped who performed a movement service and a gen DW installation for me. For my personal use, that's all I think it needs. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

Thank you! I appreciate your kind comments. And yeah, that photo makes the link look hollow, but it's solid. It measures out at a stitch over 351 thounsandths of an inch, (Yeah, I'm an American) or call it 8.92mm for the civilized world. I don't know if this helps or not. The next time they go on sale, I can pick one up for you. I'm pretty sure the shipping to you over in the UK would be about $20 -$25 or so. Should be able to get it landed for about $80, if we buy it on sale that is. [emoji6] Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

I've modded lots of these Invicta 8926s and their brethren over the past few years, and they really are a great watch on which to cut ones modding teeth. And I've even been able to pick them up for less than $35.00 on Amazon during their Black Friday and other Holiday sales leading up to Christmas. I can't stand Invicta watches generally, but this one is a pleasant exception. Here are some pics of a few of the "Invicta Mods" I have created over the past few years. Here are a couple of more pics of my JF16610LN, but this time on a handmade leather strap. As you can see, I am quite enjoying this new piece. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

Flying through the Chicago airport this morning and enjoying the honeymoon period with my new JF16610. And it seriously needs a gen DW transplant. This one is even more sucky than normal. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

I'd say go for it! The Tudor Black Bay is one of my favorite modern interpretations of a classic watch, and I think it would make a pretty good base for some light modding. As far as I can tell, the ZF Black Bay is the best rep out there right now. And as far as the Black Bay One goes, it is still listed as available on the Puretime05.com website, so I would see if you can still order one. The one problem I can see you having though is being able to find Mercedes hands long enough to look right with the larger Black Bay dial. Of course, if you are able to order the ZF Black Bay One, long enough hands would not be a problem, although they would be straight and not Mercedes Benz style. Below are two Black Bay mods I currently own. The Täufer Sailmaster uses a Helenarou case, while the BSH uses a ZF case. Both have Helenarou dials and hands. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
