  1. Yeah, it's off on the Omega tricompax models too, but they can be found at near, or under the $200 mark because of it. It's hard to justify almost $400 on a watch that could be spotted as a fake from 30 feet away. They seem to have gotten quite adept at moving subdials around - so why not come up with a new one that they could use for Ebels, Omegas, and other models with a tightly configured tricompax (3,6,9) layout? I re-read The Zigmeister's "Inside the Best Replica Rolex Daytona" article and took this basic diagram from him: I wondered why this theory cannot be applied to this situation. They did it with the Daytona (with mixed results - mine is still going strong, knock on wood), We have a Breitling foundation for running seconds at 3:00 (Beltley, Blackbird), talk about an AP ROO with seconds at 12:00. So why not make a good movement that could be used in this, and eventually other movements? Is it just cost? I know that quite a few "sec. @ 6:00" Daytonas were being passed off as Gen when they debuted. But the Chinese know about market saturation - sell it for a lot at the beginning, then slowly drop the price and you will move thousands of units. Anyway, is there any reason why they can't do something like this? (I'm neither a horologist, nor a mechanical engineer). Any thoughts?
  2. I don't know if I'd call it stupid - but the rep just looks like any other chrono. I think it's the crowding of the subdials - like analog guages in a sports car - that makes the gen btr1911 special. This is just ..." m'eh"
  3. I don't know what everyone's going on about. There's no "franken" here and besides the mismatched rider tab (which appears to be from an older "Asian" replica) this watch is 100% unmodified. It's a first generation BCE. Dark hands, famous Serial # 2073888, date font, gap between endlinks and bracelet, etc. Nobody went through any trouble at all on this.
  4. That's the model number (it should be the same) - the pic on the BforB site doesn't have a serial number (2037998)
  5. I've seen them drop to under $3000 around here here but considering how new it is - save a few hundred plus the tax. I'd say it's definitely worth looking at.
  6. I have a bridge in Brooklyn for sale to anyone who thinks that they can get an $8000 watch for less than the bracelet alone (just the bracelet is worth $1500). But if there ever were any doubts as to the watch's authenticity, I can say with certainty that: It happens to have the same serial number as this one:
  7. I'd apologize if I had offended anyone, but I'm sure it wasn't the language that offended people as much as the content. In fact, th OP was intended to offend - to offend both those who would gouge members here, as well as those who would gladly let it happen. What I don't understand is how someone could argue against warning fellow members when they're about to get ripped off, and claim a moral high ground while doing so.
  8. So how big is it? It looks on you almost how my S.A. wears on me - Is it that big, or do you have smaller wrists?
  9. Nice watch! I think you got quite a deal on that. Congrats.
  10. It's interesting how many of the members here refer to this place as a "community" and not simply a forum - guess you're not one of those... Many members are here because they were ripped off by a "swiss replica" or auction site. They are greatful to find a place like this and, understandably, begin to trust the members here and let their guard down. It is despicable to then go ahead and rip them off again under those circumstances. Well put. I couldn't agree more. +1 (that's a great sound bite)
  11. That's one of them, but not even at the top of the list. I can recall reading about a dozen 4 sale threads this week that made me ill. Most of them, after 5 or 6 price reductions, drop to where they should be, while others seem to be sold by PM with zero replies on the thread, or to someone with 1 or 2 posts who signed up very recently.
  12. That's exactly the type of [censored] I'm talking about. I did that once and got crapped on though. It would be nice if the group mentality would shift in this direction.
  13. Unfortunately, that is the case here. I think more so for you, because you also do the mods and it just might look like you have an agenda... BUT... I think that you have earned enough respect here that people value your opinion. When someone claims something was replaced or modified that clearly wasn't - you would know better than most. If more people spoke up in these threads then people would stop trying to rip other members off. I'm not talking about general discussions like this - I mean dumping directly on the sale thread.
  14. I know that I'm being harsh - but browsing the "watches" section these past few weeks has made my stomach turn. The fact that only supporters can post 4sale threads gives n00bs a false sense of security - and some supporters like to take advantage of that. You can't compare replacing a $50 strap on a $250 watch then trying to sell it for $400 to a custom limited edition charity auction - those situations aren't even close. I hear what you're saying, but who's going to crap on someones sale if it represents a good deal? Plus if it is an honest sale, the OP, and other members would easily be able to defend it.
  15. We all know that's not what I'm talking about. "old factory" versions and "out of production" models are one thing. But n00bs don't fall for those - they are in demand.
  16. Yeah, but you won't pay 250 euros for a USED or BROKEN version of the 200 euro watch.
  17. I think it's wrong that nobody ever says anything about it. I have to add that anyone who tries to sell a used Asian version of a watch for $100+ should be shot.
  18. I can't believe how F*ing retarded some of the members here are. Who do they think they're kidding? ex 1: $275 watch, plus $60 AR job, older version, (scratched and broken) VERY used = Over $500???? ex 2: $200 watch with problematic movement = "Reduced to $250" for "lucky buyer"??? Who are the morons that fall for this shi t? Don't give me this "local availability" and less risk crap. These are USED, FAKE watches. Threadcrapping on these guys should be MANDATORY! I think the first reply to posts like these should always be: "Who are you F*ing kidding?
  19. +1 is the 3rd digit in the model number a "3" ?
  20. I'm not sure about the nomenclature, but I got the white one when it first came out (v1?). It has the better dial and decorated rotor, but dark hands and is missing the tick mark following the 10 on the 12:00 subdial. My next one was a TT with a royal blue dial, no decorated rotor, dial "rings" not as visible as on first one, tick present beside 10 on subdial, better hands, and excellent double AR. I thought this was the v2!?
  21. True, the titanium reps had closed 4, but the s/s reps also came with open 4 that more closely resembled the gen. Maybe it's the lighting (or my LCD) but the one on the left with the open 4 looks like steel to me, while the one on the right has a closed 4. (photos used without permission)
  22. Nothing I see in that video comes close to what chickens go through. (WARNING: if you are sensitive but love fried chicken, do not watch this video)
  23. Actually, Gibson owns Kramer now, and manufactures Kramer guitars (I'm not current on whether they're any good or not, since Gibson does make a lot of stuff in China now) Gibson did sue Ibanez over the shape of the headstock on their LP copies back in '77 or '78, but by the time the suit was filed they had already stopped making them and were ripping off Guild headstocks instead. Guild never sued Ibanez, so as far as I know there has never been a ruling as to whether you could legally claim ownership rights to a shape. As far as the Kramer banana goes: It resembles a hockey stick more than anything else so I wouldn't worry about it. The big issue back in the '70s wasn't that Ibanez was ripping off Gibson, but rather that they were doing it and were outselling them so it was hurting Gibson's bottom line. Good luck and hope that helps.
