  1. George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Al Gore all wore Timex while in office or campaigning. George W. actually had a special Timex made for him by his former college roommate who ended up as Vice President of Timex.

  2. That's very interesting. I've never heard of Vulcain before. Which country did you buy this in...or was it ordered online?

The Vulcain Cricket was a VERY popular watch in the 50s, 60s, and 70s. Many presidents wore them. I read an article where LBJ visited Switzerland and had an assistant buy up all of the he could find that day while there, another story in the same article was about a president giving a speech about buying American and taxing imported goods and his Cricket went off during the speech, essentially outing him as a hypocrite. I believe they were the first watch of their kind, if not the first then they were the first to catch on.

  3. I agree to disagree. I don't judge people based on their watches in any position. There are people much more important than me that make much more money than me who think a $200 Seiko is an expensive watch whereas I don't have a problem dropping $3k on a Monaco. Different strokes for different folks.

  4. It is funny that RobbieG writes about the 2892 with the DD chrono module as a good thing as often people in the gen world bash the absolute hell out of it. I have never had a problem with any of mine in either of my Monacos or my Speedy reduced, so I don't disagree with the statement by R.G., but they don't get much love elsewhere.

I believe the AP ROO uses a similar setup however, correct me if I am wrong. I was thinking it still had a DD chrono module with a different movement, maybe a JLC?

  5. I am amazed that they can get the COSC cert before the other work is done and still be allowed to call it a Chronometer. You would almost expect a competitor to complain about that process. I know other manufacturers send in the base movement as well for certification before it is ever installed in a watch, but they don't usually add as many complications as what the ones here show.

  6. I have not read this whole thread, but is anyone else [censored] off that Obama was at a BASKETBALL game the other night? I am not out watching the Bulls get the [censored] beat out of them and I have a lot less problems than Obama. Hey President, get your ass back in the office and fix [censored]! Is this the Change he talked about?

  7. I'd rather see him wear a better piece. :bangin: If he wants a quartz maybe he should go with a Breitling Super Quartz. B) Anyone know what Bush wore on his wrist? :g:

He had a cheapie, but also a Patek. Proof that a good watch does not make a good president.

  8. The most powerfull man on earth,

    leader of the free world,

    .............................................................wearing a $325 watch??!!!!!!!

Clinton wore a Timex or a Casio in office. He went to Panerai after he got out. People don't like their president to flash bling, especially in these times. I don't give a [censored] if the president wore a sundial or a Flavor Flav clock as long as he can get the damn job done.
