Right now I am downtown in the financail district, but I live in midtown west not i think you are on 6th and 57th right? How long you going to be in town... maybe we can meet for a drink or something... i am not free today, but i am good tommorow and thru most of the w/e as g/f is back in chicago till monday. I am just looking to get into trouble. You might want to try walking thru the diamond district on 46th between 5th and 6th on the north side... there is a shop.. i cannot rememer the name unfortunetly, but they specialize in high end vintage and preowned rolexes. I am also told you can get some pretty good reps around the area as well but i have never tried. There is another vintage watch store on 50th right accross from rockefeller center where i got my rollie.. prices are a bit higher there though probably because of the real estate.

I am beginning to think that your post is less 'narrow' than it is 'narrow minded' Your initial post suggested to me that you feel you cannot hold anyone who cannot be sued or taken to law, accountable for their actions. This is a narrow-minded view of how to hold someone accountable for their actions. I can only take from this that you are in or work closey with the legal profession. That would explain your propensity to clarify points to absolute and utter confusion -

Thank you for clarifying my mind.. i am not quite sure what I would do if there were not people like you so willing to step up and clarify my mind especially given my houseplant like intellect and all.. silly me, all along, i thought your primary point was that "LITERALLY speaking, one can never hold anyone accountable with regard to a contract where the underlying activity isn't legal." and that the reason you felt that you believe that without legal recourse there can be no accountability, i.e. as a consumer because you have no legal recourse you cannot hold the other party accountable.. Not sure where I got that impression the legal analogy was used as an example not as the entire gist of your message. ... could be from the fact that you sited the legal recourse as an example you know... " You cannot, for example, sue your drug dealer for delivering three ki's of 60% coke when you contracted for five at 90+%..." I will stand by my post. Regardless of what LEGAL recourse may or may not exist, you can "LITERALLY speaking" hold the person accountable for delivering on a contract where the underlying activity is not legal. The fact that you cannot sue them does not mean they are not accountable. They may not be accountable in a court of law but they are accountable to their peers, and to the market. LITERALLY speaking -

Your 'narrow quote' would seem to indicate that we cannot hold persons accountable where the underlyign activity isn't legal, because as a consumer you do not have viable recource. [b]LITERALLY speaking, one can never hold anyone accountable with regard to a contract where the underlying activity isn't legal. You cannot, for example, sue your drug dealer for delivering three ki's of 60% coke when you contracted for five at 90+%. If you contracted with a watch dealer to supply 1000 fake Rollies with gen ETA movements, there is no court anywhere that would offer you any recourse no matter what you got My narrow response is that you do have recourse even if not through the courts, in that you can shop elsewhere the next time. In this case your recourse is to take your business elsewhere. That recourse exists in illegal goods markets as well as in more conventional ones. Secondarily, and as an aside, from the perspective of the wholesaler (dealer) if you truly do NOT have recourse to change suppliers, you can CHOOSE to be more carefull in how you market the product to your end-client that is WTF it has to do with your narrowly defined point. -

Bill, A court of law is not the only recourse for a dealer who obtains misrepresented goods. Dealers have a choice with respect to which suppliers they choose to do business with. If they find the products they source are misrepresented, source elsewhere. If the entire wholesale market is misrepresented, be more carefull about how you market the products. Either way, if you are not confident about the make-up of a product, don't up-market it. No one ever here is expecting perfection, but I think most of the members thought at least the dealers were at least confident that the products they sold were in line with what their clients thought they were buying. -

Well, it wasn't Pug it was me... but i guess I would answer by saying that if you cannot guarantee something, than don't.... i.e. don't say the watch has superlume if you are not sure it does. At length, these guys need to have the same confidence in their suppliers that they expect us to have with them, or alternatively not up-market the questionable features. BTW, the explanation provided in the first post, which positioned superlume in almost esoteric terms was odd... i mean saying "what is super lume?"...sounded a bit disingenuous to me. That statement taken by itself would lead me to believe they too may have at least suspected super luminova was not have been applied to the final product. -

The fact that they dropship does not mean they are not responsible for accuratly representing their products and it does not mean they are not accountable for the quality of the merchandise. In the business world, this is known as re-selling... it is just not accurate to suggest that a reseller is not accountable for the merchandise he/she markets when he dropships. Dealers need to make sure they carefully choose their suppliers, knowing full well that their business reputations are at stake when they do so. Bottom line is, the dealers choose the suppliers they do business with.. we do not, and we should not. My job is to pay for the product, the dealer's job is to deliver the product I paid for. Period. It is up to them, and not me, to figure out how to do that. Dropshipping may present a problem, but quite frankly it is not MY problem it is the DEALERS' problem. -

I agree. even if your points have already been raised, it is important to step up and let yourself be heard, and now is the time, if for no other reason than to dimension the debate and get a sense as to how important the issue is to the membership. -

I do not want to go into detail but suffice to say he had a very similar model that i mistakenly thought was the 6th gen, and he was very clear about what the differences between what the two were, and why he thought his version was not suitable for me. Based on what I am reading, I am not at all clear that is a common practice. -

Without going into great detail,I had a similar expereince with Silix on a 45MM PO. He was completely upfront and honest even thought it meant not getting the sale, at least not this sale.... maybe he realizes there will be other opportunities.. or maybe he is just that kind of person.. either way, i will be working with him again -

I do not have the buying experience that many of you have on this forum, I own a grand total of 5 reps all obtained within the past 9 mos and 4 of those have been purchased within the past 5 months or so, but I do intend to continue collecting at this pace so this is an important issue to me. And I have limited dealings with these dealers, but clearly, they are major providers to this market, and potentially market makers, so again, from that perspective this is an important issue to me. To me, this post as well as Pug's earlier wherein the question of weather the B&R movement in question is a clone, was raisded nails it. While there have been a lot of thoughtful responses on both sides of the issue on this I have l yet to read a proper justification for calling something what it is not. This is not an ETA movement... ETA IS a noun... call it a copy, call it 28.k beat movement... call it Fred... I don't care, but please do not call it an ETA movement if it is not one. Samething with Sapphire. These are real terms and have real meanings in the world.. there should be not room for interpetation as to what we are referring to. Using words like Asia ETA is a step in the right direction but it does not go far enough.. it is like Code for the insiders... just say what it is. Like most others posting here, I am not interested in slamming individuals or making personal attacks. I have said all along, the issue here is in naming convention. We need to get is straight and move on so we can proceed with business as usual. -
Dude, you need to get over that!!

Anyone Else Have A "tweener" Wrist For A Strap
eddhead replied to crystalcranium's topic in General Discussion
By way of clarification, I have noticed that wrist and by extension, finger thickness will change with weather conditions in fact that is what i meant in my post actually, sorry if it was unclear ... But, I have not noticed that stainless steel or precious metals do the same... at least not to the same extent... but it is probably due to my lack of observation. What you say about the leather strap makes sense.. but for some reason, my straps seem to adapt to my wrist more easily than the metals do.. maybe it is a state of mind -

I do not know too many people who do not have 'tweener' issues... for one thing wrist sizes tend to change with the weather. For me that is a big deal. I had a link removed from a watch not too long ago but we had a warm day last week, and it was cutting into my wrist for that day. Under the best of circumstances, bracelets are either uncomfortable (too tight) or a bit 'floppy' on me. Straps I tend to wear on the tight side because they are pourous and expand a bit to fit my wrist regardless of the tempeture and humidity. -
I completely agree with both posts. I am also not tall, 5'8 but I go about 185 pounds and am pretty muscular and athletic. Still my wrists are only about 6.75" Notwithstanding the thin wrists, I can wear mosly any watch I choose (except maybe a 50mm railmaster) without a problem. I also agree that watch itself is a consideration. Today I am wearing my 45.5MM PO... it really does not wear large at all. My 44MM PAM wears just appears larger for the reasons you sighted... it is a thicker watch, and of course the CG's are wider. I can and do wear either one without it looking odd, but it is interesting how the PO 'wears' much smaller than the PAM.
