  1. Rambo IV and Rocky Balboa were shot practically at the same time... Sly had to "juice-up" HGH to rebuild his muscle to shoot Rocky, so he proposed making better use of the muscleroid appearance to do the 4th Rambo. It's called synergy! And, believe me, he is not 5'9" tall... Wide maybe, but not tall... I have been hitting golf balls at Wentworth by his side and he is relatively short. Nice guy, though.
  2. It's funny... I just got my 7753 PAM251 and I thought the bezel was correct since panerai.com shows the 251 as "Tachimetre"... But reading this thread and others, and checking some second-hand watches in the web it looks like "Tachimeter" is the correct bezel... WTF then with the official Panerai website?!! Having spent so much $$$ in my 251 I doubt i would spend it again for a more perfect version, but you guys still have my moral support!! Good luck, Lello. And thanks...
  3. Brian, I think you are wrong about the 251... The bezel of the 250 says "Tachimeter" but the 251 reads "Tachimetre"... Check Panerai
  4. Hey, great review! Thanks for sharing! I actually ordered a 7753 PAM251 from Josh only yesterday!! I am glad to see that the bezel in the white dialled 251 is correct... I only checked now after reading your review!
  5. I am trying to introduce a friend into the "dark side" of reps... He has small wrists, though, so he would ideally want to start with a 42mm Radiomir; Chrono, if possible. I see Josh has a 047 in his web, but I do not know about the quality of these non-so-typical PAM reps... Are they any good? I would not want my friend to be disappointed with his first rep!! Does DSN do any small Radiomir? Thanks for your help as always, fellow RWG friends...
  6. Simply beautiful, Kruzer. Congratulations!
  7. Are you sure all the 250 have "Tachymeter" on the bezel? I am asking this because I just found this 251 for sale with "Tachymeter" (instead of Tachymetre which is the correct one for the 251 according to what I see in Panerai's official web). It says that it comes with all the papers...so I would be a bit surprised if it was a rep... http://www.watchuwant.com/watches-for-sale...o-Daylight.html So I am thinking maybe there are both versions around... Not an expert, though, just a fan. Someone else could surely shed some more light...
  8. I am not sure I understood this bit, Kruzer. Which are the older tritium based models? And why exactly do you think they will hold their value better?
  9. My thirst for Panerai seems to be needing a gen to be quenched properly... I travel a lot, so the GMTs are very appealing to me. Hence I am considering the PAM 088 or the PAM 161 with the steel-titanium strap. I have been lucky enough to get a 027A from River and I also have a beautiful 177h from DSN. Hence, the steel-titanium bracelet tempt me, as a change from the leather straps. And I really like the combination of the two metals. But I hate the idea of paying 1.5k just for a piece of metal in the form of a bracelet... The more "pilot-ish" dial of the 088, I like a little bit more perhaps. But knowing there is a good rep of the 088 out there makes me dubious... Or maybe I should buy a chrono...but there are also pretty good swiss7750 reps out there...and if you spend $$$ on a gen you want it to be a non-replicable gen, right? Right?? Do i need to buy a gen at all?? No, no...I definitely need a gen. I know it is all a matter of personal taste, but I would like to know the opinions of my fellow RWG members!
  10. I'd like to see more group buys...organized "institutionally" by RWG. We are already a bunch (I know mods are always complaining we need more members, but still we are a decent number). And if we could agree on certain products or parts which sooner or later will be of good use to most rep fans, we could surely raise a number of petitions (is this English) which would derive in: - products being built that would otherwise never exist; - obtaining parts at prices that would be unbearable for the individual; - simply obtaining parts...an order of 1 part may not be enough to entice a company to sell something, but 20 might raise sufficient greed... - etc And also, I believe that some products I may not be interested in as an individual, if arranged by RWG in a way that delivers a price & perfection I would not be able to reach on my own...that might lead me to sign up for it. Sorry for the long mail, but just a few examples: an RWG joint-purchase for 30 Valjoux 7750 might be more successful than my individual search for one; or I would feel lazy to buy a PAM029 and then go for the cyclops, datewheel and superlume mods (even more now The Zigmeister's gone) but if there was a joint-purchase for 25 of these I would certainly go for it an so would (I think) many EU members if we managed to have them built "at source", not having to send the watches back and forth; etc. Just my 2cents (so long a mail compared to my average one that it actually is more like 3 cents... )
  11. This is unfair! I have had practically no time to enjoy you & your knowledge! Take a rest & come back soon...
  12. The 196 is on my wish list too...but I often have doubts between the 196 and the 250... With the 7753 both would be equally wearing their original movements, wouldn't they? They are actually the two PAMs I would consider in a white dial...
  13. It is not too late for you, Cleobis... Six months ago, about when I joined the forum, I did not understand at all the Panerai thing... Overhype, by all ways... And funnily enough the HBB was one of the reps I would have thought I'd buy first... Now I am considering to buy my third...Panerai (177H, which I am wearing now, 027A which some good friends from RWG will mod to make perfect...and now thinking of the 029). Not too late for you, as I say...go for the HBB!! You will save a lot of money... Now seriously, until you wear one it is difficult to comprehend the wonderful mix between Panerai's simplicity and, at the same time, how much attention it draws... Don't doubt it.
  14. Beautiful! How come you only got 9 messages and you already know how to post spectacular photos?? Me fool...(old fool)...
  15. After having been lucky with the 027A (managed to get one with the 2892 movement ) I am a bit sceptical about my luck being big enough to get me a 029 with the 2892 too... ...so I am thinking going the Davidsen way and settling for the 2836-2 modded by him...once my wallet heals a bit from its recent (permanent?) loss of blood. Just wondering: Davidsen says in his specs that his 029 does not have AR coating...is that how it is supposed to be, i.e., like the gen?
  16. Nice Slava! I was in Moscow last week and I went to the central shop that they have there (the original factory is being tore down and transformed into apartments, I saw it too on my way to the airport). Sadly the models they now have are mostly limited to childish touristic models (with banners and the like). Jap movements, mostly quartz. A pity. Your pocketwatch is beautiful. Wear it well...attached!
  17. Got it, got it, got it!!! Now I HAVE to do the cyclops & datewheel mods... They are pretty dead giveaways for the 27A and being such a wonderful rep they must be corrected... I have asked bazonkers (pm) for help as to how to source them, but if someone else can help I'd appreciate it.
  18. In Madrid, for whatever you may need, Joao... Not Andalucia unfortunately for me...
  19. I got another knock on my door...and I should be getting a brand new 027 on the post today... Will report further in a few days...
  20. I have only sent back a watch once, regular registered mail. No problems. Lengthy, though.
  21. Truly beautiful, watchwatcher! No I know who I have to kill to get one...please pm me your address... ;-) Now, seriously, when I say "patience" I mean that a month ago noone surely expected to see any more of these watches on the market...and yet River appeared with a few, right? I expect to be equally lucky... But if any of you fellow rwg members ever see a dealer or someone who they would personally trust (out of past dealings or the like) I would appreciate a knock on my door...
  22. He, he... You want good pics? I can give you good pics...yet I don't have a 027... My price would certainly be reasonable and of course I would tell you it is functioning... I can see you have never been scammed...good for you!!
  23. When I try those sort of excuses at home for cheating on the wife it never works...
  24. You are right, my friend, but I already asked and it is out of stock...as dadog predicted. No matter how tempted I am about both the 27 and the 29 i can't seem to dare buy from a guy I don't know from a forum I just registered in... I feel more comfortable knowing there is a Josh or a Davidsen back there to send the watch back if there is something wrong... Patience...
