  1. I think that people should do their "homework" before go straight to PM somebody...

There are a lot of info in the fora... and the newbie may do himself a favor (to himself and to the community) opening a thread about a question that hasn't yet replied... (share the knowledge!)

Whenever you can't get the replies that you're seeking, then, and only then, PM someone and politely ask for help...

"Right here, right now" doesn't work.

  2. How many could tell that you're wearing a rep? Few of the people I meet have ever handled a Submariner in their whole life... I'm use to buy only rep of watches that I can afford or that people may think I can... (a 50,000 $ Patek? C'mon guys...) and I've owned many expensive gen in the past (Rolex 1601/14000, Eberahard Navymaster, two Breitling Chronomat, Universal Geneve Polerouter...)

And the nowadays rep are just stunning... Only a trained eye may catch any tiny fault/difference...

BTW... I would not say anything about my watches... I just let them guess...

  3. Thank you both...

Forgot to say that I won't spend a grand... Hence the "affordable" cases and dials are the older one...

I'm aware that I can fit an ETA clone on the newer cases (If rep maker can do it then we can do it aswell)...

I need to know if buying an old case is a waste of money or if it could be used to fit a good clone (ETA or something else) and build a good franken.

Furthermore I love the "plexi" 4 digit Oyster Perpetual look (No Sub) and that's what I would like to wear...

  4. What if I buy a gen Rolex case and dial of an old Datejust or Perpetual Date?

    (Rewind)

Few months ago I nearly bought case/glass/dial/hands/bezel/crown/bracelet of a gen Rolex 1501... eveything was there except the movement.... Nearly, but I didn't. (Everything was in very poor condition and the dial was an awful brownish/reddish...)

    Back to present...

What if I get an old Date/Datejust WITHOUT the movement?

What movement may fit in that case? (Talking about size and stem height...)

In those years (70's) many Oyster Rolex had the self winding 1570 caliber...

May I mount the Yuki 3135 or a 2836/46? (I know... there is not reply if I don't mention the case...)

@Legend Al, I need your help here... Please...:notworthy:

    Thank you all!

  5. Homework is... "mandatory"... :inverted:

Seriously, reading the forum I've got a bunch of info that are helpful to take the right decision when buying a replica (and sometimes are helpful for gens aswell)

Enjoy your stay and remember that you can PM me for help at anytime... :)
