  1. You need the DG2813 on this page here

It would be about 20 bucks with shipping I believe. You would then have to swap the datewheel overlays. I would buy that movement from chieftang if i were you, it probably already has the overlay installed and all you would have to do then is swap it out. If you've never done this, and don't have the hand removing/setting tools, a watchsmith could do it in probably under 10 minutes.

  2. Nice pics, thanks.

The lume doesn't glow at all, but that's good since the genuine would be long dead by now. I love the 3-D look of the newman dial, especially with the distortion caused by the domed edge of the crystal, it makes the outer track seem deeper. The crooked markers combined with the faux tritium caused a slight panic attack.

Yes, I do have a lot to learn before building this watch. I'm trying to cram right now so at least I buy the right stuff, and also to understand what I'm thinking of going into.

How did you get the little mirror markers off? I'm worried about peeling some of the red paint off too if some clear glue did get onto there. They probably just pop right off though.

Did you also add the balance bridge and rolex bridge to your V72s?

  3. yes, it's all about the subdial alignment. Is there a measurement or something to go on? I think if I do go for it, I'll just go with a V72 but for now I'll stick with the 7760. How do you think the newman dial will look on that watch? I have a newman V72 dial from him and 2 of the silver hour markers are a little off kilter, and the luminious dots, well I suppose thats what those are, are uneven. Actually, thats probably glue that seeped out. Hmm.

Freddy, how is the crystal on your 7750? Plastic domed? I've seen the pics but don't recall seeing a side view or angle view. I'm assuming yours is from the same source. As for the 77xx movement, is that the one with the added train bridge for the seconds chrono?

  4. Look, I am new here, although not new to collecting or other forums, but doesn't forum rule 25 say the following:

[25] - Do not visit an AD (Authentic Dealer) with your replica watch and show it of as the real thing. If you do so, we are not interested in hearing about it. Such post will be deleted.

I'd expect a mod to come along at some point and delete this dumb post.

Well its a good thing nobody has said they did that here. Good thing nobody recommended it either. I expect a mod to come along and read this post....and thats it.

Nice first post! Thanks for supporting the forum!

  5. Obviously the V72 and variants, and I guess the V23 fit, but is that all? What about the older 7730's or what is a V71? Does that exist, and if it does, will that fit? Ideally, I would like a V72, but a thousand bucks? I know I'm not going to get anything for like 20 bucks, but what other 2 dial or 3 dial movements will fit?

I see some 23's on there, and a 71, and tons of other working valjoux jobs. I'm trying to explore all of my options here, right now I have decided to get the DW 7760, and also buy a case set and start on building a more accurate 6263 as time and money permit. I have to buy the 7760 version too since I can't wait to see that on my wrist.

  6. I knew all the words in your list but can you please explain how this one works (I've heard that it is illegal in Italy)

    [censored]

Well it's illegal in Italy because of all of the [censored] being [censored] about the [censored]. I goes back the [censored] era where such things were frowned upon such as [censored] and [censored].

  7. I have been seeing a lot of censored threads lately, and I decided to look up what I can't use without censoring. Here is the list I compiled:

  8. So, I recently purchased a "perfect" Anniversary Sub from Andrew (trustytime) and brought it to a jewler. I made up a BS story about how I got the watch and asked him if it was genuine. My hope was that it would take him all the way till he opened the back to discover it was a rep.

Well, I handed him the watch, he looked at it for 2 or 3 minutes, and he handed it back to me and said "Its real...I dont even need to open it, I can tell by the look and feel, you have very generous family".

Just letting people know that a perfect looking sub does exist. It has so far kept great time, but I have not as yet tested its waterproofing.

Open an account with a different name on TRF, tell the same story and post some pics, I'm sure they'll call it out in a hurry.

and I'm sure about 20 snot nosed purists will take the opportunity to say (brag) about how they only buy from an AD

  9. I am not particularly fond of giving away alcohol for a present... I think, f.x. Yann Arthus-Bertrand's breathtakingly beautiful book "The Earth From Above" would be more appropriate for a guy like The Zigmeister (if he hasn't got it already). I mean, look at his paintings. The book is a keeper, the Patron will be gone once the bottle is empty...

That is a great book, and a great idea. I wonder if there will be enough to do both? That book does weigh in at 12 lbs and is HUGE, maybe too expensive to ship?

Well just to speed this up I'm in for $20

    Ken

You would think that with all of the members that benefited from this man's posts, there would be no speeding up necessary. I'm making my donation right now.

  10. I have seen some crazy stuff with the langes. "Lange 1" with 2 small movements showing 2 time zones, moonphase (actually am/pm indicators) It's nutty out there. I just like the general look of the watch, and it's so far fetched that accuracy wouldn't bug me too much as long as it isn't ridiculous. For this model, I don't really care what anyone thinks, I'd enjoy checking the time and seeing the close approximation of the elegant original.

Narikaa, that is one of the best I've seen, great find!

  11. Look at this, history is revealing its self. What have I done? I always find the past and the roots of places and people interesting, so this is nice. As for the "great stampede", that is apparent when looking at the date joined and member number under everyone's avatar, it looks like over a thousand joined in the first few months? Very cool.

That is a really cool story, thanks for sharing.

Your welcome. I enjoyed thinking back. Life was much easier back then.

  12. Perhaps this one will please you?

    lange1_medium_i_101_025.jpg

I could get one of these for a little more dough. Don't like the black strap though, brown looks better.

Do you mean like for $19,000 more dollars? That looks like a Gen. I would stay away from whoever is using that as their pic. What site are you looking at anyway?

  13. You can believe me on this or not,,it sounds far fetched but it did happen.. ....

I believe it and it's pretty cool. Too bad you didn't see Brad Pitt, it looked like he had a solid gold submariner on in that movie.

My favorite show, Lost, is abound with Rolexes. Jin had a Daytona that the gave to Michael in season 1, and I've seen the supporting actors wearing them as well. I suppose the supporting actors are just wearing their own, and I never did a freeze frame on Jin's.
