  1. Can anybody explain what ZING is ?

In a very simple and clear english for frogs :D

    Well, lets see....

It can be used when someone says something witty or sarcastic. Sometimes when someone says something insulting or rude, and the other person replies with something funny and sarcastic, which is even more insulting. Or just even means "WOW!"

    Example:

Someone calls you cheap for buying a rep, and you reply with "I spent all the money on lap dances from your mom at the strip club" ZING!

  2. I never really cared for Movado, much less a rep of one, but I was waiting for everyone to arrive at the mall for dinner the other day and stopped in all the ADs and played with watches for an hour and a half or so. I checked out some rollies, rado, a MB timewalker and then off to the movado store and some of the new ones looked really cool. Don't remember the names of them, but it doesn't matter because I don't see any on any dealer's sites anymore. Are they really that unpopular? Anyone know who has a few that I can browse? I may have to try Ioffer and see if i get some straight junk or not.

  3. I wasn't aware that this watch was 'plated' with ceramic, I thought it was solid. If this was your perception too- contact your dealer and express your disappointment, and he may just have you paypal him 30 USD for a replacement (happened to me twice under similar circumstances). Otherwise, and this is just an unproven idea- buy some JB Weld, form it to the chip quickly and shape it flush, let dry and wet-sand if necessary, then paint chip with ceramic white appliance touch-up paint. Here is a dealer who has one similar for $77 shipped (on the slow boat), maybe that would be easier.

It's not ceramic, but it looks like it. Description says 'quartz' but my wife's sweeps smooth...

    Good luck, Arty

Some fun beaters on there. Is this guy on any of the forums?

  4. Wow, I woke up today with a message that my phone has been found! It was stuck in some chicks couch since Friday night. Of course I already bought a new one, but this is good. I will get it tomorrow. Thank goodness I don't have to try to figure out all of my contact info again, get a sim card, and get the new phone unlocked. (I bought an 8310 with gps instead of 8320 with wi-fi calling)

The money pit of these jeans has become a bit shallower, now I think they only cost me.... 116+200(bb pearl)+20(pen)+8(smokes)=344 not including lighters and change. They still suck though. I'll be stopping back at Nordstroms this weekend to find something better.

Oh ya, when I bought them, I thought they were dark blue, but got home and noticed they were faded black--DUH. That should have been a sign right there.

  5. I can't do the bags. Not my thing. I may have to get those zip strings (no, not elastic) or whatever they're called attached to my keys, wallet phone and sunglasses. Once anything gets 30 inches or so away from me, it zips right back into my pocket. Awesome.

I think the pants are going into the salvation army drop box next time I head there. I have a bunch of old clothes I need to get rid of anyway. Then again, if someone is in the place where they receive clothes from the salvation army, they probably don't want to be losing anything.

  6. The jeans price isn't what Llsteve is shocked about. It's the fact they ended up costing him two Blackberries, a lighter and a pack of smokes. Ouch!

He should've gotten this from Bergies, instead.

    louis_vuitton_cigarette_case.jpg

I bet I would have lost it....

I know, more money gets you pockets.

More pockets gets you money. (if you are a pickpocket)

  7. This reminds me of something the owner of the Art of Shaving told me:

Usually, this type of spray has a little bubble plastic cap on it, right? Well, it seems men don't like fiddly things like caps and are always forgetting to put it back on.

It comes with a little "clip" instead. :p

    I would never clip it....what a hassle!

Ok, now I bought another BB curve, so should I factor that into the total cost of these jeans, or wait until I lose it?

One friend did suggest that I get zippers tailored into the pockets :p

  8. I didn't even expect this many responses. every time i wear these pants they cost more and more. I called t-mobile already and someone has used the phone after i lost it. WTF. They won't tell me when or what # was called, even thought it's going to show up on my bill when the cycle ends. Retards.

edit: I thought I put this up on the 1st post, guess not. Makes a little more sense with this info. Blackberry pearl- $200. Blackberry curve $250. Pen- $20 Smokes about 10, etc. I think im out about $600 total because of these jeans. Ha, thats what I was talking about by most exp jeans.

  9. I am soo ticked off right now. I bought a pair of jeans at guess, and of course I didn't look at the tag before I bought them, and when the clerk told me the total, $116 something, I was a little shocked. I shelled out the cash, the jeans look awesome so WTF, why not? Anyway, the things have the shallowest pockets ever. Stuff keeps falling out. Important stuff.

I have now lost my second blackberry, as well as a cool pen, and a few packs of marlboros. Not to mention lighters and change that fell out.

I guess I'll have to stop wearing these.

  10. You don't wear that? What a shame. With the rehaut on the noob case, its ok, I have most of the parts so I'm just looking to step the watch up a couple notches since I have to do a few things. Then when I really do get around to a 1680 I can hopefully get it right on the 1st try.

I just thought of this, can I make it an LV? I can't remember is its a 5 or 3 tick dial on the gen LV subs. Noobmariner is 5 ticks...

  11. I can recommend the Noob dial, bracelet, date overlay, and even case back but not case. You want an old school case if you can find one to do it right.

Perhaps. Do you mean a lug-holes case? I thought the noob case had a pretty good shape to it.

Maybe I should just put it together as a Noob, and start a 1680 if I'm going to get a new case. Then I have 2 good watches, and less money! I love it.

  12. well yes that makes sense. :D

Do you mean the band is solid gold? If so I do believe (although I am willing to stand corrected) that a solid gold band is an option Rolex will do for any watch on request.

    Ken

Its two-tone, and the gold links are solid. I gave him a crazy look, which may have been unwarranted. I know he didn't custom order anything, as he is an impulse buyer.

I think it's real knowing him, I just always thought the mid links should be hollow. I did throw it on the scale. 165 grams.

  13. Hi,

My buddy has a Gen TT GMT II that he says is real, and since he makes over 500k a year, I don't doubt it. It is the newest version with green GMT hand. I was scoping it out and when I bent the bracelet to look at the midlinks, they were solid. Huh? Are the gold ones solid or something? Or hollow but filled in somehow on the sides?

  14. Hi,

ETA 2824-2 shouldn't allign correctly, an ETA 2836-2 will do.

Noob dw is the best (not the wrong bold version some seller had before), as well as the dial.

BTW cubic-works has pics of the open 6 and 9, but he actually sends the closed 6 and 9 version.

About the bracelet.. gen strap has hollow mid links and solid end links, not solid mid links. Noob bracelet is really good, and I'm almost sure that a gen bracelet wouldn't fit your noobmariner.

Gen strap will fit maybe with the painstaking process of switching the endlinks. Another problem with doing that is the Gen and rep parts may not sit together properly. The only reason I want to use a solid mid link is because of the weight. Noob bracelets are pretty light.

As for the 2824, i tried it already, but never bothered keeping it in the old watch: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=54283&hl=

As far as the date mags go, a lot of the Newbs are closer to gen, than the old wives tale of a date window that fils the cyclops eye:

But a different crystal and/or cyclops eye doesn't make that much of a difference in magnification. It's primarily the depth of the rehaut that determines this (like objects appear bigger in a magnifying glass, the further you pull the glass away); the deeper the rehaut, the bigger the date mag--but again, the problem with some reps is because of their deeper rehaut, the date mag is too big.

As far as the bracelet goes, the Newb bracelet is the best, but the clasp stampings leave something to be desired--just buy a $48 "perfect" bracelet from Josh, and swap the clasp & buckle out.

Thats good about the date mag, that looked like quite a hassle. Nice tutorial on the Sub/seadweller mods BTW.

  15. I'm building a sub based on a Noobmariner, with solid mid link/end pieces bracelet, (although I may spring for a gen bracelet if I can find one for basically a steal,) eta 2824-2, gen crown and aftermarket bezel.

Ok, so the Noob dial seems to be the fav, and at least on some of them the rehaut looks OK, as well as the over all case shape. I will be modding the crown guards a little bit, and I think the case will be very close.

The bracelet I have for it looks great, it's new, from Josh, but I may put the endpieces off of the Noob bracelet on this one. (Rubber clamps)

The thing that is going to bother me is the date mag, the Noobs aren't 2.5x like the top of the line models and of course the gen.

Does anyone out there know if any other crystals can be fitted to this case? Or am I going to have to swap out the cylclops only?

I have what may be a gen cyclops, but it's old and scratched up a little.

Oh and I need a datewheel overlay too. Anyone know where besides cubic-works has them? I think he only has open 6's and 9's

This is the watch I bought from Cool-arrow this week btw.

Anyone reading this and seeing something more I should do (besides buy an MBW case B) ) let me know.

Especially let me know if you want to sell any of these parts!

  16. Ubi-

It's good to see you back. I read your posts on the old forum about your 1st frankenjust when I was looking for info on how to build mine. I talked to a few guys on there, and they said you and most of the builders were over here now. You were gone, but the posts live on so to say.

Those Daytonas you built are amazing BTW
