Come on Pix! take a look on Ebay, searching for 'diamond tester'.
both sapphire and diamonds are very strong and hard/solid materials. Mineral glass is much softer. So it recognises the sapphire as diamond and the mineral glass as 'no diamond/sapphire'
bought mine from:

Just never buy the BR02. They suck. Had 4 of them. 3 rosegold and 1 steel. All of them had some small trouble. The rosegold was so sharp around the case, that it even cut the strap off. (!!)
The strap of the steel version was way too stiff. Uncomfortable. Others had problems with keyless works, loose inner bezel, sticking minute hand, dust underneath glass.
Just tooooo much.
cheers,
J.

I checked for the tool which seems affordable. But it's say to recognize diamonds.
Can you explain more on the indications given ? Are there various gems which are analyzed ? Thx for any comment.
Works very simple. press the end of the tool on the glass. wait until it beebs. if it beebs it is sapphire. if not, then not.

I got the diamond tester, because i deal with many replica's, also for sale. And i need to know what i am selling and also what i am paying for.
The tester always worked so far.
Some watches were marketed as being sapphire, but actually were not. For instance the PAM253 and a BR02. Sometimes the dealer markets its watch as being 'synthetic sapphire'. Whatever that is. And some as 'real sapphire'. For what i know all sapphire made for watches is synthetic made. And something being marketed as 'synthetic sapphire' sometimes actually is mineral glass.
Als i found something on some Hublot Big Bang watches.
From the normal 'old' factory, the one with 28.8k movement, the HBB Lite: The front is sapphire, the back plain mineral.
From the new factory with 21.6k movement, the Lite version with AR has both front and back with sapphire. ....
Most expensive high end replica's which are marketed as sapphire also have sapphire. The PAM253 was an exception, because the domed glass is quite unique and not used on other models. That is why probebly they did not make that anymore.
Cheers,
J.

I always use a diamond tester, an electronic device bought from Ebay. It never fooled me.
Just my 2 cents.

File off a bit from the bar? or the strap? It seems the holes in the strap are just not big enough....
and right now watching the football !
from the bars of course. The bar that was stuck in my Slevin, when i got it out i saw then they (chinese factory) even filed off a bit from the bar to make it fit. And even like that it was stuck like a brick in a wall.
-
I had the same problem with the Ingenieur kevlar strap.. couldn't get the bars inside, even with out the watch
And now? did you file it off a bit to make it fit?
-
Don't think it is going to happen.
This watch is already too old i guess. The new Aquatimers are more in demand and have higher margins...
-
The second, i cannot get the pins inside again. I can remove the bracelet easily.
Honestly i've tried once and it wasn't a big effort....it was freaking stiff but i remember it was the same with my Iwc Gst.
Okay, that kinda sucks.
What I saw on the bar of the Aquatimer, was that they filed parts of the bar to make it fit.
You could try the same.
And if it is too loose, a good watch smith can help you. they can poor some substance in the small hole. they heat that stuf, poor it in, and then they can put the bar in (when it was loose). My watch smith also used this on a small screw and screw hole that did not fit anymore because it just kept turning once.
-
right now i managed to remove 1 side. with the use of lubricant.
But still it is very stiff. The one bar i took out i saw that they even took some metal of the bar, to make it fit into the strap...
Only with the right tools it can be done. I have some watch smith tools but not all of this.
Thanks for the ideas.

I have the opposite problem i can't replace the ss bracelet with the rubber strap (well not a real issue considered i like much better the ss bracelet).
Actually i can remove the bracelet but i haven't been able to mount the strap.
How come you are unable to mount the strap? Because that is the same what i need to do... Unmount rubber strap, mount ss bracelet.
It does not fit? or you cannot get the bars inside again?
-
They were bent on mine. A small hammer did the job though... ;-)
Thanks,
did you still need to push the small button while hammering the watch?
what did you hammer? the watch to also make it bent to get the bars out? haha

Hi Guys,
i have been trying to get the rubber strap removed from my Slevin Aquatimer. To replace it with the SS bracelet of the Yellow Aquatimer. I want to switch both. The Slevin with SS bracelet looks more neat and the Yellow with rubber strap will look more sportive.
I tried all but the right procedures i guess, since I do not seem to succeed in getting the strap off the watch case.
There is a small push button on the strap near the case. But if i push that and simultanuously push the strap bar, that bar does not give way 1 mm.
And i also did not dare to use a small hammer and screwdriver to hit the bar. First i would like to consult you guys!
Does anyone have an idea what i might be doing wrong?
Please, some ideas will be so helpful and will be much appreciated.
Cheers and thanks in advance,
J.A.

Airmail is best. safe and reasonable fast. Many times i used Airmail to ship back. within 1-2 weeks it arrived.
don't even bother trying a fast courier.
From China to EU the courier i am using costs 60usd
From Eu to China the same courier costs 150usd

Yep,
I would never order from these dealers. But it could be a sure sign that prices from the factories are going down.
As we speak I emailed my dealer from Guangzhou to check it out. Also putting some pressure on their prices by pointing at others' lower price....

My Porsche Design Flat 6 chrono has an engraved rotor. True beauty!

I think it is a bit overly optimistic to suggest that you can regulate every ETA to +/-0/day. I do not think the regulators on most of these movements are machined well enough to make the fine adjustments required to achieve that type of accuracy. But if the movement is functioning to spec, most ETAs should be able to be regulated to within COSC standards (+6/-4 secs/day).
I think some are just lucky. Once i regulated a A7750 and I managed to get it at 1 seconds deviation per 5 days or so. It was amazing. I was not able to check it for a month or more, since the watch is now at The Zigmeister's.
But on average they are able to be regulated within the standards like Freddy333 wrote.
-
Does anyone have a good pic of the engraved rotor?
I think the "discounts" we're seeing is the result of sales cooling off for one of the most hugely marked up reps in rep history--W/ the HBB the collectors and factories repped Hublot's business model along w/ the watch: marketing a watch that doesn't cost a whole lot to build as "a super premium best of the best" bad boy and selling for gigantic markup
And we gladly bought them...
-
What about the diameter on watchmarks' website. 42mm?
others have a bigger diameter. 44.5mm. !!!!
I think there is more difference between the two watches besides just the movement. Could be also the outer finish that is different...
-
@ hooky- many of the "lite" versions are NOW being sold with the high-beat 28k 7750.
....in fact, i think if you buy a lite from one of the "top' dealers it will come with the 28k 7750.
edit: here is a reference .... http://silix-prime.com/product.asp?id=1940
Yes, i am very much aware of that. My point is that the one company makes them with the 28.8k. Also the Lite.
When I wanted to buy the Ice Bang Lite 28.8k, i was told that temporary it was out of stock. And my dealer could get a different version for the same price with AR and 21.6k. ..........
That one came from another factory.
And i guess there are a few more 'Top' dealers who are not active on this board.
-
What I understood from my dealer (near Guangzhou) 2 weeks ago, is that currently there are 2 factories making the hublot replica.
The first one makes the better version with better finish (supposedly) and with the 28.800 movement.
The other one makes the Hublot with the old 21.600 movement, most times even with AR. AR is sold as expensive, but it is also on a 110usd 21j PAM005 i have here currently. Go figure. These 21.6 movement is sold cheaper than the normal Hublot with 28.8k. So it the price can be normal for ceramic. 250ceramic bezel+250 watch makes around 500usd. YES. But who wants the 21.6k movement....?
The Ultimate versions are just much more expensive. Also the marketing of the dealers is based on that. The pictures of the Lite versions look crappy and cheap, while they really made great pictures of the Ultimate versions. AND WHY IS THAT? (...)
I still think that the Ultimate version is 250-300 overpriced. Who of you prooves me wrong?
Is there any way of telling the difference between mineral and sapphire crystals

I suspected it was something else than the hardness of the material, since it does not scratch the surface while testing and it also works with electricity. Once i touched the tip of the tester. Ouch!! strong electrical shock....
Just went for the simple explanation haha. Sorry.
Thank you for your explanation.
