    don't know for sure but you should look on th sites of Ofrei or Cousins in the UK .

    They sell saphire mineral and plastic criwstals fro watches in all different shapes ans sizes.

    Btw did you buy a new case for 25 us dollars from your dealer ?? This is realy cheap.

    Yes Sir, just the 25us dollars for a case and glass. Mineral glass though. And without the caseback. But still... you can imagine how much the real price of the watch is.... I guess i got it at the the cost price, since glasses should not pop off just after 5 months...

    I've heard about Cousins in the UK, but i have no clue which crystal would fit the PAM253 case. If i'd only knew, i could let my local watch smith do the swap of the crystal.

    So i have this beautiful PAM253. I really really love it. Recently the mineral crystal popped off. Just like that while havind dinner at friends place. My rep was the joke of the evening I can tell you. <_<

    In the mean time I ordered a new case with glass from my dealer, for just 25usd. Now all is together again, looking fine as ever.

    In March I am planning to get the watch serviced and relumed. And also looking for a sapphire crystal to get it AR coated in the end, to make it perfect.

    Was just wondering, does anyone know where to buy the sapphire crystal that will fit in this baby?

    So, who does sell these sapphire crystals? I asked both Andrew and Davidsen, but neither are selling.

    And what do you think of the watch, any suggestions for future modding? Btw, the strap is from Don Ginsler, Canada.

    it looks amazing! I am also the lucky one having a PAM253. I put a nice Californian leather strap on it.

    Soon i will let it being serviced and relumed.

    I am also looking around to let my PAM253's crystal being AR coated. Not really sure about it yet, since a week ago, the glass just exploded.

    could you tell me which press you used to get the crystal out of its case? Because the glass is domed i heard that you need to make sure to use the right press and material.

    Secondly, could you inform me who is doing the AR coating? or maybe PM me about it.

  4. Note that having a frozen (non-functioning) second hand will, in my opinion, turn your rep into a doorstop, at least as far as visual accuracy goes. The watch will still run & keep time, but since the second hand will remain motionless, it will no longer function or behave like the gen watch it is supposed to replicate (with running seconds at 6). I know that The Zigmeister recommends & often performs this mod on otherwise dead movements, but I do not really see how having a 'frozen' second hand is any better than having a frozen (dead) watch, unless you are solely interested in keeping time & do not mind wearing a watch that is an obvious 'fake'.

    thanks for your great post!!! This will help for sure. Specially also for your practical solutions on the nail polish. Never thought i would be using that for real! :lol:

    This will freez the seconcs @ 6. Does this also aid to the low powerreserve. I always thought (but i am not too technical and not yet experienced enough), that some of the gears also needed to be taken out of the movement, so that the movement needs less energy on driving those gears.

    Question: do we also need to remove some gears, or will freezing the gears be enough, to also get the powerreserve back and making the watch run better again?

    But if i read between the lines, you would suggest servicing the watch, so hopefully it will have a powerreserve again after the extra 5 gears will move more smoothly. With the advantage of having a watch looking like a gen. And accept the lower life expectancy of the core movement?

    So here my question, will servicing solve the problem?

  5. Is there a 'how to' available on how to remove the extra running gears from the 9 to the 6 on the asian 7750?

    I have a problem with 2 Portuguese with seconds on the 6. They almost don't have any powerreserve at all, just like all the problems which have been thoroughly described in the forum. Solutions also have been given: servicing or freezing the seconds @ 6 hand by removing the running gears.

    But HOW TO remove those gears...

    I can get the movement out, get the hands off, dial removed, but what then? Just start unscrewing? What to look for and what to expect, do's and dont's...

  6. Use something like weldbond or gorilla glue

    Well, i thought of this idea yes. To use a plier or to use glue.

    I was looking for the best solution to the problem. The rotor is under lots of vibration due to the spinning I assume. I thought that using glue, maybe after one, two years who knows bits of the glue might fall off. And from what I've learned on this forum, even the smalles fragments of anything being loose inside the movement might do damage. :cc_confused:

    So, who has had this problem as well and how did you solve it?

    Anyone has an idea to fix the following problem?

    The rotor of the Asian ETA 7750 contains two parts. The part attached to the movement, having the 'dove tail' and the weight part with the ridge. The weight part fell off.

    I had this problem before, so i just opened the case back, unscrewed the rotor, clicked the weight part back on and done. So I thought. But now the problem is back. It fell off again and it seems it is getting more loose after clicking it on for a second and third time...

    Does anyone has an idea to fix this?

    Maybe pressing it together at the ends with a plier (before or after the parts are clicked together?), but wouldn't it leave marks on the metal, specially visible in an open case back like my precious Panerai PAM253...

    So WHO of you already had to deal with this problem? Did it happen more often?

  8. Of course you should never force anything.

    Someone i sold a PAM253 with new asian 7750 to, tought it was a real working flyback. With a flyback function you can reset during running chronograph.

    How wrong was he... he did not see any action after tryint to reset it. So he pushed a bit more and after that some more. The reset button gave way and the reset mechanism inside the movement became stuck behind the start/stop mechanism. Result: the chrono kept on running and could not be stopped anymore...

    Solution: Watch smith. who was not surprised at all... many people do not know how to operate a mechanical watch. So just simply the statement "to never force anything" in practice might not be enough.

    I would still say to never (trying to) reset the chrono while it's running on a 7750.
