  1. replace rather than repair makes sense in the case of 21j's

    Have to politely disagree here.

If you only look at the cost.. yes, then replace it. But looking at functionality, accuracy and reliability it is ALWAYS better to service the movements. I believe Zigmeister also commented on these kind of matters often long ago.

Thing is, if you service it, it will run better. If you buy a new movement from ofrei or from a dealer, often the movement is older than a couple of years or can be dry/not good enough old. And could have to be serviced as well to make it run the best possible.

And also don't forget about installation cost of a new movement on the watch. Servicing is cheaper and better.

    Just my 2c.

  2. Zigmeister is a very good watch smith indeed. There are more good watch smith who are 'old skool' and have a ton of experience. But there are not many good ones. There are a lot of 'so so' watch smiths.

And also experience with Asian 7750 is also a must, because they have their own problems. So I would never have a replica serviced or worked on by watch smith who do not have a lot of experience with A7750 movements. Period. Whenever they did not have the experience with that, I politely thanked them and moved on.

And Zig belongs to the top. Outstanding work. There are not many people who are great at modding and reluming and as well being a great watch smith as well.

  3. Love the wrist photo's Milesd! Are you still going to mod some things or take it just the way it is. Could be the pictures, but looks a bit that there is some space between the CG and the case?

How does it compare to the gen base 112 in terms of gen feeling? (thought you once owned a gen 112).

Enjoy it! Cheers & all the best!

  4. I can recommend PT. Very good EU dealer. He is out for holiday until the first week of January I believe. But worth it to wait for it. :)

About the TAG 'Brad Pitt' Carrera Chrono (CC) or the 43mm Day Date... Personally I have had both models. Actually at this very moment the Day Date is on my wrist. I would highly recommend the Day Date over the normal Carrera. The CC is a bit smaller than the DD. Also looks more simple and plain. The finish of the DD is better. Also the AR on the DD is stunning. And I like the dial of the DD more. And also the steel bracelet of the DD has a better finish and looks a bit better imo.

  6. Love the band!

Can I ask where you purchased your 03-92 from. Looks to be a very good version. Also by "fully modded", what exactly did you do? Or more importantly what was needed to improve it to get so close to 1:1.

    Cheers

If you read the post once again, carefully, you can see that I mentioned what was done for modding. new blue lume by Zig (rep has green, genuine blue), Chieftang AR (rep had no AR), movement serviced by my watch smith

    cheers!

  7. My best buy on eBay has been a couple of months back. Bought a old pocket watch of which I suspected it could contain a Cortebert movement. It was advertised as non working, also in the advertisement there was nothing mentioned about Cortebert or 616. Pictures were also bad. Paid around € 4 for it. :thumbsupsmileyanim::whistling:

Upon arrival when I opened the caseback a old Cortebert 616 was in it. I Needed some spare parts to get it working again, like a balance wheel (which I had), but it was a great find.

  8. I agree with Hooky. Never send it back, find someone to fix it and have the seller send part(if neccsary) but sending a watch back to China (in particular) will be a frustrating, time comsuing and unsuccessful transaction. Minimize your frustration and just get it fixed.

I only send it back when the costs will be more than
