  1. You want a replica you say. A replica should replicate, so it must be 1:1 with the genuine or at least as close as possible.

going for the cheap stuff won't work for that. For instance, that TAG has a quartz. which has a seconds hand which ticks every second. And the genuine has a automatic, which has a smooth running seconds hand. Also all 3 you chose have mineral. Nice in the beginning, but after half a year of wearing or a couple of months, scratches will be there. The gen have sapphire. The reps are also available in sapphire.

So my advice, save a few bucks more and go for a better one. If your budget is lower, go for a nice Swatch or Seiko. They are better quality for the 100usd budget..

  2. Buddy that is bad... I think most is fixable, due to dust and piece of metal, but the 50 and the 15 cannot be fixed. So taking into consideration about the customs risks of sending it back to Asia and then back to the US, I would ask for a new dial and let a local watch smith install the new dial onto the watch. Imo best option.

  3. Any chance to remove the cyclops and replace it with a better one?

I thought the cyclops was engraved inside the crystal, so it cannot be removed, like f.e. on a Rolex crystal.

The 243 is a superb watch, but has wrong bezel markings and a not perfect cyclops.

However, if you take a (Takashi?) date wheel with thick bold font, it will do very well the trick with the less magnifying cyclops.

  4. That pam286 you showed first is to be released this year. We are not sure whether it is going to have sapphire though. The pam253 does NOT have sapphire. But the 253 will be more 1:1, but imo the 286 looks more cool and will probebly have better blue color hands, who knows..

  5. Hi Guys,

tried to search on the forum, but could not really find something.

Does anyone know when a good version of the Submariner 2010 will be released as a rep? Or what are the current best versions available?

    Thanks!

  6. haha, nice first post, noob question. B) BTW, what took you so long, 5 months of looking around on this great forum before the first post?

If you are looking for a good Breitling, go ahead and look around at the dealers section, but no 1:1 automatic tourbillon movements are available for this, far too complicated.

If you are looking for a tourbillon rep, there are some very very decent models out lately, but do expect prices above 500usd for a real tourbillon. Most of them are manual wind though..

    cheers!

  7. Thanks for the responses guys.. anyone got a link to a review anywhere? Anyone know if this watch is available with an ETA movement or only Asian "21j"?

Only the 21j. ETA is not available for this movement. Because no ETA movement is able to replicate both the functions and the way the gen looks from the display case back. just my 2c.

  8. Just bumping the question above!

Has anyone tried fitting a gen rubber strap or bracelet to the Slevin as well?

I think both strap and bracelet of the rep are extremely good quality. So why invest in that. First things to modd is at least a relume.

  9. Yep, what Andy said. Date wheel is low. The AR is quite nice and it is sapphire as advertised. I confirmed it with a electronic tester. Bottom display case is mineral glass though.

Highly recommended on this watch is to give the bearings of the rotor a good sticky grease. Because the rotor makes quite a lot of noice. On all of these movements (had several go trough my hands and I greased them all).

The strap is so so. rep quality. The deployment is quite nice. All in all a nice watch for a decent price.

If I recall I still have a HKTAN croco strap, like new, in black. don't know the size though and don't know if suited for deployment, if interested, shoot me a pm, I could take a look. Cheers!

  10. Would never trust a rep factory saying they put a genuine Cartier movement inside. It is not that people can order Cartier movements or such from ETA or Cartier. Most times parts are ordered based on serial number even...

Second, the rep sellers could never verify if it is a gen movement and its origin. Most rep sellers like our dealers don't even go to the factories, because factories are not open for just anybody. Even in China the factories are illegal..
