  1. I gave in to a yachty once. It wasn't pretty so make sure the bezel is on securely to avoid any public embarassement
  2. To even come back here and face an inevitable firing squad says a lot. That is just rockets 2 cent- nothing more.
  3. Many reasons really. The gen movement is similar to the daytona which means rep makers don't have any movement thin enough to put in a 1:1 rep case. That is the same problem with the daytona, the case is to thick. I believe a rep maker already bought a gen chrono roadster but since the move is not something they can rep with the current asain 7750, it's been shelved. I would be first in line to buy it if the makers ever decided to make a quality version.
  4. Thanks double T! I want to thank everyone for the kind words. I feel really let down after getting so !explitive! Close and getting shut down! Live and learn I guess. @ woody thanks man To add insult to injury I found a couple santos crowns on the bay and they where the wrong size
  5. got the car waxed today  So I am going to be sporting my trusty BCE
  6. I would be one of the first in line with you CYO811 to buy this rep even at a high price point but I was told that the rep makers had bought a gen to copy but since it used a simular type of movement the daytona uses they would never be able to get the case thin enough. The movement inside the chrono roadster is very thin and in order for the rep makers to copy this movement with the 7750 movement they would have to make a thicker case to fit the chinese copy. That alone would not make it a super rep. bummer
  7. I am not a rolex fan myself but I have to say that version looks to be very high quality. This is from a non rolex fan.
  8. There are other possibilities like going to another maker but the minimum order is large. If I was to go to another maker the dollar amount I would have to pay is equal to just buying the gen santos 100 I am just not having good luck with this
  9. I know. It's a major dissappiontment for me. The manufacture basically killed the project I was just left at thier mercy. This dial even though it's not finished is better than anything else out there right now. At least I can say that. I appologize to anyone who bought a santos hoping to get a dial and now are left empty handed. I didn't make any promises to anyone but it's still is kind of lame that it couldn't be taken to the end.
  10. Well ladies and gentlemen I hate to bring everyone bad news that was waiting for an updated dial but I regret to inform everyone that my project is now toast I went around and around with the manufacture trying to get some final corrections done but unfortunately I think they grew tired of the work involved and told me they could not go any further. I pleaded to make some minor adjustments but I was told if I wanted to make more refined changes I need to supply a gen dial as a sample or a vector layout of the dial for more precise changes. Anyhow I feel as though I spent all this time and got very close to my goal but was stopped short right at the finish line. What's a guy to do?you know? I just wanted to let everyone know what the status is and to let everyone know I tried. Here is the final sample before it was stopped, just to let you know how close I was to getting it perfected Thanks for everyones support and help.
  11. you can fit a gen strap to the case. Only bad thing is those hands aren't quite right. Is that an asain movt version ?
  12. HKTAN's staps are as good if not actually higher quality than the gens. Gen will run you around 300 bucks if you can find one and they don't come with a clasp. Just save yourself the hassle and get a strap from HK.
  13. It's a shame really. Some of the problem is that we have a serious shortage of highly skilled watchsmiths on this and other forums. The Zigmeister's pricing has typically been less expensive when you think about the quality of work you get. I have been tinkering with a couple watches lately and can see how easy it is get yourself in a big mess with a pile of watch parts that you can't put back together..
  14. I might be in for one. I guess I better buy an SFSO.
  15. Don't worry about it cause I am not really able to change the dial myself. I need to send my santos off to one of our trusty modders myself
  16. If you really want to be low cost you could just cut the feet off the dial and glue it on. I am not recommending that anyone do this but there is always a way to make things happen on the cheap
  17. Well...here is the rub. I was told by the maker that it should fit the Asian copy of the ETA movement but to error on the safe side I would really recommend putting this in a Swiss version. Silix offers the Swiss Santos 100 for relatively low cost which is really my goal with this whole project (create something to transform the Santos 100 into a near perfect rep for cheap). I believe we all should be entitled to a great rep without having to pay top dollar (there was a time that we could get a good rep for 150 bucks ). The Santos 100 -for me personally- is a great rep that you don't see very many people wearing. It's classy, masculine and has presence IMHO. The Santos 100 reps really haven't changed much over time. The cases crowns and straps have remained relatively unchanged. The Asian versions don't typically have and accurate clasp though. There are many different versions of the dials though and the sad part is that non of them are right. TWP Asian version is the closest dial that I have seen but since I know my dial will fit in the ETA version I would choose your model with that in mind. I will tell you that I have seen pictures of a brand new updated Santos 100 model from one our dealers and it does have a few refinements and (lucky for me) the dial is still wrong. It would be a sad day for me if they came out with a new version that had a correct dial. I wouldn't be sad for long though cause I would buy it in a heartbeat. Ok, so to get back on subject here. I will try to put a dial in a Asian movement version I have and of course if it fits then that should cover everyone. I believe the issue here is the feet on the dial. The ETA dial feet are not the same layout as an Asian movement version but again this is something that can be verified once I actually get the product in hand. The only thing now is that I am just waiting at this point. When I get the final sample then the bad news would have to be that I would be waiting another few weeks for all the dials to be made and shipped. Honestly, I don't think I will be getting a final product shipped to me until thanksgiving. I REALLY hope this won't be the case but I want to let everyone know what kind of time frame I am working with here and also to let everyone know what to expect.
  18. I would love to see a correct PAM 063 cyclops. There are some really good attempts available but they are not exactly like the gen just yet.
  19. the 7753 santos chrono is a highly accurate rep. there is no doubt there. If you are looking at one and want to get one I would say go for it cause you won't be dissapointed. At that price point it had better be highly accurate. The santos 100 and the swiss santos chrono are two different animals though. The santos 100 is a more simplistic watch asthetically speaking. The plus about it is that it can be made to near perfect for a relatively low cost.
  20. No advance payment needed. The maker is making the last correction now. I am really hoping this version comes back with no corrections needed. I don't want to delay this another time, which would be really frustrating for me. I will be sure to keep everyone posted. Maybe someone could post a how to on swaping the strap out for those who want to swap the rep strap out. It's sort of a pain. Thanks goes out to everyone for their help and patiences.
  21. of course. Just look at the finish on the movement and then there is no recessed date window.
  22. I know but I like the "pimpin ain't easy" text in the background
  23. yup, pretty ghetto  I like the timewalker. Pimpin ain't easy
