Any 8 year old walking around with a gen priced $1K watch is going to get funny looks regardless. In the teen years, half my school had Rolexes...a few had solid gold Presidents...kind of crazy...but most of us got them around the mid teens age...not in grade 2. I wouldn't go too expensive...as a Grade 2 will probably smash it on the playground...or trade it for a few pieces of gum.

Nope. Slower movement might be referring to slower beat if they were planning on upgrading to a Swiss 7750. You are best to start with a slow beat if doing that route as the hand sizes are the same. There is no 7750 that should be running like yours is now.

DG4813 doesn't come with a black datewheel...only white. It will also be the wrong font and likely not centred properly. You would need a date overlay and dial spacer to accomodate the increased thickness...and hope that the raised dial doesn't affect mounting the hands. If you've seen an Asian PO (not ETA) with the proper wheel you want...odds are good it has an overlay...and you have to source these. I'm trying to figure out where to get these myself for a Rolex.

smaller sized Datejust...excellent choice. 36mm or so...can't remember offhand.

That's a tough call. I love it on the brown deployment...wear it all the time. However, some people say for resale value, the straps lower the value, so get the bracelet to help sell it in the long run. To me...I know the bracelet on this one would make the watch too big for me...so I said screw it...and just ordered the rubber, and the deployments. I never wear the rubber...but swap between the black and dark brown moo-croc. I wear this thing a lot, and I still haven't noticed the wear marks other members have on the inside strap.

That's way beyond me. It sounds like something wasn't done properly...or went FUBARD in the process of replacing the balance.

That's good to hear about the tube. I have a few questions hopefully you can answer: How do you measure these? Do you mesure the outside insertion section diameter and also the overall length? How did you measure the tube thread size/pitch to ensure it would fit with the rep threading? Did you do a standard ETA datewheel replacement? I'm trying to figure out where to source date overlays for a Sumbariner and possibly a Seadweller, and am not sure where to look. Thanks for the post...it's quite interesting.

That doesn't sound right. Does the second hand visibly look like it's moving crazy relative a properly functioning one? It could also be a slipped hand that makes it seem like it's going fast. Get the watch wound up fully, and have it lay flat on a table for a few hours and see if it's running properly without hand movement. Try it over a period of 3 hours to see if the hour hand is moving fast relative to the minute hand relative to the second hand. If one is moving independently fast...it's likely hand slippage...if not...than something more major is likely at the root.

I'm not so sure on that. The 4813 is a direct swap to the 2813 in a Noobmariner...so it should be the same for the UPO if the footprints of the 2 are the same in the Noob. It's easier to swap the date overlay (assuming it's using one) than it is to swap the datewheel. The datewheel swap can be a bit tricky to get the datewheel working properly after removal. Check Ajoesmith's tutorial that I reposted because his original one stopped working with the pictures being absent. It's linked in my signature. You can also look at my Franck Muller movement guide too...that shows another movement swap in detail for reference.

Yup...and what Lani's signature says...the Noob really is the next generation. I initially came to this forum looking for just a single watch...and found so much more. So, who knows which newcomer we treat well may well in fact become the new Lani, or Pug, or Nanuq or Freddy333 or whatever.

You can also look at this thread. The Bergeon mini springbar tool is good. There's a wide bent fork good for leather straps, and the mini straight fork for steel bracelets, and the mini flips around for a little poker good for poking out springbars on steel bracelets that have drilled out side access.

I think the pearl looks alright on this one. A clear coat with some clear epoxy would finish it up!

It looks like the standard gold plated DG2813. Many that come in the Noobmariner, etc are nickel plated with the red wheel to look like the Rolex movements...but out of the box, they are generally gold.

Crap. I knew there was more to these mods than meets they eye. That's why the mods I'll undertake are limited to removing the Saran Wrap that the watches arrive in. Needless to say...it looks fantastic...and I'm sure functions like a treat too.

They may be alright...you can try them and let us know...but their prices seem high compared to what we get here. I'm not sure about the quality. An example is the Aquanaut with ETA for $358 vs. $258 from the cartel. There are few reasons to try buying from dealers that people don't have experience with here. We have the collective experience of THOUSANDS of real experience transactions on this forum to help people decide where to "risk" their money.
