  1. Kai- You didn't? All you need now is a crystal.
  2. Rolex "gold" reps always concern me. And what scares me about "solid gold reps" is that neither the dealer nor the buyer knows what he/she is selling or buying. Each watch can be different and so it would have to be individually tested. I have no idea what the gold weight is on a TT sub but I do know that at current gold prices each ounce of 14k content gold should theoretically cost $550-$600 per ounce before casting. Can anyone tell me what the gold parts of this watch actually weigh in total? Having said all that if it is plating and it is really holds up well it may be worth the $550-600. If it is PVD-based gold plating it will hold up to everything other than a direct hardcore scratch. It does not wear away.
  3. Actually it is too good to be true. The seller got a replacement bezel for his 87 after he lost the "30" marker. He then tried to sell it for $500. Relisted at $250 and it is now relisted for whatever. Still missing the 30 marker though. And the funny thing is he is using the original packaging from his replacement bezel to help sell it.
  4. Move on. Be grateful that you didn't send him money in advance. It is a little whacked but the amount of money is too small to take him to real court and I suspect that you don't really want to go through the small claims court process. In general I have had more issues with gen purchases from individual sellers than reps. Let's face it, the money is bigger and so are the problems.
  5. IMHO, each year the model gets uglier. Is it true that the 07 does not have a lumed inner bezel? I assumed it did. I think I am going to stick with my one-of-a-kind 06. Pics to come at a later date.
  6. Is it a size which is currently rep'ed? I thought it was 44mm in which case you would need new dial, etc.
  7. And I suspect you would need a new center bridge plate as well or you will be looking at Officine... upside down.
  8. IMHO, the first generation CA is the one to beat, Mine with Swiss movement and gen dial: The silly part is that by the time I was done with all the mods I have $500 or more into an $1800 watch.
  9. If you are looking for a basic carbon fiber dial they should be readily available from your usual dealer. If you want one for a 140 I am not aware of one with the proper gold bezel around the dial markers.
  10. It doesn't matter what the luminous material is your markers will look very different under different lighting conditions.
  11. You mean the pictures are supposed to be good? Well since that will require a new lense and cut into my horological budget I am officially retiring from this thread.
  12. Hey L- You have too good a collection. I have to torture you a little. I am staring at a gen SA bezel which Sir Archibald was good enough to source for me. And on the CD you have one mod left and I leave it to you to figure it out. And if you can't figure it out I will post some shots in a week or so. -K
  13. Nice watch but be careful not to click on the first picture. If you are on a slow network you will have time to run out for a cup of coffee. Actually, the pictures came out nicely. And yes, very nice watch.
  14. L- Looking very good. Enjoy it. I am finding that it and my old school Chrono Avenger are the rubber strap watches getting the most wrist time.
  15. Actually it came with this one - Oops, I mean this one:
  16. P- Aha, it all becomes clear. Did yours come with a chrono?
  17. RA- Great catch. And it isn't rough it is just plain old different. Could they possible be adding a different regulator plate with a proper dagger on a Swiss movement? Probably too good to be true. I bet Chinese as well. Do people believe the plates are cut closer to gen as well? I am wearing a gen with Panerai, Panerai movement and the shape of the bridge plates look really good. I am not familiar enough with the CDG rep movement.
  18. That is my guess as well. It is a little more dimunitive and elegant than the typical deployant and does look really good with a croc strap. If it is a rep Panerai could learn something.
  19. This is not a quiz - I am trying to figure it out. I got this deployant with an F series gen which I believe is one of the first series with deployants. It looks very different from my subsequent daylights and has no release tabs. It just clicks in. Now the watch did not come with box but did come with gen rubber strap. Is this the first generation deployant or a rep? What do you think?:
  20. In order to forward the cause - another pic.
  21. My Preferences If gen: 1. 64c (La Bomba) - But they are already in the $8-10k range 2. 87d,e (Light blue dial, no bezel surrounds) Buyable in the $5500 range 3. 87 F... (Dark blue dial. WG bezel surrounds). Same price 4. 243 Pretty watch but prices are sinking like a stone. Can buy in high $6's already. That one will be priced like 87's in no time though. If Rep: 1. 243 with proper He engraving. Crown is good but CG is suspect. Too much movement in bezel but still the best 2. 87 (d,e) I am told dial is correct color but have never seen. Horrible crown though 3. 64 Same crown issue as 87 and wrong bezel markings to boot. Although you can always tell folks you needed a replacement bezel as you get an 87 bezel if you send in your 64 to Panerai for service.
  22. I found this one and had to chuckle. http://cgi.ebay.com/Panerai-Luminor-Submer...1QQcmdZViewItem I had received one of these as a mistake from one of the dealers years ago. Anyone who is in the mood should out him. I still have mine as a testimony to how bad reps can be.
