  1. Shoes- What are they? I subscribe to the caveman theory - No shoes and drag her by the hair. And if my wife reads this I am a dead caveman.
  2. Absolutely beautiful. I have been wanting to do this but never got around to it. Now I know the marker revision is truly worthwhile.
  3. Next time it is off to DB's for the fabulous burger with short ribs and foie gras. The best of French meeting American.
  4. Top one is the 29. Bottom one is the 63. Hopefully I will have a couple of 2892/3 frankens by the next time you are over here.
  5. Thanks very much for the clarification. It is always very helpful to know exactly what you are buying.
  6. Stephane- You will eventually give in and get a GMT - Or Perhaps this: Could be a few years though. Nah, never. Sorry, S had to torture you a little bit.
  7. Sql- Well, if you give me a year and really come over from Poland than perhaps we can work something out. After all, I always keep a couple of old 196 cases and gen crowns hanging around the watchbench - oops, I mean Ziggy's watchbench. And no they are not for sale.
  8. Yes you can wind it. No there is no reason to keep it running. And no there should be no difference whether the crown is open or close except that there is always a slight chance that dirt can get in easier to an open crown.
  9. Either from another member or if you have a friend who speaks Japanese, lives in Japan and is willing to receive a rep. If you do let me know. The original dealer is still actively in business.
  10. Very nice review. I do have a question though. Is the PVD Ajoesmith's or the stock anodized rep? The reason I ask is that I just bought one from another member with Ajoe's PVD. I then immediately marched over to the AD to compare to the gen. I thought the PVD was remarkably close in color and sheen - perhaps a tad light and a little flat and sheen but certainly as close as would be possible without having the same shop do the work.
  11. If the "He" on the He valve is raised rather than engraved it is absolutely not a Honpo. The next level of detail would include better engraving on caseback, different blue on the "1000" on the dial, very different markers and gen quality rotating bezel. But the He valve says it all.
  12. Yeah, I forgot that as well. And on the way back from Ziggy as we speak - an old case 188 with revised dial and datewheel, gen crown, single sided AR, etc. I love this hobby. And no that is not going with me to lunch with a forum member for quite awhile.
  13. Yes it is fake. Movement is missing the swan neck with working regulator. I would guess it is a Chinese movement.
  14. A fabulous ending to a great effort. Kudos to all who participated in this auction or contributed in some other manner.
  15. Lanikai- I know this is subjective but how does it feel on the wrist? I always felt that the original chrono and FA Jones felt light and cheap relative to other IWC reps. Also with the thinner case on a larger watch you could really hear and feel the quality of the movement.
  16. The old case which comes from the first factory to make the Daylights does have differences. The most telling is the bezel. It has the proper height and articulation off the case. As a result it also occupies the proper area on the case top (more of the brushed case is revaled on the old case). In effect the newer case has the bezel spreading too far over the case top and also does not have the same spread off the case and inversion thereafter. I did have the opportunity to very closely inspect Stephane's rep versus a 162 (which was the original Daylight chrono and predecessor to the 196 and 188) and the proportionality is remarkably good. It also had a better crown guard both in terms of sizing and finish. The new version has a better crown and closer to gen set of hands. And on the 188 the newer watch has a better dial. I have never figured out why but the newer cased dials are layed out such that the date window is located just slightly closer to the 5 which is less accurate to the gen. I believe there was a pictorial pointing out the differences but it is too early to go hunting.
  17. Thanks for pointing it out. If they really have lengthened the actual Power Reserve on the watch to 60 hours that is very much a step in the right direction. I do hope this is the year the manufacturers add a second barrel. I don't know how this one's PR meter works but until you can get closer to true 7/8 days I am not sure what the PR meter is going to be telling you. Maybe it falls proportionately with the actual available reserve. Is the rep a handwind or automatic?
  18. View count is not particularly revealing. If there is a post of particular interest to a person they will often check back multiple times. As the size of the membership grows I would expect the discrepancy between posts and views to only grow. Having said that, I do hope that people will post if they have something to add or are trying to get a related question answered. The counterpoint to lack of posting from a reader's perspective is wasting a lot of time on longer loops where it is the same thing over and over again.
  19. It looks like the standard MM case. For that kind of money you would want to look at VDB's stuff. It is in a whole other league and for not a lot more it will have a vintage movement in it.
  20. Actually the lume came out perfectly. It looks that way due to the "mandatory shrinking of the picture" thing.
  21. It is the second project watch but first PAM I have ever sold. I made the mistake of wearing it to lunch with Stephane and the rest was history. Actually, I couldn't pick a better home.
  22. As requested. If you look closely you can see the issue. Ziggy did a fantastic job but the one thing we could not solve was the required original inner bezel from the honpo case sitting on the dial in a manner that "t swiss t" is cut in half. If anyone has any genius ideas other than simply blacking out the remainder which Ziggy has offered to do many times please let me know. One member was working on a stencil but it is very difficult given the sizing.
  23. Ask and thou shall receive. I contacted Ziggy and I should have them shortly. And Jay, yes someone was dumb enough to try it.
