  1. I thought it would be helpful to post some wrist shots of my bigger watches on my slim 6.5" wrist, I promised my forum sisters I'd do this, so here we go:

MBW blue Tt Sub (40mm), upgraded dial and mods by RBJ

    201276-1579.jpg

    Breit Navi (42mm) from Joshua

    201276-1580.jpg

Quartz PO chrono (41.5mm) from Andrew

    201276-1581.jpg

Pam 090 Power Reserve (44mm) from Joshua

    201276-1582.jpg

Pam 253 Regatta chrono (44mm) from Josh

    201276-1583.jpg

These are some of my fave watches, I know they look big but I've gotten over that a long time ago :thumbsupsmileyanim:

    Thanks for looking.

  2. Hi mkm, sorry to hear that you don't have any ADs to go visit. I live in Chicago and there are 4 -5 watch shops I can visit.

OK, here's another idea, I do this all the time. Do a google search for any watch you are interesed in, click on links until you find a full frontal photo of the watch. Print it out, then measure it to see what size it is in printout. Then see if it is bigger or smaller than the actual size of the real watch. At this point you need access to a copier that reduces/enlarges. Keep copying the original printout, reducing or enlarging it until it's the correct size of the gen.

Take the final copy, cut out the watch and then put the paper watch on your wrist, it will give you an idea how it will look. Sounds strange, but it works very well.

A good rule - it the lugs extend beyound the edges of your wrist, it's too big.

  3. Hi Ladies, I'm a bit late getting here but I made it. I'm another female forum member, I've been reading the forums and collecting reps for over 3 years. I have a 6.5" wrist, and almost all of my watches are mens models.

I am going to try to take wrist shots this weekend of some of my watches, from a 36mm Day Date up to a 44mm Luminor and Oma 253 Regatta to show how they look on my wrist. I hope and think that would be useful to some people.

Anyway, as for the Steelfish, it is a very massive watch, almost 44m case size and 15-16 mm in height. I think the elaborate bezel adds to the massive presence of this piece on the wrist. It is a very beautiful watch, would make a fantastic diver with appropriate water resistance servicing, but, sadly I've come to the conclusion that it would be too big for me. The Luminor Pams are similar dimensions, but the case and bezel design is more sleek and tapered, it doesn't sit quite so large on the wrist, IMO.

The best advice I can give is to go to an AD and try the watch on, see how it fits and looks on you.

  4. Yes, these lighters... I gave up smoking 15 years ago due to emerging allergies. I don't miss it the smoking part but I do miss the ritual of tamping and lighting up, and that first drag... wait, maybe I do miss it.

Anyway, these lighters are so beautiful and pleasing to hold and play with, I'm so tempted to get one. just not sure what I'd do with it.

  5. I SHOULD have gotten a gorgeous Pam 253 Regatta from Joshua Sunday morning, but I didn't.

Tracking info says delivery was attempted at 9:30 am - BS! I was home until 5 pm and nobody rang doorbell all day.

It says a delivery notice was left - no pink slip that I could find.

So, I call the post office this morning and, of course, I'm put on hold for 13 minutes until they look everywhere for the package, I've been to this post office and it's a mess. I'm surprised they find anything there.

They have the package, so now I have to drive to work tomorrow, pay $18 for parking, drive to PO at lunchtime which will take over 1 hr. round trip.

This is what I get for the $25 shipping charge. At least I'm getting the watch.

I'm sorry but the post office workers are absolute morons, I've had to deal with them on a number of issues and I'm absolutely shocked the USPS system "works" at all.

  6. About 6 years ago I discovered Timezone forum and I started to collect watches. I bought a gen DateJust and a UN Marine Chronometer, then I decided I didn'twant to buy expensive watches, deciding which one to buy is too stressful, and I can't buy them as often as I 'd like.

So, I discovered Poor Man's Watch Forum and affordable watches and Poljot forums and hung out there. So I was buying interesting Seikos and Poljots in the $200-300 range. One day I looked at a PMWF forum member's watch collection on his personal website and he had some replicas.

I looked at my watch collection and noticed that a lot of the watches I'd been atracted to and purchased were "homages" of genuines.

I e-mailed the PMWF member and asked him where he's gotten his reps, and he directed me to RWG 1, this was 3.5 years ago.

Now I have over 30 watches, t's been a very interesting experience.

Things have changed so much, when I joined RWG, you NEVER said a dealer was selling, we were all hobbyists and "traded" watches.

Pricing? You never discussed it on the forums, only with your dealer through PMs, so you never knew what other people were paying. A few times I paid $175 for one of those non-functioning chronos where you push the button to move the subdial hand. Pathetic.

I know this sounds amazing, but, it was Wo-Mart Paul who changed the rep buying game forever, he was the one who set up the first web store with prices, completely transparent.

I've enjoyed this rep foum and hobby so much, and it's incredible how far it's come in the 3.5 years I've been here.

  7. Of course!

Unfortunately, dunno why, but here in Chicago (downtown and near north sides) in all the years I've been doing this, I can count on 1 hand the number of nice watches I've seen.

Some of the obligatory Subs, 2-3 Pams, a Breit, and one time a short, skinny guy wearing an IWC Portuguese.

I must not hang out in the right places.
