  1. Whew Rob, that's something! And knowing you, you're right proud of that stat.

This Easter Sunday in Chicago we're having the weather we should have had on Christmas when it reached 55 degrees, yuck.

It's been in the 30s for days with snow flurries, it should be in the 50s and rainy.

    Thank you global warming.

  2. What sometimes, not always works for me is to soak the offending screws in Liquid Wrench, a penetrating oil, overnight. Then I take a tiny screwdriver, put the blade against the screw head and tap the screwdriver with a jewelers hammer. Sometimes the vibrations from this action loosen the screw a bit. Then try to unscrew it, using slow, heavy pressure.

I can't overstate the importance of using a screwdriver with the proper size blade tip - the tip fits into the screw slot perfectly, edge to edge, not too small or too large.

  3. I go to Tourneau in Chicago every few months to get rep purchae ideas and last time I was there thay had a Pepsi GMT. I don't know if it was the lighting in the case or the way the display glass magnified the watch, but the GMT really caught my eye, a really beautiful watch. Made me want the rep, and I never cared for the pepsi too much - black dial, red & blue insert, too much.

The one thing that has to be done with the rep is to replace the insert and get one that has a nice deep red and blue. like the gen, which is gorgeous.

  4. I agree with you 100% TJ, and thank you for this post.

Honestly, I don't know what to think about this situation. I find the whole thing confusing, depressing, ugly, and I'm sorry, but I'm still incredulous at some of the things our dealers are acccused of. I wonder how this is all going to end up.

In the meantime, I'm thinking of contacting Ms. King about her new fantasy SS 50th Anniversary GMT Master, with the new case.

What do you guys think of this watch?

  5. Eddhead, there is a lot to choose from in downtown Chicago, so much development in the last 5 years. Of course, after living in NYC you'll find the real estate pricing in Chicago a (cheap) joke, comparatively.

Our Mayor Daley has done a very fine job of polishing up the downtown area and the lakefront, he's a big tree lover and bicyclist. All in all, Chicago is a very "manageable" city to live in, has the amenities of a big city, but is realtively affordable.

What, may I ask, does your g/f mean by "northwest", Chicago northwest or US northwest?

  6. Nanuq, that is wonderful news about your wife.

Had a conversation last night with the better half and we're thinking of selling the condo we've been living in for 15 years, in a lovely neighborhood on the north side of Chicago, and moving to downtown.

I'm very excited to start looking at places, also a bit nervous regards sticker shock.

But we're really craving a change, and we love architecture, museums and long walks.

  7. I just took out and wrote with the Boheme from Sash, and I'd like to say that it really is a nice pen, it does have more weight than I remember.

I like sterling silver accessories, and this pen is quite elegant and striking, I do highly recommend it.

  8. Hi Pix, it is the same one as ilovepanerai has, with the engraved lines running lengthwise of the pen.

By accident I received a different style Boheme RB from Sash, it was supposed to go to someone else. It was also silver, but with etched rings going around it.

It too felt a bit light.
