Thanks for the review.
Great to see how close it is.
Was the gen strap a straight swap with the rep one?
I tried to put on a gen strap on my black themes and it looked terrible.
It worked fine with the kit from AP bands though.
I guess at least 2 reps for one gen strap and deployant?
-
Looking at the pictures, it seems to me that they also fixed the hour hand.
-
For those who do not already know the Gen bands will not fit on the Rep watch. The holes in the lugs are about 2.5 mm higher than the Gen watch so some modification is required to fit this combo together.
You made a good deal on that strap man. The watch looks amazing with the bracelet
what modifications did you do to fit the strap?
-
But with the rep now widely available. You are bound to see more on the street, and the people will start thinking you are wearing a rep.
That's why I resist and stay away from all the AP reps.
The only way to stay high nowadays is with the frankens, old school Swiss PAM's like 027, 028, 029, 172 etc., modded MBK Rollies.....
If you go to yahoo auction Hong Kong, you will see all the so called highend reps. offering by the dealers are being sold there in the open market.
I'm sorry but I disagree. The change you see a AP ED on the street is very very small.
90% of the people on the street don't even know AP and 99% have never heard of the ED model.
People on the street do know Rolex though and the first question they will probably ask is " is it real?"

I have seen quite a few gen's with bracelets actually.
This one is also a gen rigth?
-
That is really a beauty.
Did it came with this strap or did you get it somewhere else?
Also please show us some more pics. Back, side etc....
Did they also have the white gold model with grey dial?

Experts!! Is the genuine 3717 case equipped with antimagnetic lid?
//C
Yes it is.

Those screws worked fine with my old AP secs@12
The best lugs were the ones that came with the rep, if you don't have any, buy a replica AP secs@12 rubber strap from a dealer, and make sure it comes with the lug ends. Will cost a lot less than $180
I have the lugs that came with the rep. They fit the case very nice but won't work with the gen strap.
There is ugly cap between the strap and the lug.
I remember some guys here also have some gen straps and I'm really wondering how they attached it.
Maybe they are less picky than I am
Good to hear that the screws fit.

Ok, I got myself a gen APROO strap
........ unfortunately the 2 conversion kits I have look terrible with it.
I have the one supplied with the sec @ 12 and I have one from Oracle straps.
Does anybody now if this kit from AP bands will work with the rep case and gen strap?
Also I stripped one lug screw and would like to know if this kit works with the rep case aswell.
Thanks for letting me know!

Realy a great project! Good job man in finding these parts.
$4.000 and 21 month.... a madness for the end always a franken that has the same value of a rep. In my opinion it is not a good deal to spend $ 4000 and have two holes on the bends decentralized to 5 meters away you can see that is a franken.Sorry but I had to say while seeming disagreeable.
Up to certain figures is just playing with moddy but exceed certain thresholds is madness.
Archimedes
huh?

Although it still has a recessed date wheel, I think you received the so called "fixed" one.
The only way to check this is to open it up.
-
This is what makes the hobby fun. Waiting waiting and waiting....
At the end it's always worth it.
It's a great looking watch scotty!
-
The problem is that the gen dial won't fit the rep (sec at 12) movement because of the date window.
Unless you have a gen movement for it, I would never pay 1K for it.
just my 2 cents!
-
I think we need the reversing wheel and the ratchet wheel for the A7750.
Also a cannon pinion for the A7750 with a closed top (for the pams without the centre seconds hand) would be nice.

The bracelet is available only for Panerai Luminor watches in a variety of materials and finishes according to the watch. It is integrated with the case and therefore not interchangeable with a leather strap for Luminor watches with a 44 mm diameter case, while 40 mm Luminor watches can also be fitted with a leather strap.

I think you're on the wrong forum dude

That looks great man!
Can you also show us a pic when it's mounted on the crystal?

Thanks for the reply guy's
I was looking for it because I received some 3714's lately and I'm not sure which is the new movement and which is the old one.
I received 2 with a pressed on bezel and 2 which are screwed on the case. 2 manufacturers????
Also one movement is a really f.cked up. The worst I have ever seen. Brand new and straight from one of our collectors.
I should write a topic about it.....

A gen dial will fit no problem. It doesn't matter if it's the v1,v2 or v3 case or movement.
Also the dial feet on the gen dial fit right on.
The gen hands will fit the v1 model movement but not the v2 or v3 model. The gen hands will also fit a swiss 7750 movement.
It will be a pain to sourche a gen dial and hands though.
I have a relumed v3 dial if you are interested. The lume on this dial is even better than the gen one.
Let me know if you are interested.
These 2 pics have a gen dial, relumed hands, gen eta date wheels, gen strap and buckle, Chief's AR.
So I guess you are looking for something like this

Hey Mickey,
you can also sand down the gen Date wheel a bit to become
more clearance to the Dial.
I have done it in the past on a Sub.
Sure you can do this but I prefer to sand down the Eta.
No matter how careful you are, there is always a little change you damage the date wheel.
So why taking a risk if you can also sand down the Eta and don't risk anything at all?
-
Thanks very much indeed guys, I really appreciate all your help!
Certainly sanding down the ETA wheel makes a great deal of sense, no need to touch the gen disc at all! My WM9 has the 2824 movement, but that should cause no problems I think..... Just a case of finding the right man for the job now!
I picked up the gen disc for about $45, I think that was a good price, no? I look forward to seeing some pictures too, thanks sander!
Here you go. Please don't look at the quality of the pics.
Good luck with the modding
