  2. you can still send paul from pam111.com a message. He is very responsive and nice to talk with. He confirmed to me that the ultimate fiddy he is selling is using a genuine swiss unitas eta and has 100% sapphire (not a synthetic or mineral one). he also claims that the picture is how the actual watch will look like so less probability of any dissatisfaction. I wondered if the ultimate from Josh/Andrew is the same Paul is offering? anyone got an idea?

Sure.... Paul is a nice guy to talk with.....until you have a problem......

I ordered a pam 199 from him which was totally [censored] up. He told me to send it back as I did. Since it was more than a month since I sent the watch, I asked him what the status was. No reply. After a few more emails he finally answered and told me that he never received the watch.

This was like 3 months after I sent it to him.

I started an investigation with my shipping company and they told me that the package was delivered and signed for 9 days after I shipped it.

I gave Paul a copy if this message and he told me that he had to find out what happened. Since I didn't hear from him, I contacted him again and he told me that he found the watch but that I [censored] it up myself !!!????? (sure.......loose hour markers on the dial, very poorly finished GC, lug screws hand cut by factory because the thread in the case was cut so poorly that the screws didn't fit. While I was unwrapping the watch a screw felt out) He proposed that he will get it fixed but that we should split the cost.

Since this was a brand new watch I didn't want to get it fixed but I wanted a new one so I disagreed. He told me that he would send me a new one free of charge but that he would never deal with me again because customers like me cost him too much money.

He actually did send me a new one. (Took more than 6 months since I did sent it back to him!)

Trust me, I'm a pretty easy guy to deal with. I know that some customers can drive you crazy (every day e-mail with: did you received the watch?, just checking if you had time to look at it!, can you let me know when you expect to send it back? etc etc...) I'm not that kind of guy though.

Sorry for the little frustration here!

  3. I guess the following should work.

Have the underside of the crystal AR coated.

Glue (UV) a Cyclops on the ar coated side at the right spot. (looks like a Panerai now  )

Polish the ar coated side on a buffing machine.

Remove the Cyclops and glue it on the other side of the crystal.

    In theory it should work.

If you are affright to damage the Cyclops when removing it, you can use a spare one of course. I don

  4. What Sub do you have? Noob? MBW/K? etc.

Fairly certain the gen crystal (your ref is correct) will fit most types but you should confirm that with others first.

Just don't press it in with a hockey puck :D

I'm not a Rolex expert so I have no idea what it is. Perhaps you can tell me?

This is before all the modding ^_^

@ Trailboss: do you think that an aftermarket Cyclops is the same as the gen one? I think that the one I have now is also a 2.5 cyclops but for some reason it doesn't look rigth.

PS: of course it already has a gen insert and pearl ;)

  5. Hi sander - thanks for the question. My honest answer is "I was until I encountered certain people !" But I guess there are always going to be people who think they are better than others because of their actions or wealth or intellect. Each to their own. :whistling:

The certain people you refer to is a well respected member and friend of our community.

Perhaps this is not the right place for you.

  6. Some quick and dirties out of the box this morning; didn't even take time to set it.

What?........... you got it at an AD and they didn't even set it for you?

Just kidding, great choise and have fun wearing it!

  7. Wow, man, this is really great work. If you decide to produce this plate, I'm interested in getting one. I have lot of screws and wheels in my parts boxes, so I need just the plate :)

If you will not be producing it, do you have some blueprint or something to share, I have some friends that work with CNC workshops, maybe I can work something out.

    Congratulations again !

    regards

Sorry man but I don't have a blue print. The plate is made by hand and not on a cnc machine.

  8. Fantastic work, makes a big difference! B)

Now if only somebody would produce that style of plate in volume.....

Thanks, it really does make a difference.

Producing the plate in volume is not a very big issue. The problem will be collecting the screws and minute wheels.

Also the modding itself is not a very easy job. Drilling with 0.8mm drills in the second movement plate very close to the jewels is risky!

Also I thought that gluing the new hour wheel to the second movement plate was the easiest thing in the process. Well... it was not... the first attempt a little glue got stuck to the real hour wheel and on the second attempt a little glue appeared on the outside of the wheel. As I already wrote, the margins are really small

  9. sander-

Not sure if this helps, but here is a dial side view of the DD module AP uses on the 2226 in all it's glory:

    dialside.jpg

Granted, it doesn't have the plate over the top that the RBII does... But maybe it will help answer some questions? I've circled some of the details that I thought you'd be interested in on the pic...

This is great! better details are probably not possible :thumbsupsmileyanim:

  10. This issue has been well discussed, and someone did actually made the top plate mod and sold the watch at a very high price.

The job is not simple and it will involve a lot of machining and engravings plus additional parts. If you can do it is a big business from all the fellow memebers here owning the RBII.

    I know I know I know.....

To be honnest, I don't think it's that hard to do. Also mine will have the C
